Summary: Leader in its class
Review: I've been using the CS 310 since July 2002 and the experience has been positive. First off, it's totally inadequate as either a digital camera or a "video cam." The resolution is just not very high, and in video mode you can shoot for something like 15 seconds. The CS 310 is a webcam, and should be used as such.

As a webcam it's better than other products in its class. It offers good light sensitivity, which means it'll give you decent (even though grainy) picture quality even in a dimly lit room. The framerate is very good, unlike most other webcams in this price range. Best of all, it's auto focus and auto exposure, so you don't have to mess around with a focus ring each time you use it.

The software driver installed easily on my Windows 2000 PC. It comes with a webcam application that allows you to capture videos and still images to your PC as well as host a webcam site (for a fee). It's easy to use, but I bought the 310 to use with NetMeeting, which is a totally no-hassle operation. If you have Windows XP, you can use the 310 well with Windows Messenger and video-chat with your friends.

In short, I've been satisfied with the performance of this economic yet solid webcam, and I recommend it to you.

Summary: cheap option for neophytes
Review: let's face it, you're not going to get a lot of camera for the money involved, but what you do get is a passable webcam which doubles as a very low-end stand alone digital camera which can be used for happy snaps in good outdoor conditions

my 9 y.o. daughter likes it, and i like the idea of giving her the chance to fire off pics indisciminately for the cost of 4 aaa batteries - a much superior option to film and processing costs for a beginner to experiment, and faster opportunity to view the images they create and encourage consideration of what does and what doesn't work technically and artistically

if you want a real digital camera then go and buy one, but you won't get it for this price; as a cheap beginner's equivalent to a very basic instamatic (with webcam capabilities as an added bonus), this is definitely worth consideration

Summary: Bad machine
Review: My machine did not work. The video was black and the pictures were pixelated. I'm trying to get a refund ASAP.

Summary: Logitech was surely a way to Clicksmart!!
Review: Pros: Quality web cam, smooth installation, software, basic off-line cam, Easy Installation. Lot of Photo Storage, Ease of use, Cheap, Makes a decent PC camera, Great webcam, lightweight.

Cons: Poor quality offline pics, drains batteries almost instantly, Indoor Photos Usually Blurred, Picture quality is unreliable for realistic photos, Added light needed for decent photos, Digital pictures are a bit out of focus, automatically shuts off after 30 seconds non-use.

Summary: The camera is very small and lightweight, made from a strong plastic, I admit my daughter dropped it and it was not damaged at all. I had heard nightmares about the installation process. For me, I put in the disk, it loaded perfectly and never proved to be a challenge at all. Installation took less than 5 minutes and worked fine the first time. I went through the software quickly and the program that runs the webcam/digital photo album/live video e-cards is easy to use - if you can read, you can use the program without any difficulty.
The live video feed and taping come through virtually crystal clear. For the "Creating Videos" you have three pixel size options - 160x120, 320x240, 640x480. It is as easy as setting the camera in so that your subject is in the viewer and pushing a button on the computer to tape. For Digital Pictures - you can unplug the camera and take it with you. High Resolution (352x288 pixels) allows you to take 40 pictures, Low resolution (176x144) allows 160 photos or 15 seconds of video. A timer option allows you to be in the photo as well. In Digital Camera mode you can take photos, Video or Multisnap (allows 5 photos at 1 second intervals)This camera runs on 4 aaa batteries that are not included.

The Bottom Line
This makes a better webcam than digital camera, but for those on a limited budget, it is by far better than not having a digital camera at all!

Summary: Poor picture quality
Review: The picture quality of this webcam is best described as one you might expect from a low-end webcam you bought 2-3 years ago! Very disappointing and the extra features as a digital camera/video clip camera are only frills to hide this fact. With picture quality so bad, none of the extra features matter anyway.

I absolutely would recommend buyers to look at other alternatives. If you receive this as a gift, see if you can return it to the store!!

Summary: Great Internet camera
Review: This camera has served me well as a web camera for international calls through the internet. I paid 20$ for it at the time, had no problems with it, but never tried to use it as a digital camera.

Summary: Play digital camera or decent web cam
Review: This camera is about as simple as they get. I gave this camera to my daughter who is 9 and she loves it. She has it hooked up to her E-machines Celeron Win Xp system and uses it as a web cam for yahoo IM. As a webcam it gives good images and works well (better than quickcam express USB). As a digital camera it can take 40 352 x 144 pixel photos or 160 176 x 144 pixel photos. It can also take 15 seconds of video. It runs on 4 AAA batteries as a digital camera or off the USB power as a webcam. The digital camera even has a timer and a multisnap mode that will snap off 5 shots at one second intervals. It provides a counter for the photos and battery status indicator. I would suggest going to Logitech's web site and downloading the most up to date software and installing it rather than starting with the supplied CD. Mine had ver 5.6.3 supplied but version 7 is out now. With the supplied software you can even set up the webcam to be a motion sensor camera and take shots when it senses movement. Overall it is a good cheap webcam with the option to remove it from its cradle and take some low quality snapshots. If purchased on sale with rebate it should be a good deal.

Summary: Cheap but bad quality webcam or camera
Review: This camera is outdated. I got it very cheap with Amazon. Only $12.99. However, you get what you pay for. The picture image and webcam image is unclear and grainy, especially in low light. Color is off and it is impossible to adjust. Since this camera quality is bad but not defective, I have to pay $5 to return it.
