Rating: Summary: My savior in high EMI environment Review: I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to get decent FM radio reception in the middle of an office building with significant EMI (Electromagnetic Interference). I tried three radios, including the Radio Shack (RS) Portable AM/FM Radio with Extended AM Range, Cat# 12-903, which is modeled after the GE Superadio. (The Superadio and the RS 12-603/12-903 are often compared out on various pages on the internet and have the exact same features.) My goal was to receive my favorite FM station, which is a weaker station sandwiched between two strong stations. The Superadio, with the help of a C. Crane FM Reflect antenna found at ..was the only radio/antenna combo that would bring it in for me. (I also tried 3 other antennas, including 2 amplified antennas) Another nice item is that I get excellent FM reception on almost every channel now. The ability to turn off the Auto Frequency Control seems to make all the difference for my needs. The RS 12-903 had the same switch, but I didn't notice a significant difference when I turned it on or off, like I do with the Superadio. The only thing the RS 12-903 had going for it was it's sturdier case, but it was more, even on sale. I haven't done much with AM, so I can't comment on that. I hope this is helpful.
Rating: Summary: Like They Use to Make 'em! Review: This radio is exactly what I was looking for. An old-school, hardcore bruiser of a radio. Nothing fancy, just a few dials and a lot of power. It's appliances like this that made America great!
Rating: Summary: Its not very durable, but it does pick up weak stations. Review: My 1st one didn't last much over a year before it stopped working. Perhaps exposing it to the temperature extremes next to a leaky Northwest facing window (in Iowa) contributed to its early death. Since it is the least expensive amplified AM radio out there, and because it does pick up weak AM stations, I'll be buying another one. Hopefully it will last longer.
Rating: Summary: GE SRIII: a modern and affordable high performance classic Review: Well, who would have thought that the best radio value in the world would be an AM/FM analog design stemming from the 70's! Just as unexpected is that the SRIII is a truly international product brought to us by a French company (Thomson); producing an American Brand (GE); manufactured by the largest producer of radios today, Red China (thanks RMN). ;-)I'm here to tell you that this radio is great! At work I can pull in distant AM and FM stations that other radios in the building can't even raise. The AM band filter on the "normal setting" reduces the hum from my nearby computer and the defeatable "AFC" on FM allows distant stations to peacefully coexist with local FM station powerhouses. The battery life is very very long and the sensitivity and selectivity is as good as the ...Sangean CC Radio (which I own) on AM and superior on FM. The SRIII sound quality is very good and the old retro style gives people an excuse to laugh and call you an old fogy. :-) What's the downside? Well, aesthetics; the case is made of cheap plastic (and it looks it), the analog dial is slow to tune and not as accurate in calibration as a digital dial and there is a pop from the speaker when the radio is turned on. Long time SRIII owners have told me this pop is normal and is not a worry. In my mind these shortcomings do not compromise the muscular performance which underlies the SRIII's unpretentious exterior. I just bought my second SRIII from amazon and I plan to keep it in reserve or use it as a future present. At these low prices a radio with this kind of first class performance is simply unrivaled in the world of electronics. Do not hesitate to buy the GE SRIII if you like listening to good radio.
Rating: Summary: GE SUPERADIO....IS SUPER! Review: The ONLY thing wrong w/ this radio is that it is not a stereo system. PERFECT for Factory use! Love it!
Rating: Summary: GE Super Radio III Review: This radio is great! It does everything it was advertised to do. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the digital radio, but if you are having problems pulling in long range AM stations, this radio is the one. I took it with me on vacation. Even the FM stations comes in every clear and the sound is fantastic. I plan to buy another one and give as a gift this Christmas. This radio is excellent for this price. Do not be afraid to purchase this radio.
Rating: Summary: GE Superadio III vs. Radio Shack 12-903 Review: I have never been as satisfied with a purchase as I have been with the Superadio III. It is a sucessor to the SR-II, and is even more sensitive than its predecessor. I have done a comparative review between this model and its supposed clone at, and found that the SR-III is clearly a different, and far superior product. The 12-903 is a new model from RS that merely repackages the previous design. So if you want a quality radio with extremely good AM reception on distant stations, the SR-III is the product for you. The SR-III also has a wide bandwidth position that allows high fidelity listening on local stations. Those customers considering the C-Crane unit should be aware that C-Crane equalizes its audio for speech, making music listening poor. FM reception of the SR-III is good as well, stations up to 100 miles away are receivable under some conditions. The only negative points that I can find with the SR-III are the lack of a ten kHz audio filter and the lack of an AM stereo (as well as FM stereo) decoder, that would allow stereo listening through headphones.
Rating: Summary: SUPERADIO SKIDS DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND STILL PLAYS Review: My name is Robin Clayton, WLRC Gospel Radio, AM 850,Walnut Mississippi. I was driving the WLRC Remote jeep From Blue Mountain Mississippi up Hwy 15 when My GE III Fell Out the Jeep window sliding on the road while I drove 45 Miles per Hour. I Got to the Superadio before A semi ran over it. The Knobs were scratched as well as the grill. The batteries got crushed on the highway, but I bought some new ones, Hit the silver "ON" knob and The Superadio played perfectly and still does years later. My church wants to give the GE III to shut ins who cant get to church so they can hear WLRC's radio Pastors. Amazon has the best price on The G E Superadio That I've seen anywhere!

Rating: Summary: I like it! Review: These days it makes sense to do some research when trying to get the most out of our purchasing dollar. right? I've received really good information from Amazon.com raters/reviewers for many purchases. I became interested in the GE Superadio III for it's simplicity and price. I needed (wanted!)a good simple portable radio for catching ballgames and working out in the garage or yard. The Superadio seemed to fit the bill. Noticing dozens of reviews posted for this radio i did what i usually do. skim the five stars reviews and read what the others had to say. In reading the reviews posted by those purchasers that were less than satisfied with this radio, i found the following: "bare bones" "no lighted dial" "no push buttons" "worried about battery drain with such a large speaker" "not stereo sound" "not as precise as high quality digital tuner" "no station presets" "no light to see dial in the dark" "this item made in china / why not in the USA?" HELLOOOO!!!! Come on folks!! This is a simple radio. made in china (like most things). It is NOT a superdupper, lighted dial, push button station preset, twin stereo speakered, highly tuned, high quality digital tuner equipped, able to leap through earths athmosphere on a single battery, radio!! I would like for reviewers to tell me about the radio they have. Not the one they wish they could have bought. One reviewer down rated the radio and then added that he had bought another one!! Ok 'nuff said. Now, for my review!! Super quick Amazon.com delivery. Four days earlier than expected (free shipping at that!) Properly packaged, even with air pillows! Plugged that baby in and WOW!! Very impressed...nice crisp sound (no humming) and very strong radio signals from am and fm. I like the simplicity of the design and the no nonsense features. Slapped six "d" cells in and pulled the plug. No difference. Still crisp and clean signals. For the money, I think you can't go wrong. Just one other thing...i bought a chevy chevette once and wondered why it didn't run like a chevy corvette.
