Summary: I'll never buy Epson again.
Review: Well I bought this printer (CX5400) about 11 months ago and up to this point have been pretty happy with it. The software is easy to use, it prints well, and is pretty sturdy. The only thing I didn't like about it is that it drinks ink. I just bought replacement cartridges for the black ink and none of them work, not a single one out of the six. Why you might ask? The same problem that others have noted here, clogged ink heads. The cleaner for it costs around $50 so I guess I'm going to just buy a new printer instead. I'm completely shocked that this has happened and Epson's support has been no help.

Summary: Did NOT come with ink cartridges !!!
Review: Well it scans nicely.... this function requires NO ink. I dont know how it prints yet until I go buy ink. I am so dissapointed. I just now pulled the machine out of the "sealed" box and I noticed that the cord is already plugged into the back of the printer... which I thought seemed odd and there are NO ink cartridges... this printer, in my opinion, is obviously a sales "return" from a customer. I should have paid a few dollars more and bought at my local store --- this way I could have marched back there and got my ink or a new printer all together. Of course i could just pack this large box up and pay for shipping to send it back. It will be cheaper for me to just buy the ink. I will never buy anything online this large again. I did not get a fair deal. and like i said, i dont believe my printer is brand new. box was not sealed properly, and other clues too. Oh well, I made many purchases online thru the holidays and this was my only misshap. Nothing against Amazon.... the product actually came from J and R electronics.
I called J and R on the phone.... what can they do ? NOTHING.
thanks alot.march 2004... i am using the printer and it is very nice and the scanner software is one of the best i have used. (used for scrap booking ) great printer.... however i would buy from a reputable dealer and preferably one you can drive to rather than ship it back if you werent satisfied.
