Summary: Piece of [junk]
Review: Apparently there is no bottom for HP poor quality.
No wonder Fiorina is so big fan of outsourcing.
Anyway, I bought my OfficeJet 7110 from Costco. Excellent price and good looking printer. Saved a lot of spave on my desk.
The printer didn't work. I've got "Carriage Error" no matter what I did. ...

Summary: Excellent All Rounder
Review: Get it out the box follow a few simple instructions and you have a full suite of office machines up and running in minutes and in one unit. Print quality is every bit as good as photo printing machines and pretty fast. Scan and copy images are very sharp, the scan runs with the supplied software, Windows XP and my MGI photosuite without a hitch. The fax capability is excellent with a 100 page memory and the capability to work from the PC, Flatbed or Sheetfeed as you wish. I particularly like the stand alone capability for faxing and the Flatbed being big enough to handle legal size documents.

My only argument with the maufacturers claims is with the word compact package. While certainly smaller than the components parts represented by individual machines this is a big and heavy all in one machine. Having said that it feels far more solid and durable than many competing units, in the long run that should be a plus if you are buying the unit for a business.

Several reviewers have complained about shake and noise from the 7110, I have not experienced this at all, maybe the stability of the platform it is placed on affects vibration and noise.

All in all I could not be happier with my 7110, if you have a small business it is a great buy.

Summary: Don't buy it if you have more sophisticated graphics needs
Review: Here's what's good about this machine: easy to set up, legal-sized flatbed scanner, nice LCD display, great fax operation.

Here's what's not so good: not actually that fast, verrrrry noisy and can shake your entire desk, and, most importantly, the scanner is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ADOBE PHOTOSHOP. If you use this program, this scanner is completely useless. I wish I'd known that before I bought it and set it up. Luckily, the store I bought it from had a 14 day return policy. I am now happily using a Canon Multipass MP730 (same price) with much better results, including much better printing quality.

Summary: Very impressive
Review: I got this all-in-one more for its text printing, scanning, copying and faxing capabilities. So I really did not expect that much from its photo printing capabilities. (I don't even have a digital camera.) I must say that after dabbling in some photo printing from some pictures I scanned and from some picture files I have been emailed I am very impressed. The pictures are very life-like and vivid. The text printing even at draft mode is very acceptable. The unit is very easy to set up as well. The automatic document feeder is a great convenience. All-in-all, this all-in-one has been terrific.

I have only had it for a few days so I cannot give it a 5 star rating yet. So far my only criticism of it is that it is rather noisy and busy doing stuff even while it is not in use.

Summary: Horrible software/printer
Review: I have had so many problems with this piece of garbage. After much effort, I finally got the printer working with the 3 computers in my home (2 PC, 1 Mac). I had to change the password on my network, so I updated all the machines, including the printer. Now the Mac works, but I have not been able to get the Windows machines to recognize the printer. A couple months later, my Mac can't find the printer either! Nothing has changed on my network in these last couple months. And I don't have time to spend another 6 hours trying to debug this thing again.

It appears that HP has seriously lost their mojo in printers, which used to be their strong suit. This printer is the biggest piece of junk since the last HP printer I returned.

Never again, HP. Thanks for nothing...

Summary: This machine is horrible!!!
Review: I have never had a problem with any HP products in the past but to my surprise this machine is the worst printer/fax machine I have ever had.

I can never get the automatic document feeder to just take one page. It always wants to pull in at least two to three pages. I have cleaned it, blew air into it, and even replaced the feeder per HP suggestion and still doesn't work.

To make matter worse, even if I do get the machine to take one page at a time, it will not send all the pages for a fax. It always seems to leave off one of the middle pages. This is really puzzling because all the pages scanned.

Now the clencher on this is that everytime I call to try to get some support help I talk to someone in India whom I barely understand and I don't feel like they understand or appreciate my problem. (I do not believe in outsourcing American jobs by the way.)

After talking to some of our clients, they have mentioned that they too are also having problems with this model. As of now, I am requesting my money back. I'll wait and see what happens....

Summary: Problems From Beginning Seem to be Fixed
Review: I have never spent so much time with reps (In India no less) in trying to figure out problems. They sent me black & white new cartridge..that didn't help (I had brownish red print all the time.) Then another rep said it was the color cartridge an sent me one of those, THAT didn't work. Finally they sent me a new machine, sans the top which they said to keep and install on the new "bottom." Then, although all copies went through & the confirmation said they all went, the receivers kept telling me that they didn't get all copies. HP then sent me a new top, so virtually, my entire machine (except prints heads) were replaced. Now all seems to be OK. Good point - You can print on "fast" although the colors are faded when you use these method of copying. Reps were very nice but spent much too much valuable time on the phone with them.

Summary: Best Multifunction Around!
Review: I must say I agree with some people about this machine, it does have some issues like the size is big and it does shake some while printing but for the most part this is the best machine I have ever owned. Reguardless of what was said previous it does work in Adobe PhotoShop CS which I use. When you load the drivers it installs a twain driver which does come up in PhotoShop. The color is the best I have seen and very crisp and clean. When you open the cover you can tell this is built much more solidly than almost any office machine available. The cartridges are faily inexpensive for ink jets. You can print on many different paper sizes another critizism is the tricolor cartridge. It would be much better with separate cartridges also you have to be careful about the color cartridge, when you print in greyscale it still uses color ink so it can go fast if you are not careful. I wish HP would only use black ink in greyscale but thats where alot of their money comes from I am sure. When you consider the faxing, scanning, quality printing, and copying all from your home office this printer is top notch.

Summary: Worst All-In-One Ever
Review: I purchased this machine in August along with an overnight replacement warranty (thank goodness). Since August I have had 3 different machines. Each one malfunctioned. (1) The automatic feeder did not work properly and the paper jammed. HP replaced the machine. (2) The print head connection was not making contact and the machine would not detect the print cartridges. HP replaced that machine. (3) It would only print in red and blue because the print cartridges were improperly distribting the ink. In addition, each time I replaced the machine I had to uninstall and reinstall the software, which should not have been necessary. Not to mention the hours spent on the phone with HP service and my IT person trying to get the machines to function properly. In one week I had two replacements. It is also noisy and slow. I begged my salesperson to take it back, which he did and I was happy to see it go.
