Rating: Summary: definitly better than expected Review: After reading the reviews I thought I'd try two of them. One for the basement shop which is a notoriously poor reception area, and one to bring to sites when it's not convenient to lug the big Milwaukee job site radio.
Basement radio gets more stations with less static than the previous three I tried (all considerably more expensive)
The other one has performed equally as well at various locations. I tune mostly to AM stations, but FM seems to work well too. Tucked it away at the jobsite one day, came back next morning and it had paint spatters all over it. I learned a valuble lesson 'never trust painters'. Still works as well as ever though!
Don't get me wrong. It's little, light, all thin plastic and defnitely Not built for a jobsite radio. It can't compare to the Milwaukee, Bosch, or DeWault for durability nor sound quality. But for $10 I can't be more impressed.
Rating: Summary: Good cheap radio Review: For working around the house you can't go wrong with this radio. It's cheap, works decent even if it isn't the greatest sound in the world. I use it on the golf course to listen to baseball and working around the house.

Rating: Summary: Good Value Review: Good reception, good enough sound quality. An excellent buy at the price
Rating: Summary: Great Radio. Review: I bought it for my office at work and it is a prefect little radio great reception, great sound, dual power sources and a headphone jack make this radio a steal for the price.
Rating: Summary: great little radio! Review: I bought this for listening to NPR while working on painting and stenciling projects on our backporch. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it does a good job with music as well as spoken words. I also like the fact that it has a solid, metal antenna instead of one of those thin, whispy wire ones that so interest the feline members of our household (my husband recently bought a clock radio with one of those antennas -- after two days it was summarily detached and removed to the living room for the 2000 Antenna Olympics). Another nice feature is the little compartment in back in which you can store the electrical cord.
Rating: Summary: This Radio Doesn't Get Better with Age!!! Review: I bought this radio in March based on the rave reviews it received. I use it for my cubicle at work, and for four months it worked great! Now it has suddenly turned into a static machine. The radio stations I used to receive with perfect reception are almost impossible to get without static. I haven't made any changes whatsoever; one day it just started to act up and hasn't stopped since. I am very disappointed with a radio that once worked so well.
Rating: Summary: Excellent portable for the money Review: I got one of these a couple of days ago. Excellent reception across both bands, even in weak FM signal areas with the antenna down! The only drawback I could find with this radio is the AC cord compartment is too cramped - you have to play with the cord until you get it in just right. This shouldn't be a problem if you just plan to use it exclusively with either A/C or batteries. But it is a tradeoff. A bigger compartment would result in a bigger cabinet.
Rating: Summary: Great sound for such an inexpensive radio Review: I needed a cheap radio for background music. All I wanted was decent sound and received AM and FM radio. I wasn't interested in playing CDs or MP3s. Since I do a lot of home remodeling projects, it would have to be something small and easily portable that could be knocked over and come back asking for more. This radio by GE delivers on all counts. I live rurally but still close enough to town that I can't comment on long-distance reception. All I can say is that I get all the radio stations that I want to listen to, the quality of the speaker is plenty good enough for my taste and level of loudness in FM music, and I don't get any frequency drift so that I don't have to fiddle with the tuning knob.
Rating: Summary: A Solid Radio, For The Price. Review: I needed a serviceable little radio that would play my favorite FM and AM stations while I work the graveyard shift. While not traditionally a big fan of GE's products, the string of favorable customer reviews sold me on this unit. After two weeks, I can say I am not disappointed. For the price of a couple hamburgers, the radio manages to pull in the stations I like, at least until I get too close to all the old CRTs and their EM radiation, which is probably strong enough to render any reciever useless. At home, the story is different, will bell-clear reception on both bands and decent sound from the 3" speaker. Keep in mind that this thing is exceedingly simple, consisting of the power supply (AA batteries or built-in transformer--no bulky adaptor,) tuner, speaker, stereo headphone jack, and power/volume dial. That's it. And for a lot of people, that's good enough. Oh, and the case is nearly bulletproof. After an additional month of operation at high volume, on the original batteries, this thing is still rocking. That's like almost 40 hours, by my estimate. This radio's the mack. Unless you get real lucky at a yard sale, this is the best $10-$15 radio out there.
