Summary: Another Excellent Product from Sony
Review: In terms of electronics, no one does it like Sony. I love Sony products because of the quality and the ease of use. This CD player was bought in replacement after I lost my last one. My former CD player was also a Sony and after having it for 3 years it was showing no signs of wear. But, since I lost it, I was forced to buy a new one. The D-FJ210 is an excellent player which lives up to the Sony standard of quality. There are several pros and a few petty cons that I will list.

Pros:
* Excellent sound quality
* Many many preset slots, you could easily save every one of your favorite radio stations
* Good reception of FM/AM radio frequencies, TV reception is far more touchy
* Slim and sleek design allows for various uses
* VERY DURABLE. Believe me, I have dropped this player countless times from tops of counters, outside, from the car, etc. There are a few small nicks to show for all this. I've had the radio or even a CD playing when its been dropped and it was not disrupted.
* The ESP is perfect, you can even have the player upside down while reading a disc without any change in performance.
* Ease of use, very simple to operate.
* BATTERY LIFE!!! I hardly ever change my batteries, maybe once a month if I was using the CD player often during that month. If I was infrequently using the CD player and just the radio, it would be around 2 monthes before needing to change the batteries. Its wonderful.
* This player does play CD-Rs/CD-RWs. Check the back of the player, on the black sticker that contains all the techincal info. At the bottom, it clearly says CD-R/CD-RW. I have never had a problem playing CD-Rs, which I mostly use. If you do have a problem, it could be because the format is still MP3 and this player does not read that.

Cons:
* Small buttons, but fixed by the included remote (which does work very well. Since the remote is so small the "stop" button serves 2 purposes, turn off CD player and turn on radio. You have to press quickly to turn of player and hold to turn on radio. Simple.)
* I'm not sure if this is unique to my player, but when it spins the CD to start it makes a loud whirring noise and when you change songs, there is another noise.
* The player also slightly vibrates while reading the CD
* TV reception is very touchy and you cannot walk around while using it as it will begin to get fuzzy.
* I cannot get the weather band to work for some reason. Not a big deal though, because I'd rather check the news or internet for weather.

And thats about it. The cons aren't really big, they are just small things that one could find about any CD player

Bottom line: Durable, quality, great, and easy to use. What more could you want?

Summary: Poor Sound Quality
Review: My biggest complaint abot this unit is the fact that the sound quality suffers greatly at maximum volume, with the bass up. At first, I thought it was my headphones (also Sony), but after trying a new brand and different sources, I realized that the problem lied with the player itself. Once it's clouded up, you'll have to "reset" the audio by popping the batteries out for a couple seconds; merely shutting off the bass or decreasing the volume won't solve it.

My player also seems to prefer being kept in a horizontal position at all times. Tucking it into my purse causes it to skip often when the batteries are around half-power, regardless of whether or not the "G-Protection" is on. The unit will fall silent for a few moments and then resume playing from a few seconds ahead of where it left off. It's not just skipping; it has basically omitted a section of music.

As for the TV/Radio bands, they do seem to have trouble picking up reasonably strong signals. I can only ever get 2 television stations to come in strongly, and I live in a metropolitan area.

All in all, I am disappointed with Sony's product. The inclusion of TV/AM/FM/Weather capabilities is very nice, I just wish that they would all operate at full capacity. Though I purchase Sony products more often than not, I have owned significantly cheaper units that have functioned more reliably.

Summary: Sound is great, but CD-RW playback is flimsy and lousy
Review: This is a great CD player and the sound and bass is great but the only problem is the CD-RW playback. For some reason, the CD-RW disc has to be more of a very high quality grade and must have absolutely no scratches or the sound will be erratic when it skips. If you dont use CD-RW's then, you should have this CD player because it is great with everything except CD-RW's.

Summary: Great CD Player
Review: This is an excellent CD Player. With AM, FM, TV, and Weather bands, it suits everyone's needs. I love listening to the basic channels (ABC,NBC,CBS,and FOX)and catching my favorite shows on the go! It is equiped with the best skip protection that I have ever seen! The handy remote thingy is an added bonus that I have grown to love. There is an AVLS that keeps sound from getting so loud that it is distorted, but you can turn it off at any time and the digital volume is amazingly precise. This is the greatest CD player that I have ever owned! I highly reccomend it!

Summary: Sony may have gotten this one right......
Review: Today, I picked up this CD player. I had heard all the hype about it, and I wanted a new one after my old one had been broken. The many features on this are really worth it for money. You get 7 channels on the weatherband and 2-13 on the TV. It is not the fault of the designers that these are the only channels because I believe the FCC doesn't allow any more. The tuning is digital which was an absolute must for me. The FM and AM dial come in pretty good as well. It took quite awhile to learn all the buttons. The problem is that almost all of them have more than one function. Don't panick about the reception when you first start using this CD player. The "P Mode" button allows for local or distant reception when held down. The local reception allows for clear listening on the FM dial. Another confusing part was where to plug in the remote. In this player you do NOT plug the headphones in directly, that is unless you don't want to use the remote. The headphone plug must be connected to the remote, and the remote plug attached to the player. One outstanding thing Sony did was to have the battery holder on the inside of the player. I thought that was clever. The sound quality is superb, and the mega bass very crisp. The design is quite compact and easy to carry.
The only huge downside is the poor volume levels with the TV and weatherbands. I wish Sony would have made an equalizer to even out the sound. The buttons on the actual player are small and annoying at times. Setting the presets takes a little time, but isn't unreasonable. The headphones aren't the best, but the remote makes up for it.
Don't pay more than 70 dollars for this player and it will be worth your money. I am not sure about the reliabilty because I have only had the player for a couple hours. If it lasts a few years (like I think it will), it gets 4 stars.
