Summary: It Worked Great
Review: Initially I began to use the D1250U2 scanner with windows XP on an older slot A athlon system. Everything worked great, the scanner and software enabled me to scan dozens of family pictures for a scrapbook. I was very pleased with the ease and the quality of the scanned photo. Then I upgraded to a new t-bred athlon xp, new nvidia 2 motherboard and I have not been able to use my scanner since. XP will not recognize my scanner. I cannot load the twain drivers. XP tells me my USB device (the scanner) is defective and needs to be replaced. I have exhausted the world wide web for an answer.

Before the change I was so pleased, now I'm not so.

Summary: DEFINATELY WORTH MORE THAN THE PRICE
Review: JUST GOT IT, A WEEK EARLY THAT WAS COOL! SET IT UP IN 15 AND MY TRIAL SCANS ARE PERFECT. LEARNING MY WAY AROUND THE ABUNDANT SOFTWARE NOW. BEST OF ALL, IT COMES WITH A ONE YEAR PARTS AND LABOR WARRANTY FROM CANON AT NO EXTRA COST. LET ME PLAY AROUND WITH IT, THEN WRITE ANOTHER REVIEW.

Summary: Canon Tech Support No Good, Software No Good for XP
Review: My primary complaint is that after buying this scanner and software and finding it doesn't work for XP, I could get no techical assistance from Canon at its web site. Not only that, the malfunctioning software at the site causes no end of frustration while wasting the customer's time.

In order to send an e-mail you must enter the product number. But they do not tell you what is the product number or where to find it. I tried with many different numbers: the serial number on the bottom of the scanner, the model number in the documentation, and D125OU2 itself.

Each time, the e-mail is rejected and you are back to having to retype everything.

Second complaint. This model is supposed to work on XP. It doesn't. You get a warning that it will destabilize your system and that MS advises you "do not continue" with the installation.

Third complaint. This model is outdated. You can't find any drivers for it at Canon. It seems to have been replaced by the D125OU2F. However, I bought the scanner without the F. How can I find out if the F software will work for it?

How can I find out anything, since Canon won't accept my e-mails?

Summary: Its all good!
Review: So far so good, great buy for thirty-seven dollars (with the ten dollar Holiday Gift Certificate). It's a PC Magazine editors choice, so that's good enough for me. If you want some reviews before spending your cash, search for the D1250U2F unit on this site. They are the same scanner, except the F model comes with a transparency unit and USB 2.0 card.

Summary: slow, buttons don't work as advertised
Review: The buttons on the front of the scanner don't work as advertised, so I have to go in through the software to initiate a scan. Scans are slow but good enough quality. You're better off spending a little more money for a quality product.

Summary: So far so good.
Review: The scanner arrived while I was at home and my non-tech savvy girlfriend setup it within a few minutes. The software that comes with the D1250U2 is pretty much all you need to start scanning images ASAP. I must have scanned 75+ items in the first night with no problems, the 5-10 second initialization delay for each scan didnt seem to keep me from being productive. Every image looks clear and identically colorful to it's original. I am very pleased for the price I paid for the D1250U2.

Summary: Fantastic
Review: This is a great scanner for the price. I scanned in a low quality printout of some pictures and the scanner actually enhanced the image and it looks like the original photo now. It's fast and furious.
