Summary: Easy to use and works with XP!
Review: I was worried after reading some of the reviews that this scanner would have conflicts with Windows XP but it seems to work perfectly fine! I haven't had any problems with it and I love the copy/print option that makes it just like a copier! It's easy to use and with a touch of a button, it scans quickly and quietly. I tried OCR with this once and it didn't seem to work well but that's the only thing I see wrong with it thus far. I've only had it for a month so I can't comment on how well it works long term but for now, it's a keeper!

Summary: Good Scanner, Good Software, 1 Flaw
Review: This is my fourth scanner, and it's a nice one. The scans are fairly quick. Buttons are configurable to how you need to use them (scan, fax, email, OCR, scan-to-printer, etc.) If you do have problems with file size, like other reviews have said, its not because of the scanner or software, but just needs understanding how scanning resolutions, picture size, and image formats are related. That goes for any scanner. Unit works fine with XP. Mine came with Paperport 7.0. Paperport is a good document handling program, allows you to 'stack' pages into a single document, add "sticky notes", text and more. It has a great photo editing feature to alter colors, brightness and contrast, and see 9 previews of varying shades to make your selection, and then repeat the process again if needed. It includes B/W & color printer drivers, where you can print from any other application and it is captured into a Paperport image. But 7.0's printer drivers don't work in XP (I don't know about Win 2000) and it's documented on their website (you might want to check if that's changed). Version 8.0 does work properly, but you have to buy it and it ain't cheap. The OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is very good, since Visioneer uses (owns?) Scansoft who owns Textbridge OCR program, generally recognized as the best over the years. One of the nicest OCR features, is you can select a block of text in a document image, right-click it, then "copy-to-text" and paste it into your word processer (or anything that accepts text). However, while I think the scanner's regular street price is OK, a big discount makes it well worth the price and a one of the best scanner deals around in my opinion.

Summary: Excellent quality photo scanning!
Review: This machine works smoothly & scans are top drawer quality. That said, the instructions & software are apparently written by gurus for other gurus. This first time scanner user is still pecking & swearing after 4 months. Tech support is no help as to why Email won't send.

Summary: A Great Find, Makes Up For the 3 Years I Wasted on HP
Review: This scanner was a wonderful surprise in a market swimming with inferior machines that leave you with ugly scans and a lot of headaches.

I use this to take close-up photos of jewelry for eBay auctions, so the photos need to be clear and the color true or people will bite your head off :o). I will admit that the reason I went for this one was because of the price (and the fact that it wasn't made by HP). I was spending double on Hewlitt Packard scanners and, one year later on the nose everytime, each one of them broke. Their customer service was as lousy as their products.

You do need to be just a little scanner savvy in the beginning to get the configurations right for whatever you're scanning, but once you get the hang of it your images come out beautiful (the color is brilliant). I have Millenium, and had no problem setting everything up.

Summary: Great Scanner.
Review: Very nice printer for the price! I've been steady using it to archive all my old photos.
