Summary: No wonder they are a bargain!
Review: I bought a 10-pack recently and they are all (10 of 10) defective, I can't get my cd writter to format nor recognize them. I regret buying them, no wonder they were a bargain. Don't waste your time or money, they are a sure return item.
The only good thing about them is the slim jewel case...

Summary: These Disks are Terrible!!
Review: I bought a 5-Pack of these at Home Depot. The first disk I put in, my Drive didn't recognize. The second disk I put in, locked up my formatting software (I use Nero Burn ROM software).

I took the rest of them back. They are useless. I will never buy anything from Memorex again!

Summary: Try something else
Review: I bought a box of these cd-rws before i read the other reviews, and believe me, i kicked myself. I've gone through about 4 of them, and so far have had only one gripe. when i tried to erase one of the disc, it wouldn't erase. I tried two different programs, but neither could do it. Other than that, i so far haven't had any problems. But to be on the safe side, buy a different cd-rw.

Summary: Memorex CD-RWs are bad
Review: I got one of these discs free with my new burner. The first time I used it was fine, however the second burn did not work. It could not be read, and even worse, cannot be erased. Sure am glad this was "free"!

Summary: Poor quality control
Review: I ordered 5 boxes of these CD-RWs. The first box had 3 damaged discs -- when I tried to format them before using them for a backup, I got a message "Damaged or defective area on disc." When I looked at them I could see many scratches on the shiny side (not all in the same place) on the discs that got this error message.

On the positive side, the undamaged discs work fine, and the slim jewel cases do save space.

Summary: Memorex CD-RW Discs
Review: I recently installed Easy CD Creator 6 and attempted to format several brand new Memorex CD-RW discs. All attempts on two different PCs with different burners (both with ECDC6) failed so it had to be either the software or the discs. I tried with a new Sony CD-RW disc and everything (formatting, burning) went smoothly. I am convinced Memorex CD-RW discs are fatally flawed.

Summary: Think before you speak
Review: I wonder how many of the people who reviewed these disks even *considered* that the problem might be their drives or software?

I've burned at least 30 of these disks in 6 different burners, by 5 different companies (Sony, Phillips, Acer, Yamaha, Lite-On). And for software, I've used the most recent versions of Easy CD Creator, DirectCD, Nero Burning Rom, Nero InCD, NTI Cd-Maker, and NTI FileCD. Not one problem.

I've got 20 or so of these disks waiting for their turn, so I won't need new ones for a while. When I do, I might look for a better price, but I definetely won't need another brand or model.

Summary: EasyCD Creator and Memorex CD-RW
Review: I've just purchased the CD-RW 1x to 4x multispeed. I tried to use DirectCD to format the disk and it gave me an error. I thought, oh no, I have a bad CD. I restarted my PC and then used XP's erase CD feature which is put out by Roxio which puts out DirectCD. Once the disk was erased I tried DirectCD again but got the same error, something about the CD being bad and I wouldn't be able to read or write off the CD.

I tried NewTech Infosystem's NTI CD/DVD maker, erased the disk again, and used their FileCD program which is a packet writing sofware just like DirectCD. FileCD did the job! I tried then XP's software and it worked too but this software is not packet writing so you can't use the disk like a floppy.

Conclusion: Roxio's DirectCD will not work with Memorex's CD-RWs. Use NTI's FileCD to do the job and although it's not as great as DirectCD 'cause you have to eject the disk and re-insert so other programs can also see the data, it is still the best bet!

Good Luck

Summary: It's not your CDRW drive -- It's these lousy Memorex CDRWs!
Review: I've used Memorex CD-R's for a couple years with no problems, so when I went to purchase CD-RW's, I bought some of these. At first, I burned a few fine, but then later when I went to Erase them, they would not erase or they would become corrupted / undetectable to my Drive. And then sometimes I could not even burn them at all. It got to a point where I just kept pulling them out and trying them, new disc after new disc, and ALL would either have problems burning the 1st or 2nd time, or would not erase.
It puzzled me: my CD-R's still burned great! Why not these CD-RW's? I even contacted the tech support for my drive and they began thinking maybe a laser diode in my drive was bad...

Until I tried different brands of CD-RWs. First a few old Pengo 2x CD-RW I had from about 3 years ago... They were slow, but burned and erased fine. Then a Verbatim CD-RW, and a Fuji CD-RW. Hmm. These worked fine too.

My conclusion? Memorex CD-RW's are crap. Just read a few more reviews. The opinions found all over the 'net are the same: STAY AWAY FROM MEMOREX CD-RW'S.

Summary: stupid junk
Review: None of mine had scratches. All worked fine. 4x is a bit slow though.
