Summary: This machine is perfect !!! I feel lucky to own it !
Review: Just got this machine from a [store] with ... discount coupon. The set up is easy, user friendly. I am running window XP professional edition and the software set up is perfect and smooth. I have already tested the print, fax, copy and scan function. It seems perfect on my machine. What's wrong other people said they couldn't set it up on window XP ? Hey ! This machine is really good with that price. Thanks HP...I am very lucky to have a chance to own this machine.

Summary: A satisfied Customer
Review: Don't let the problematic XP reviews fool you. HP posted a new PSC2210 driver set for WindowsXP on their website on 2003-01-31. This printer is a great value. I wish it could accomodate all 3 cartridges at the same time to avoid swapping between text and photo; however, it is still a good bang for the buck.

Just one complaint. The cost of the cartridges is high and they do not go very far. Be prepared and keep some extras on hand.

Summary: Great all around
Review: I just can't see why people have problems installing this baby. I have windows ME and after fallowing setup poster i had no problem using this machine. It took me twenty minutes from the time i got it out of the box to my first printed page. Scanner works great and so do the photo printing. Haven't used fax or memory card but so far i could't be happier with this product. I have been shopping around for all-in-one and for the money this is the best deal in any town.

Summary: Think twice (maybe even three times) before you buy this!
Review: I have spent the last hour trying to set up my parents' new 2210; it has already jammed seven times just trying to align the print cartridges! Don't waste your money on this thing; there must be a better printer out there.

Summary: Worth every cent
Review: This printer works great. I like the digital photo features. I have not used the fax machine yet. Good quality printer. The HP ink cartridges are a little pricy, and they're small.

Summary: Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat
Review: I set this printer up for my son in law and ran off a few pictures from my Minolta Dimage 5 digital camera. The pictures were better than I would have got from a film. I printed a proof sheet, selected the prints I wanted, in the size and quantity I wanted, pressed the button and Lo! perfect prints, up to letter size. The printer did it all!!!.
I am going to get one for myself.

Summary: Great all in one, decent photo printer
Review: Printed 8x10 photo, taken with a Olympus Camedia 3000 digital camera, in HP's photo glossy paper and got such a good result that gave up on the idea of buying a dedicated photo printer.

Hyper-fast draft printing mode that is a God-send to print proofs of texts. Text quality is acceptable for an inkjet, but far from a laser printer. If you need high quality text go for a laser.

Easy to use as a copier or fax. Instructions on the LCD are in plain english and easy to follow.

Very good software to print photos, could be better on image editting - but I think that would be asking to much from HP. :-)

Overall, great printer for small/home office in search of a do it all machine that doubles as a nice photo printer while printing acceptable inkjet-like text!

Summary: Excellent Printer, bad software
Review: I got an excellent deal for this highly rated printer. Photo printing was amazing so was the copying and scanning. I used HP 58 for photo printing and printed both 4x6 and 8x10 photos with excellent results. Where this printer fails is the poorly written drivers and software. I connected to an XP/P4 machine with 512MB RAM. Scanning 8x10 photo at any bit rate resulted in memory errors. Apart from scanning, I experienced frequent freezes and HP processes will not shut down when I shut down the pc and had to be killed via Task Manager. HP sent me an updated software CD which didn't help. I returned the printer. Shame on HP.

Summary: Best compact all-in-one!
Review: I wanted an all-in-one (printer, scanner, copier, and fax) for quite a long while. After some extensive research (comparisons and bargain-hunting), I fell in love with this machine! The look, feel, reputability, features...all passed my "buyability" test. I got my husband to buy it for me as my Christmas gift. He loves it too! The copy speed and color quality is great! and it fits neatly on the computer workstation.
This is also a great product to buy if you have a digital camera. It comes with its own port that fits almost all digital cards. I used to have to 'hook up' the cable from my camera to the computer, but now all I have to do is insert it in the machine and it will instantly print a proofsheet for you and/or you can just easily save the pics on your computer.
This is really a great buy!!

Summary: Good hardware profile, but Software was a major problem.
Review: I looked at many models to replace my scanner, HP color printer, and brother fax machine, and finally decided on the PSC 2210. The feature list was extensive, the price was good (with the holiday sales) and the low-profile size was perfect for my office. I was very excited when the printer finally arrived at the doorstep.

Unfortunately, after several days of diagnostics, installing and uninstalling drivers, applications, and operating systems, I'm excited to return this product and end my headaches.

From the start, the software had problems installing. It would stop mysteriously at 19% or 49% and I couldn't even kill the process using Task Manager (win2k + winXP). When I finally got the software installed, after many reboots, I encountered several lockups. You cannot just install a small suite of drivers: you have to install an extensive application suite (~150 MB).

Scanning was the most problematic. I had problems using third-party programs and scanning via TWAIN. The scanner would start scanning, but wouldn't complete the scan. Then the programs would complain that it couldn't find the scanner. To start the whole process over again, I had to turn the printer off then on, and restart the computer. I never completed a scan 100%.

I even went so far as to completely install a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro on a separate partition, "test run" the OS for a few hours, and then install the HP Printer Software. Same problems immediately after installing the software. I even encountered applications hangs while uninstalling the software.

For those who will continue and buy this printer, the only advice I can give you is to make sure you can return this printer, and to test out all the features immediately when you get it. My paystub doesn't say "HP Quality Assurance Department", so I'm returning the printer.
