Summary: Watch Out For A Very Serious Flaw!!!
Review: As a longtime user of the Sangean DT-300VW radio, I needed to
purchase another radio and didn't need the weather band. I have
been extremely satisfied with the DT-300VW except that the coating
on the metal faceplate wears off very quickly (the radio does not
age gracefully).

I received the DT-210V only eight days ago and had similarly high
expectations. I am extremely disappointed and am planning
to return this radio as I write this review.

My disappointment concerns the method of using the memory presets.
Incredibly, the memory presets are not the default method of tuning
for this radio. The user must depress the recall button on the side
of the radio in order to place the radio in memory preset selection
mode. An "M" on the display begins to flash allowing you to select
the presets for a short period of time. The radio then returns to
manual tuning mode automatically. On my radio, the recall button
is also very imprecise making it difficult to ensure you are in memory
preset tuning mode without holding the button down for an extended
period of time.

This is an incredible engineering error by Sangean! How many
car radios (or any radios) do you know that do not have memory
preset tuning as the default or allow you to select that default.
I even wonder if Sangean only found this error at the last minute
and didn't want to recall the radios in the distribution pipeline. I
mention this because the photo on the back of the DT-210V's box
shows the graphic "SEL" adjacent to the button instead on
the term "RECALL" that is on the actual radio. A select function
would make more sense allowing the user to select either
manual tuning or memory preset tuning.

In my opinion, this is a grievous engineering error and I would
not recommend this radio in any circumstance (at least
until Sangean corrects the problem).

Summary: Great radio - a real performer! Excellent value.
Review: I am in a very weak signal area. I have had several Sony SRF-M35 (I am hard on radios). Primarily, I listen to AM broadcast and based on other reviews I have read, I thought this radio might do a little better in that area - I was not disappointed.

A major improvement for me over my Sony (which is a good radio, I might add - I bought at least 4 of them over the years) is in its interference immunity. I recently installed a LCD monitor at work inside a building that attenuates AM pretty severely. The tremendous amount digital whining and other irritating noise that thing spews out coupled with a weak signal was intolerable. This radio deals with those issues MUCH better. At home, I live near a very noisy power line that virtually wipes my favorite weak station. This radio brings that signal in to a degree that I can easily listen to it everywhere in my house. I am not kidding here, I can actually see it arching at night! No other portable radio I have does anywhere near as well (I have several other Sangean shortwave radios as well). Even my beloved Drake R8 is pretty worthless although I have yet to give it a proper antenna (building that 3' tuned loop antenna is one of those weekend projects I have yet to get to). Overall, for a portable, its weak signal performance and interference immunity is absolutely spectacular.

The sound quality is very good. I have noticed some hiss on very weak signals however the drastically improved signal fidelity may account for my increased awareness of this.

I like the controls. I find that they are easy to use for me. They aren't perfect but they don't hinder either. The volume control is a little too sensitive but it is manageable. I love having 10 channels on AM! My Sony only allowed for only 5. Setting them is painless. It also has an auto seek feature not present on my Sony. The swivel belt clip is a very nice innovation. That was a major problem for me with my Sony. I constantly was hooking the radio on things while it was hanging on my belt and breaking the belt clip off. For a while, I thought I should invest in an epoxy company. This clip design seems to have pretty much solved that problem. Also, it is easy to adjust the radio orientation vertically on your belt to maximize reception.

I really don't care much about FM but it seems to perform well - at least until we get some stations here worth listening to. I would agree with another reviewer that the included ear-buds tend to saturate with the DBB setting. The ear-buds sound good enough though and if you buy some better headphones, it sounds great! I don't need the TV reception at all but it seems adequate. I also like the fact that it has a speaker with very small increase in size over my Sony. The speaker isn't at all tinny sounding as one might expect it would.

The battery life seems to be very good as well. I have been running the radio off of some "used" batts borrowed from one of my semi-retired Sonys for a half a week and they are still going strong. I usually got about a week of worth of use with the Sony from a fresh set so I am encouraged. It certainly isn't any worse.

I have bought another one for use at home.

Bottom line, I don't have a whole lot to say that is bad about this radio. At this price, it is worth every penny. The only thing I wish it had was a back lit display but I guess that is what flashlights are for.

Summary: As good as i had hoped!
Review: I bought this as a gold box offer and am happy for it. This little guy keeps a solid connection in Chicago's downtown which is notorious for interference due to a few "tall" buildings here and there.
I can get AM/FM and TV in the Loop without sounding like it's being broadcast from a cave in Mongolia.
Worth every dime. It loses a star only because you have to manually scan for your presets. Nothing I can't live with though.

Summary: Does the job
Review: I bought this using the gold box offer and I'm pretty happy with it. It gets better reception than most little walkmen style radios. The two best features are: (1) the ability to set favorites and click through them while I'm at the gym or even on the train and (2) the size. I use it with my good headphones and it makes a difference.

Summary: Nifty little radio
Review: I got this radio to listen to the baseball games. Reception can be tough in our area, but this radio does as good a job as any. I use it only for AM, but am very satisfied with its size and sound (I use the tiny speaker). It meets my needs perfectly.

Summary: Great Radio, Great Price
Review: I had an earlier Sangean, which I used to death. This has been a great replacement. I have used it for over 3 months now, at least once per day. Clear reception, and can pull AM stations from far away at night. The built-in speaker is a great improvement over earlier models - very loud and clear. And the auto-shut off is a battery saver. Battery life is quite long, and the removeable belt clip makes it easier to lay flat when not toting. I have dropped this a few times, with no ill effects.

It would be nice if there was a little case for the radio, but otherwise I recommend highly.

Summary: A Robust Little Radio
Review: I had my eye on this radio for a few days and purchased it when it came up as a Gold Box Special. I'm very glad I did.

This little radio does a great job, especially for AM purposes, where my favorite newsradio stations are. I had no trouble tuning in on my favorite stations (AM and FM) including one station that broadcasts from Tampa, FL that I'm able to pull in from the opposite coast. The TV does quite well, but my area only uses 3 or 4 channels within the 2 to 13 range, so I hardly use that band area.

The only surprise (for me) came with the needed use of an antenna for the FM and TV stations. Normally, the wire for the ear buds works as the antenna, but if you use the on-board speaker (which works great) you'll need to use the included antenna wire which plugs into the ear bud jack. But that's not a big overall deal.

The first day I used it I accidently dropped it on the brick floor with no ill effects. One battery popped out from the impact. It still works fine - just a few tiny nicks in the front.

I'm glad I didn't buy a cheaper radio, which is what I had originally set out to do. I like this radio. It's easy to handle, it's already taken a beating, and it works really nice. I look forward to using it for years to come.

Summary: Great radio!
Review: I live in a mountainous area that makes it difficult to pick up some AM stations. This radio is everything I hoped it would be. The reception is far superior to any other radio I've owned, and the digital tuning keeps the stations from fading in and out. The sound quality is excellent. AM talk doesn't sound tinny, and FM stereo (w/headphones) is full and rich. Programming and using the presets can be a little confusing (buttons could be configured better), but this is not a serious flaw. I love this radio.

Summary: Great Service
Review: I love this Radio.

After about 4 months, the power switch stopped working. I contacted Sangean and they replaced it for free. That's great service.

During the time I was without it, I realize how much I missed it. The reception is great, the sound is good, and the size let's me take it around the house.

I had previously bought a small radio by Sharper Image which wasn't half as good although it costs more.

Summary: What's wrong with this picture?
Review: I never heard of anything that calls itself a TV that doesn't have a picture. The little screen tells you what station you are on and I could hear Oprah talking, but that's all there is: Sound and no picture. The sound wasn't even that clear.

So that's why the ad didn't mention whether it was black and white or color (color seemed far fetched but with LCD screens it seemed possible) and it seemed remarkable that you would be able to see much on such a little screen, but in these high tech days and at such a good price it seemed worth a try.

This is probably for people who want to listen to televised games while working and wouldn't be able to look at the screen anyway.
