Summary: No grayscale printing - why? why? why?
Review: Pros: very good color printing, seems better than my Canon i320.Cons: no grayscale support by the driver. This is inexcusable to me. Don't say that you get what you pay for. Even the cheapest of cheap printers can do this. There is a work around (remove the color cartridge), but that's lame. Also, everytime I remove its system tray program, I get a GPF-type error. If grayscale printing were supported, it would be a 4-star.

Summary: Works Like A Dream!
Review: I decided to buy this all-in-one after reading the customer reviews. It is better than I expected. I used the poster to install it on my new Dell 4600 computer, and it took just a few minutes to have it up and running. I mainly use it to print out lesson plans from a word processing program, but I have also scanned documents into my word processing program, and it does that flawlessly. I like that scanned documents can be saved as PDF files. I've printed out photos and artwork, and the quality is excellent. I have found the software easy to use. No USB cable is provided, but you get full ink cartridges. I plan to buy a second one for my classroom. I think that this is an amazing machine for a very low price.

Summary: A Great Printer but a Lousy All-in-One
Review: One of very few printers under $100 that has 4800 by 1200 dpi resolution. Prints photos very well. However, the scanner is virtually useless. The bundled scanning software is crude and freezes very easily, forcing you to reboot your computer. However one plus is that the price of catridges for this printer is almost half that of others from Lexmark, etc. Buy this device for its good print resolution, low price and stand alone copier capability. Don't buy this device expecting a seamlessly integrated all-in-one device.

Summary: PERFECT for the college student on a budget!
Review: I was recommended this buy my friend (who happens to work for Staples and owns one of these as well) and seeing that I could get a scanner, printer, and the awesome copy feature for [a little money] I couldn't pass it up. This is PERFECT for a college student with little cash (like me!). Uses the same cartridges that some of the higher end models do and matches their quality pretty close as well. I've scanned images and have posted them on the web, they are excellent quality. I've printed and its fast and great quality. You could look at it this way, you are buying a great printer (probably even saving a little money), getting a scanner for for free, and they are completely integrated saving space and allowing for instant copies (it isn't software that allows the copies, you can do it without a PC). Only cons are that the scanner is a little on the noisy side and as a business student I wish it had built in fax feature (but my laptop has fax software so no biggie). It also has some cool features, one I found is that it can scan a document and save it as a .PDF which is great for me since I am a musician and want a way to have professional looking lyrics on my website. I definitely recommend this, especially with a price tag that won't melt your credit cards and burn a hole in your wallet.

Summary: Works great with the iMac!
Review: After installing the software it works great with the iMac. However, be advised that you are getting what you pay for here. It's a great price for a all-in-one printer, but the scanner resolution is only fair. But, you can't beat the price for a quality product like this from HP. As long as you don't need to scan or print photographs in high resolution, this is a great way to go. Don't get me wrong here though, it's good enough for the casual user, it's just not professional grade - but for [the price]there is no better deal around that I was able to find, especially for the iMac!

Summary: Great Printer - Great Value!
Review: I just got the psc-1210 which I bought from amazon.com. I read the other reviews one in particular which worried me about not being able to print in grayscale. I talked to HP support and they said all you have to do is remove the color cartriage. That worked fine for me. Setup is simple, but like others mentioned, the software leaves something to be desired in some ways, but in my opinion is exceptional in others. What you get for the price is worth it, especially if you want to scan and copy.

Summary: i am THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED with the hp 1210
Review: first off, the size of this all-in-one grabs you. its about the size of most normal inkjet printers, and its a rectangular design that is very tidy and compact. i narrowed my choice for the all-in-one to the hp1210 and the epson cx3200. i copied/printed with both of them in the store, and the hp was more accurate and truer to the image of my drivers license, which is what i made a copy of. you have to buy your own usb cable though. ive used the copy, scan, and print features all with flawless execution. i scanned a pic with the hp software, then printed it out, and i was VERY impressed with the results. the paper is front loading also, which is what i prefer. the layout of the buttons is simple and streamlined. theyre all clearly labeled and designed perfectly. the top flips up to reveal the glass surface on which your scanned images will go and where the document youre copying from goes. its awesome! if there is one minor drawback, its the software. while it is practically a complete suite of programs, its almost TOO much and is more cumbersome than it should be. in my opinion, peripheral software should be super easy to use, and you should be able to get in, get what you need from it, and get out as fast as possible. overall, however, the 1210 is GREAT. im very happy with this purchase!

Summary: overall a fantastic package
Review: Overall this HP multifunction is a fantastic deal. Most regular printers will cost this much, and half of them won't do as good a job. Pros:
-EXCELLENT photo printing on photo paper - looks like a professional print, and no need for a different photo cartridge.
-Easy copying - one button, very fast
-Fast text printing
-Quick hi-res scans
-Fairly efficient with ink usage. Cons:
-I found the HP scanning software to be a little slow and clunky
-Doesn't allow you to reverse-print documents, so you have to reshuffle them
-Photo printing a little bit slow, though that depends on the size None of the cons were deal-breakers for me. For a hundred bucks, you get the same resolution as HP's dedicated photo printers, plus a nice scanner and copier. Also, I like the fact that my desk doesn't look like it has a Xerox machine sitting on it - the PSC 1210 is much smaller and "hipper" looking than a lot of huge multi-function machines. I would definitely recommend!

Summary: Has problems
Review: While it works great as a scanner/copier, the weakest part of HP PSC 1210 is the printer. I get paper jams almost everyday (I had another HP printer and it didn't have this problem). Another annoyance factor is the scanner software. In my opinion, the scanner software is downright stupid. Unlike other scanner programs in preview mode, when you preview and zoom in to crop, you have to rescan the document. Wouldn't it have been easier AND faster for the program to just zoom in on the image itself? Well, all I can say now is I got what I paid for. I think it would have been better if I bought the scanner/copier separately and paid more to get a better printer.

Summary: avoid avoid avoid
Review: First of all, HP had to ship me a replacement when my first printer didn't work. Turns out, it wasn't working because the printer won't work unless you stick the faceplate label on the printer...yes, you read this right...you have to stick the label which has a code attached to the underside or the printer won't work. This is not a great idea if you're trying to make sure the printer works or if you are just trying it out. You certainly don't want to attach a permanent label if you need to return it. Oh well. Anyway, while this printer may make nice b&w copies and printouts, I'll never know how good it is at anything else because that is all I was able to get to work. HP forces you to install a bunch of software that you don't necessarily need or want. You aren't given the option of picking or choosing. And you can't uninstall them without uninstalling the drivers. It also forces you to run their software at startup and it sits in your systray the entire time. All this for a printer? You've got to be kidding. And I was never able to get it to scan anything. I had read a few reviews saying that the HP software was pretty bad. Now I'm a believer. I'm going back to Canon. One person complained that Canon support is not toll-free. Well, be forewarned, neither is HP.
