Summary: I've had this radio for a few years...
Review: and I bought one for my dad also. The thing I like about it is it pulls in the AM stations very well. I listen to a lot of talk radio in the office and the other *cheap* boom box type radios cannot cut through the computer generated RF but this one discriminates and I can hear the stations. Also, the large speaker works wonderfully for rich sound better than most stereo boxes. It is also very inexpensive. I would recommend to anyone.

Summary: Good value
Review: I just purchased this radio. It has an excellent reception comparable to portable radios that cost over [price], and the quality of sound is very good.

Pros:
- reception quality on both AM and FM bands;
- has a built-in power cord, may use batteries as well.
- attractive price for the quality you get.

Cons:
- a bit heavy, I assume primarily due to speakers (it has two, one of which is quite large) and built-in power adapter;
- cavity in the back to hide the thick power cord can barely accommodate the cord; I managed to back it back after several tries.
- vernier (non-digital) tuning and no ability to pre-program stations; at the same apparently due to excellent reception, dial range for stations is very large, so tuning to a station is not a problem at all.
- built-in power adapter makes a constant humming noise that at lower volume levels can be heard within 2-3 ft form the radio; I assume this is not a problem when using batteries.

Summary: Excellent AM Recevier
Review: The large AM antenna built into this recevier along with supurb electronics make this an excellent radio for hard to hear stations. The treble and bass controls combined with the large speaker system (woofer and tweeter) deliver crystal clear audio.
This unit was designed for superior AM performance, so it is not stereo, but excellent Hi-Fi mono. There are external AM/FM antenna connectors along with a grounding connector. Difficult reception problems (like metal buildings) can be overcome with an external antenna and/or earth grounding.

No non-sense with the Superadio; it does what it's designed to do, and does it very well; at an exceptionally great price too!

Summary: Cheap, great, buy one!
Review: I'm a radio nut and own all kinds of radios. Most AM/FM radios made in the last 20 years are pretty poor, especially the AM part. As a kid I loved to tune my table top "Invicta" radio and hear broadcast stations from thousands of miles away. The Super Radio brings back those times with a very simple and inexpensive design. It has excellent AM reception (FM isn't too bad) fantastic battery life and wonderful sound. Quality control isn't all that good, but what do you want for [this amount of money]. You can use it camping (not backpacking), in the backyard or by the bedside. I sometimes listen to Art Bell but I don't want to wait until midnight so I tune in East Coast stations and pick him up an hour earlier. Buy one of these. If you want to spend more money you can get even better reception and more sophisticated controlls by getting a CCrain CCRadio, but they cost over 3X as much.

Review: Really excellent reception. Very good sound quality. Separate treble and bass controls.

I was surprised by the good reception. Highly recommended.

Summary: GE-3 Super radio recomendation
Review: I've had these radios for over 20 years from the orginal Super radio,the II,& now two III's. I have two III's at present. I've given them as gifts frequently. I'm a boater & outdoors type & really require a radio that picks up from a long distance. Battery life is phenomenal, water abuse easily tollerated to the Extreme ! They last forever. You may ask , if so, why have you had so many ? Good question. The answer is (1) they don't float, (2) they don't like being run over by my truck, and (3) unfortunatly others also admired my GE-3 when my back was turned !The best quality is GE kept to the KISS theory with this design, Keep It Simple Stupid ---

Summary: Excellent value! A+++
Review: The GE Superadio rules the competition in its price range. I use my headphone jack with no problem. While the sound is not stereo it does not claim to be a stereo; the sound is very good quality even if mono. I like this product so much I am giving my mother one for Mother's Day. She lives in a remote rural area and down in a valley, so radio reception is weak. With this radio I am confident that she will be able to pick up a better variety of radio stations. If you want a high quality AM/FM radio that is easy to use... this is it.

Summary: Does what is expected!
Review: This radio has the best sound around. The distant reception is excellent on AM, especially at night. I am not a big FM fan but the reception is acceptable. Only negative is the lack of a lighted dial and the calibration on the dial is not perfect. However, most DX'ers know by "sound feel" where they are in the dark. For the money this is a wonderful value. Lots of bang for the buck. Even with shipping, its a great value.

Summary: follow-up review
Review: A few months ago, I wrote a review on this very good performer. I have yet to change my mind or the batteries, for that matter. It is annoying to have to tune, perhaps and devoid of extras. But it does the job with clear reception and good tone.I use this model every day. It is durable and an excellent value.

Summary: hiss, snap, & crackle
Review: Let me preface this by saying I am no radio expert. All I wanted was good sound quality on FM. I have been trying for an hour to get my new Superadio III tuned in without any noise, but there is a constant hiss. (When listening to classical music, the hiss is very noticable during the quiet moments.) There are other occasional noises too. I tried every feature and antenna position, including batteries vs. AC cord, but nothing helps. If you are sensitive to background noise, you won't be satisfied with this radio even though it is a bargain. If it weren't for the noise I would like the sound; it is mono but rich and powerful.
I don't like the huge dimensions (9 h X 13 w X 3.5 d) but I could have lived with that. I'm going to have to return it.
