Summary: Could be better
Review: I just receive my radio and tried to set it on a station. I was on my patio and the light was low. I could not see the station dial. It was impossible to see. I took the radio in doors, selected a station and return ourdoors to listen to it.

A simple little light bulb would be all that this radio needed. Very little thought went into the design of the users friendly features. Secondly, why don't we make anything in this country any longer? This has the GE Logo but is made in China.

Summary: Nice unit..IF you get a good one.
Review: The first GE Superadio III I bought [went bad] after a few months. Tuning went buggy. I'm not good fixing anything but the old tube radios so I just bought a new unit. So far it is working well. You may have to go through a few till you find a good one so keep the shipping stuff.
This radio is a good deal for the money and performs well.
The CC radio is better constructed but it's audio does not compare to the GE unit and is far more [pricey]. The CC radio does have a digital tuner as opposed the the GE analog tuner. The GE unit is much better on batteries. CC radio has 4 "D"s. GE has 6 "D" cells.

Summary: Portable Radio
Review: I was looking for an AM radio to be used in a remote location without AC power, I was concerned that the large speaker would drain the batteries, so I did my own test using energizer batteries, the radio ran continuously for 768+ hours (32 days), volume setting was around 3. No complaints here.

Summary: GE Superadio
Review: The Superadio III is by far the best portable out there for the money. DX-ing is a breeze and the FM reception is second to none. I highly recommend this radio to anyone who lives in an area where reception is a problem.

Summary: How do I find the station?
Review: This radio sounds good, but it could really use a lighted dial. With such a dark background, the numbers are barely visible.

Summary: A GOOD LITTLE DINOSAUR.
Review: THIS IS JUST A SHORT REVIEW TO TELL ANY PROSPECTIVE BUYER TO GO AHEAD AND GET THIS FINE PERFORMER. THE ONLY REASON I GAVE IT A FAIRLY "NEUTRAL " RATING IS BECAUSE THIS MODEL IS BARE BONES ON FEATURES.( NO LIGHTED DIAL, NO PUSHBUTTONS AND A DIAL INDICATOR THAT'S NOT AT ALL ACCURATE ). BUT THE TONE IS VERY GOOD AND THE BASS AND TREBLE TUNERS ACTUALLY MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN SOUND. I HAVE AT LEAST A HUNDRED HOURS ON THE BATTERIES AND THERE'S NO SIGN OF THEM FADING OUT. THE RADIO IS TERRIFIC AT PICKING AND HOLDING AM STATIONS AND HAS GOOD SELECTIVITY AND SENSITIVITY . FM, WHICH IS USUALLY NOT A PROBLEM ANYWHERE, IS PERFECTLY TUNED BY THIS MODEL AND HAS AN AFC WHICH WORKS WELL. THE PURPOSE OF THESE RADIOS, FOR MY THINKING,IS THE AM TUNING CAPABILITIES AND THIS SUPER RADIO DOES IT FOR A BARGAIN PRICE. IT'S A 5 STAR PERFORMER STASHED IN A PLAIN BROWN ENVELOPE. I HEARTILY RECOMMEND IT TO YOU.

Summary: Great Value!!!
Review: It is my misfortune to live in a "fringe" FM reception area; the station I regularly listen to is 75 miles away. I have tried various combination shortwave/AM/FM radios over the past few years and none had better than "so-so" sound on FM. I'd read about this radio for many years and when I saw it on Amazon , figured it was worth a try. I have been very pleasantly surprised! The radio is very large, but has very large speakers that, combined with separate bass and treble controls, produce a very good quality sound. The tuner section is highly sensitive, even on FM. After I loaded the six D cells into it, I have never even plugged it into the wall and it has been used daily for several hours for many months now. The build quality is a little cheesy, but if it weren't it would weigh as much as an anchor. If you want good quality audio and reception at a very reasonable price and don't mind a large portable, this is a winner.

Summary: Fine reception, poor quality..
Review: First of all, this is a fine radio for AM radio reception.. BUT, the radio that I received is bad. Intermittently, the volume goes down to nothing..I can hear it only humming..

A one year warranty comes with it and I bought mine about two months ago.. It's going back but I'm afraid that since the problem is intermittent, it won't be fixed.. Been there, done that..

Never the less, it's a great radio as far as reception..

Guess what? I bought another one today.. One for work, one for home use.. I'm sure I'll have to do without the original for a while it's being repaired though.

I rate this radio very high for sound quality and reception (design) yet very low for quality of the build.. Never-the-less, they do have a year warranty unlike most consumer products which generally are 90 days..

Keep the reciept.

Summary: Everything you've heard is true.
Review: A friend of mine had this radio for listening to sports. We live in a small town and have trouble receiving AM stations from the city on normal radios. With the Superadio, there's no problem. The tuner is sensitive and easy to use, the speaker sounds good, and the dials are tough. I think this radio is a perfect part of anyone's emergency kit. You'd be able to tune in stations from far away in the event of a power outage in your area. So far I've used mostly the batteries for power and they're lasting nicely (the product instructions say they'll last for 460 hours of on time). Do yourself a favor and buy this radio, it's a fun toy and a useful tool.

Summary: Everyone needs this radio!
Review: If this were a Hot-Rod, it would be "Souped-Up" If it were a computer, it would be "upgraded". Take any product, put better componets into it, and you have a better product. That is what GE did.
The Super Radio lengthened the Antenna for Pulling in signals other radios can't see! I live in Cleveland and get clear signals from Michigan, and PA. 6 "D" cells mean your radio won't die a couple hours later. A seperate woofer and tweeter mean that each can do the job they were designed to do. The list goes on, but for [the price], it is the Radio Bargain of the century!! You might even find yourself turning off the TV...
