The Microtek ScanMaker 3800 provides high-quality scanning at an accessible price. Easy enough for first-timers to use, but with enough features to keep experienced folks happy, the scanner features 1,200 x 600 dpi optical resolution and true 48-bit color for vibrant colors. A nice bonus is the EDGE design, making the ScanMaker 3800 a 25 percent-smaller scanner with a small footprint--but still with an 8.5-by-11.7-inch scanning area, and lots of features. The five "easy touch" buttons let you scan, copy, e-mail, scan to the Web, or use text-conversion tools with a simple press of a button. When used with a LightLid 35 adapter (not included), the 3800 can scan 35mm slides and filmstrips.
