Sangean DT-110 Digital Pocket AM/FM Stereo Receiver

Review: I have bought many small radios over the years, including others by Sangean. I was very disappointed with this one. It looks cheap, feels cheap, and has mediocre sound. For the price, I was expecting better. I know I could have bought a much nicer radio for less money.

Review: I have used this radio for the better part of a year now. It has performed flawlessly in an area where a variety of Sony and other radios just didn't cut it. I use it primarily as a "working around the yard" radio, in proximity to a variety of noisy 2 and 4 cycle engines and electric power tools. Other radios had trouble with interference, weak signal, fading and distortion. In contrast, this little instrument works as well as the living room receiver. I recommend it unconditionally.

Things to be aware of:

1. Your only warning of a weak battery is that it will cut off for no apparent reason. You can start it up again, but it will cut off soon again. It's no big deal, I just change the batteries.

2. The FM antenna is the earphone cord. I have tried a variety of ear buds successfully, but I see from other reviews that not all earphones work.

These are simple observations, not what I consider to be "cons". This is a great radio and I'm glad to have it.

Review: I purchased this to replace a Toshiba AM FM stereo micro radio that was credit card sized and fit my shirt pocket while I walked or jogged for many years. The mini stereo jack finally broke and put it out of commission. Since none of the other Japanese firms produce such products anymore, I started hunting around in Amazon and other web retailers.
I chose this unit based on price and on other reviews by other buyers. Although it is no where near as small as the Toshiba was (which was exactly the same size as a 6 credit cards in a stack) this unit performs the same while adding digital and memory tuning. It is very sensitive in both the FM and AM bands and provides very good sound using any decent stereo headphone. I use 2 pairs of Sony headphones fit in my ears so that they do not fall or move about while I jog at White Plains, NY HS track. The ear bud headphones supplied by Sangean sound great but would fall out while I ran.

Review: I thought this would be an excellent radio because of the price
and other reviews, but it turned out to be horrible. It makes a terrible hissing noise that never goes away when it is on. Even when the volume is turned all the way down it still makes the sound.

Especially with its features and small size. Perfect for the commute. Given the current drop in prices for electronics generally, I would say you can get a better deal than this on a different brand.

Summary: Fine Performance and Smooth Styling
Review: The DT-110 provides excellent sound in a compact radio. I need something for the gym and the DT-110 provides easy tuning and a ggod bass emphasis. The range could be better. When I go to the far corner of the work-out room, even local stations are plagued by static. Also, the earphones are not well-designed. The cord is too short, and the ear buds tend to come loose and fall out during vigorous exercise. The automatic tuning is easy to set and to change stations. The styling is minimalist and has drawn compliments.

Summary: Where's the belt clip?
Review: The overall design, reception, and light weight of the Sangean DT-110 are excellent. However, I was a bit suprised to find that it did not come with a belt clip or arm band! I purchased this for use in the gym, and now I am trying to figure out how I am going to attach this thing to my body other than holding it in my hand! Since the product description contains no information regarding this potential problem, I thought someone should mention it.
