Summary: An excellent machine for a low price!
Review: ... After having a fitful night's sleep due to the incessant whining of my little girl dog, I was quite exhausted when I purchased this. However, I had a friend in need who requested a scan. So, I hooked it up to my P2 Celeron computer with Windows xp Home on it. I followed the instructions on the installation poster exactly and had absolutely NO PROBLEMS with it. Even while completely exhausted and somewhat flaky. It works just fine and I look forward to getting the optional photo cartridge to give that a try as I do a lot of digital photography. I don't know why others have had problems with their machines. Maybe their paper jams were due to humidity levels or maybe their paper was old or not fanned out prior to inserting into the printer. Maybe their fax printing was just a glitch. Regardless, at this date I have performed all Microsoft Windows xp home updates and have had no issues with this printer at all. I absolutely love it. ...

Summary: A machine that does it all except the laundry!
Review: Okay. I am not one to give 5 stars to everything. I am usually very critical, but after reading the reviews of others, and knowing my personal experience I have to say they must have got stuck with a dud. And, since it's always important to download the latest drivers regardless of whether or not it came with a disk is my motto. Also, I noticed the complaints coming from Windows XP users. I say, that's the problem. Windows XP is the WORSE operating system created to date, and it is what drove me away from Microsoft. The last straw so to speak.

I have successfully faxed, scanned, copied, colored copies, and printed on this machine without a hitch. I was initially concerned about the ink, since the cartridges seemed rather small compared to my late HP Deskjet 832, but I have printed 100s of pages without changing them, or losing print quality. Also, the software comes with a nice gage to let you know where you are with your ink.

I've printed photo quality pictures with this, and I understand that there is even a special photo cartridge which I will soon be purchasing. This is a money saving alternative for small business owners or home users who don't or can't spend thousands of dollars on a color laser printer, xerox machine, fax machine, and scanner. I also can't stress enough how much SPACE it saves. Although tall, they managed to keep the width and depth small enough so that it still rests perfectly on that ledge that some desks come with (such as mine).

I've made 50 copies of a sheet filled with data using the normal setting, and clocked it at about 3 1/2 minutes. I've stood in front of a xerox machine longer. I don't understand why people have problems with the fax machine, either. When you do the initial setup it asks about your phone line, and you can adjust the settings to know whether it's a fax or a voice call. I've had no problems with the machine deciphering between the two.

The only thing that I haven't tested or are sure about is networking. I am wirelessly linked, and my router has no USB adaptors. Since it's outdated anyway, I think I will upgrade my router for one of the extreme models, that come USB ready, and try it out. I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem.

I am using Macintosh OS X Jaguar, and my husband uses Windows XP. He can use the machine, but setting up the drivers initially were a hassle.

Summary: difficult and cumbersome printer
Review: timely and difficult to setup.
automatic document feeder does not catch very well. have to give it a few tries.
fax auto answer does not work all the time. many times fax went on when it was a voice call.
still haven't got print and scan to work even though usb cable works fine. called hp, said maybe software version (recvd 2.0). they are sending v. 2.02. I have windows xp home version.
Overall, would not recommend purchasing this product unless you fully test it and definitely would not recommend buying over the internet as very difficult to unpack and repack.
features look nice when reading description but does not work as written.

Summary: Great Idea...still a few bugs?
Review: My main reason for purchasing the 6110 was to replace an old Brother-560 fax machine. At the retail outlet I realized I could upgrade my printer (and what an upgrade the 6110 printer is!), and replace my scanner at the same time. First lets get all the great things out of the way. It scans, prints, and copies better than I have EVER seen before. My problems are with the FAX RECEIVE. ALL faxes that I receive are cut-off on the right side. A perfect 1/4 inch margin shift to the right on ALL faxes that come in. I have returned the unit and am on my 3rd one with the same problems. So far HP tech support has no answers. This unfortunately may be my reason for going to another manufacturer.

Summary: Printer Function has Problems
Review: When printing from the internet, the printer will jam. Also the printer will restart the computer on it's own. The fax and copy parts work great. I am using windows XP

Summary: Could easily become a five star
Review: This machine has everything I was looking for: multifunction, automatic document feeder, envelope slot, ability to copy legal size (through the ADF only, flatbed is only up to letter size) and reasonably priced compared to competitors' models. I'd suggest that HP put a backlight on the display, make the fax setup instructions a little more user friendly and change to separate ink tanks from the 3 color cartridge.
I've only had it only 1 week, so I can't comment on how long the ink will last. So far I have faxed, copied, scanned and printed photos as well as text. All is great.

Summary: I love this machine
Review: The 6110 seems to offer the best of several worlds. It is a flatbed scanner/copier AND has a sheet-fed attachment that allows you to scan or fax up to 35 copies at a time. This product is much better than I anticipated. The included software has worked flawlessly for me (surprise, because I use a Mac running OS X), automatically inserting scanned items in to the program of my choice, and giving the user several helpful options for copying and faxing. It copies and faxes without requiring the computer, in color as well as B/W. It's quiet, a pleasant surprise, after reading about some other HP all-in-ones. It has been sold in Europe for a while, but only recently arrived in the states. Printing resolution is equal or superior to the HP 970 series printer that I previously owned.

Cons - The 6110 does not have slots to read memory sticks and other similar photo image storage devices. If that's a need, consider some of HP's other products, like the D series, or the 2110. You'll pay at least $...more for the photo slots plus the sheet feeder on a flat-bed. I didn't need them, preferring to download photos through USB.

And one final bonus, for me at least. The duplexer that came with my previous 970 is the same one that fits the 6110. So now I have two-sided printing (big paper saver) AND didn't have to shell out $... more for it.

Really happy with this purchase.

Summary: Poor Quality Design and Customer Support
Review: I have owned the HP 6110 All-In-One for over a year now and have experienced numerous problems with the product. First the machine has a propensity to "disconnect" from the PC for no reason, forcing a reboot of the PC to reconnect. The HP "Customer Service" people and I use that term loosely indicated that they had never had anyone report this problem. I told the Customer Service Manager that this was an obvious software issue, which he denied was the case. Yet, a few months later there was a software patch on their website to fix this problem. (The patch cut the frequency of this problem somewhat, but did not fix the problem.) Second, the paper handler picks up two pieces of paper frequently when performing double sided printing (which was the primary reason I bought the product in the first place), resulting in pages for a two sided document. Third, the ink cartridges are of small capacity and have to refilled or changed often, which is expensive. The scan and copy functions work satisfactorily, but the printer function is of very poor reliability.

Summary: weak
Review: Had this machine for 6 months and hate it. Loud and annoying. Very buggy and difficult overall to manage Waste of money. Next time I'll read these reviews.
