Review: A GREAT SIMPLE TO USE AM/FM RADIO WITH FANTASTIC FULL SOUND. GREAT SELECTIVITY. NO UNNEEDED BELLS AND WHISTLES TO BRING THE PRICE UP. LOOKS GREAT IN THE KITCHEN!

Summary: Big radio sound
Review: I am astonished and pleasantly surprised to find a product which I purchased as a gift for my parents more than 10 years ago is still being sold. This Sony table radio (remember that means it has to be plugged in) is a real winner and its longevity in the marketplace is a testimony to that fact. Even in the age of digital everything, this radio is definitely worth considering. As a fussy listener I can assure you that for a radio of its size the sound quality is outstanding and its attractive appearance will fit into both home and office settings. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: Great Radio-Great Tuner-Great Sound
Review: I bought this radio as a gift for my sister. She mentioned after a recent trip how much she enjoyed listening to classical music on a public radio station on her drive. Sometime later she also mentioned she'd like a radio for her kitchen. This radio fills the bill on both counts. It has connections for an external FM antenna, but with it's strong tuner it's not needed; even for those low powered public radio stations. The slide band tuning is easy and quick to tune and has a solid quality feel. The sound is great. If you're looking for an affordable quality table radio, this is the one.

Review: I bought this radio on the word of "An Electronics Fan From Santa Rosa" (below). I too have poor reception in my home. There are three FM stations that I alternate between, and it's been a nuisance trying to tune between them with the reception so bad here. I either end up receiving two stations simultaneously, or I get lots-a static.
Well, I received this Sony today, and immediately tried it out, and found that it pulls in the stations very well, with no problem at all. It has a decent sound, and I appreciate the retro appearance. A lot of the modern electronics with their ever-glowing digits are unsightly. This radio is very unassuming in appearance, simple to operate, and it has the heavy feel of solid construction, as the cabinet is wood instead of plastic. I'm buying another one for the kitchen.

Summary: radio heaven
Review: I have several radio/casette/cd combo players in my home, but none of them get more than a few stations clearly, so I decided to spring for this retro-looking little radio. Boy, am I pleased! It not only gets more stations than my car radio, but they sound crystal-clear too! I put it in my kitchen and it makes cooking a lot more fun. As far as the look goes: it is retro, but I was a bit shocked at first. It's like something your dad, or you (if you're my age:) used to have in the seventies. I got over the initial shock though: now I think it makes my kitchen seem more cozy and reminds me of my mom's old radio on our kitchen window sill.

Summary: Average at Best
Review: I ordered this radio based on the favorable reviews. Unfortunately, I am not very satisfied with the unit. AM reception as noted, is terrible, but even when you CAN get a station well, the sound is fuzzy and muffled. On FM, the stations are clear, but the sound is....OK. Not really the deal I was looking for, but the cabinet and radio are attractive.

Summary: Great sounding radio!
Review: It is so hard to find a radio today that has the full sound as this radio for the price and the size. Most small radios today just don't have any bass becouse they are trying to sell people on the stereo sound. I would rather have one large full sounding speaker than two small tinee ones. Of course the other option is you could always buy a large boombox where the quality will be spread out over the additional tape deck, cd player, clock...
chances are, the radio will not be the priority. But if you need a great sounding RADIO for your workshop, this is the one.

Review: My Nana & Papa had this radio in their kitchen. I inherited their radio which is now at least 30 years old! It still works and sounds great. My 4 year old son likes to listen to the radio before he goes to sleep at night. The sound quality is excellent. I was so surprised to see that this radio is still being sold! Like my Daddy used to say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"!

Summary: How Much More Boom Could a Boomer Ask For?
Review: This radio is far too cool for it's own good. It looks just like the one your Dad (or your Grandad) had in his office. Simulated Walnut wood cabinet and a matching brown plastic base/stand. BIG dials and a large faceplate that shows the fm/am bandwidths in FULL detail... You won't have any problem locating stations on this puppy! Everything screams retro cool-- except the SONY logo in the speaker's left hand top corner (which doesn't attract from the overall appearance at all).

The only thing that doesn't make this radio a complete retro experience is the BOOMING rich sound-- no "tinny" tones here... Unreal sound for such an inexpensive radio. I put this up against my portable Sony worldwide radio... and this simplified Sony sounded BETTER... Much better... and reception is GREAT!

If you don't need a CD or cassette player or a clock (and be honest, most people don't... I have at least three combo machines of some sort scattered around the house)... This is perfect... and for the older listeners-- a very cool reminder of days gone by.
