Summary: Better than silver
Review: I have burned thousands of CDs over the years and have never had an error. I've used every brand on the market, CD-R data and CD-R music. I use a Creative CD-RW with Nero 5.5 or Cakewalk Pyro 1.5. The Memorex CD-R Black seems to be more durable than the silver ones. Sometimes my CD-ROM has problems reading the silver ones, but has never had a problem with black CD-Rs.

Summary: Good, but kinda a waste ofthe extra money.
Review: Yeah, yeah, it works better with the the fancy black dye, but it dosen't work on my Phillips DVD players and loads slower on older cd players. Besides it only comes in 50packs.

Summary: Pretty impressive
Review: As a "Memorex CD-R Media" Hater i was reluctant to buy them at first. Now im buying my second set of them because I loved the way they looked, and performed. On the technical part, I can say they seem to be made different from the regular white label ones, because on these ones the label didn't peel off after a month. I had no problem playing them on my mp3/car stereo, home stereo, DVD_ROM drive, home theather, not even on my sister's 5 year old boom box. A+, very impressive media.

Summary: Good CD Quality
Review: Black CD R is cool, and memorex has done a good job in providing this high quality black cd r.

Summary: Do not use these for music
Review: The "silver" or white CDs with the blue packaging do not work for music. That's why they are so cheap. Only one of my CD players could read these burned discs at all and for the short time that the player played the disc, it was garbled and full of static. I made a lot of coasters trying to get one right and tried many different recording speeds and settings. All produced the same result. And since other CD-Rs have worked, I know it is not my computer system or my players. (Note if you go to Memorex's web site, they have discs labeled specifically for music and these are not them!)

Summary: GREAT value. GREAT quality.
Review: These are fantastic. I bought one of these 50-spindles, have gone through about 30 of them so far, without tossing one out because of an error. Every one of these has recorded my music and data without a hitch. As a bonus, they have a nifty black color instead of the usual silver, so you feel like you're holding little records(*) in your hands instead of CDs.

(*) By the way, "records" were these round things that people used to use a LONG time ago to play "music", which was a collection of sounds that were made by people who used these things called "instruments" and had "talent", but I digress.

Summary: Not good . . .
Review: I've purchased a lot of disks made by a variety of manufacturers over the past few years and I've never had so many bad disks in a batch. I had expected Memorex to have decent quality, but at least 10 of my spindle of 50 were faulty. Even if they are inexpensive, they are not worth the hassle.

Summary: Memorex cd-r white label / green disks nothing but trouble.
Review: I bought a 50 disk spindle of the Memorex 700 mb/80 minute cd-r's (white label, green disks) and have had nothing but trouble with them. They seem to play ok on my computer but when I try them in other players they either will not play at all, or they wind up sounding like a scratched record. They get stuck and play the same phases over and over again like the old records use to do and you often can't change tracks with them. I thought at first that it was my brand new HP cd-writer, but using Maxell or Verbatim cd-r's produce great quality reproductions; so it is definately these disks. Many of the people doing the rating here are rating the black disks, which I haven't, and do not intend, to try. One of the reviewers said they got a big rebate with these things; I'm not surprised. My advice is that unless the rebate is substancially more then the purchase price - steer clear.

Summary: Nearly flawless
Review: With any product that you purchase in large quantities you are bound to have a few lemons. I've now gone through two complete spindles and I can only think of one cd that didn't burn correctly. Admittedly that could be due to user error.
It's true the writing surface on the cd could be larger but rarely is this an issue. Plus, shiney objects confuse me and have a tendency to bring on small uncontrollable fits so the black surface is nice. (just kidding)

Summary: The Best Buy on 80 Minute CDs.
Review: These are full length (700 MB) disks that are able to take advantage of today's faster CD burners (my 24X Yamaha burns a full one in <3 mins!). The price per disk can't be bettered, and the quality of the first 50 I got was 100% perfection. Sweet!
