Summary: They got it right!
Review: Being a former ham radio operator in the 60's, I appreciate the features GE put back in their "SUPERRADIO" that used to be standard. The best is the tuned RF stage that pulls in distance stations with ease. Second is the dual power feature: a line cord comes built in, and in battery mode, it takes 6 "D" cells so they last a very long time. Third, Two loudspeakers give amazing sound
quality and volume. It's hard to believe you can buy this for under $50.00! This is a great radio and I will be buying more for
Christmas presents.

Summary: Super Radio not so super
Review: Debated if I should get this or the much more expensive
CC Radio Plus,The GE works fine, but I don't think it pulls in the distant AM stations any better than my $5.00 AM radio.
if distant stations are what you want, might be better to spend
the extra bucks for the CC Radio Plus

Summary: SUPER RADIO
Review: The GE 7-2887 Superadio III is just that. A super radio. Soon after moving to the Orlando area I found that the 3 FM radios I used in NY were not good enough to receive the one station that carried the Howard Stern Show. I did not require a CD or Tape player, so I shopped around for an AM- FM radio that was capable of bringing in weak stations from afar. Everything pointed to this GE SuperradioIII. I placed my order with Amazon and the radio arrived at my house in three days. The next morning I plugged it in and Howard came in loud and clear for the first time in three months. The sound quality is unbelievably good. It has an AFC switch which fine tunes the station, and locks it in. Now the bad news. Exactly two weeks from the day my GE Superadio arrived, HowardStern was canceled in Orlando. I can now listen to all the second rate morning shows Orlando has to offer, LOUD AND CLEAR. Great Radio

Summary: This is a great radio
Review: I've had mine for almost 2 years now. I work construction (drywall) so my radio is showing it's age. Part of the antenna is missing and it's black finish is partially covered with paint and drywall mud. But, it still works well and I listen to it almost every day. Battery life is also EXCELLENT!. I would highly recommend this radio. With the wear and tear my radio gets due to my job, I'm amazed that it still works so well. I know it will not last forever under these conditions so when It is time for a replacement, I will buy the exact same radio from Amazon.

Summary: AM Stations from tuner-stop to tuner-stop (in the daytime!)
Review: Here in the mountains of Western NC, you're lucky to pick up 2 or 3 audible AM stations on a "standard portable" during daylight hours. I ordered the SRIII thinking it would improve matters somewhat. Little did I know that what I'd be getting would pick up a solid 39 stations from 530KC to 1710KC! In the daytime! I can pick up WBT-AM 1110KC (and about 85 miles away) in the daytime with a local station (only 2 miles away) broadcasting on 1130KC. That's virtually impossible with a standard radio. If this unit has one minor flaw, it's that the dial is off on AM by about 30KC. That's a minor annoyance compared to the sensitivity and selectivity of this radio!

Summary: Great sound, great price!!
Review: You can not go wrong with this radio!! You can adjust the bass and treble to your liking. It has a wonderful, full, rich, warm sound. I have had my first radio like this for many years! It still sounds as good as new. The new radio I purchased as an additional, is as just a fine quality as the old one, from years ago. You can tune in stations on this radio from far away quite clearly. The sound of the radio is awesome, especially for something this size and price!!

Summary: Exactly as expected
Review: This radio compares favorably to my two CCRadios....It has a slide rule tuning system, and you can more accurately tune into a specific station. At night, the selectivity switch really shines, as you can tune in distant stations easily, or eliminate the interference...It is a different radio, and I like both this one and the CCRadios....For the money, unbeatable. The tuning dial is not at all accurate, but that is no big deal, once you know where the stations are that you want to tune in....I also like the advertised battery life, although I have not tested the longevity of the batteries yet.
So I say get one of these even if you are going to get a CCRadio....they are both pretty much the best am radios going...

Summary: Best radio ever!!!
Review: This is the best sounding radio ever, especially for it's size!!! You can adjust the bass & treble to your liking! I have the first one I purchased many years ago, it still works perfectly!! I have recently purchased an additional one, it is just as good as the original. It is easy to bring in stations on this radio that don't come in clearly on other radios. This is a solid, sturdy radio, like the ones from years ago. The radio has a full, rich warm sound, from its large speaker. It is hard to believe a radio so compact can sound so big and wonderful!

Summary: excellant am section...BUT
Review: I decided to purchase this radio to replace my 20 year old Superadio II I use at work. It was not what I had expected. My old Superadio II had excellant FM reception where I work but this radio seems to be "noisy" with more background interferance. Don't get me wrong...this is a great radio if your outside or a fan of talk radio. This would make a great pool radio...but that's not why I bought it...I'm returning to Amazon and sticking with my old Superadio II till something better comes along.

Summary: Every house (apartment) needs one
Review: I was thinking about a radio for a while. The big NY blackout put me over the top and I got the GE.

I've been highly impressed with the Superadio III over the last six months. Reception is great - it succeeds where numerous (Clarion car stereo, for example) others fail. I've been running AC power, but this unit is supposed to play for 400 hours on D cells. So I'm ready if I need to be.

It's not going to win a beauty contest, but it's highly functional, and the design is a classic. This reminds me of the ancient XAM with paint stains that sat on the kitchen counter back home. Everyone shoud have one.
