Rating: Summary: Simply a terrific radio! Review: I have taken this all over the US East Coast and it's everything a "simple to use, listen to, and look at" radio should be.Not only that, but the price is RIGHT! I cannot say enough about how much I have enjoyed this radio since 1999. I have tuned into Sports, Talk radio and FM music and it sounds great, has tremendous reception, even in office buildings, football game tailgates, as well as the campground. Always the faithful companion. Go get one for you and your friends!
Rating: Summary: Love this radio! Review: Great sound quality, even better reception, especially on A.M. You cannot buy a portable radio with reception this good at this price. I understand the C.Crane unit has awesome reception, but it is $... I bought two SR3's for under $...; one for home, and one for work. I use it primarily on the A.M. band for news and sports, but music on F.M. sounds great too. Don't let the lack of digital tuning scare you away, this thing picks up stations you didn't even know were there. If you happen to live in an area where reception is particularly tough, the addition of a Select-A-Tenna will improve performance. The Select-A-Tenna can be purchased from a number of different on-line retailers. Just do a search and you will find one. I've been told Terk makes a pretty good antenna too, but not having used one I can't really comment. Overall the GE Superadio 3 is a very good buy. If you're considering it, go ahead, spend the fifty bucks. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: super radio Review: If your looking for a radio for the bedroom kitchin garage or to take out camping this is the one! Went to circit city, and wall mart could not find one with these fetures for the price, remember back in the 60s&70s when every body had a portable radio and they sounded pretty good with superb qulity, this is one of those radios
Rating: Summary: Super(b) Radio Review: Great radio, crystal clear reception. Able to tune in to those channels no possible with digital tuners. Another plus for General Electric. Quality product!
Rating: Summary: Does eveything it should do. Review: For a very small price, this radio does all you would ask it to. If you like listening to AM radio (I like sports on radio) then this is an excellent cost effective piece of equipment to own. Nothing flashy, just sold performance.
Rating: Summary: A bit of history Review: As someone who worked for the GE Audio division back when the first Superadio was developed, I can attest to the fact that the product was seriously designed as a very high quality piece. The engineers had their GE radio reputations on the line, and the concept of good mono vs. bad stereo obviously had market appeal. Over the years, inevitable cost compromise decisions have undoubtedly been made (I was part of some of these types of discussions as well), but when I was looking for a good portable radio, this version was high on the list. We have been satisfied with our recent purchase and would recommend a listen to anyone interested in good reception and sound. One problem is that there are relatively few retail outlets at which to check this out, but that's why we have Amazon, right?
Rating: Summary: Incredible Review: In 1995 my father put together an "El Nino" kit. It had a flashlight, radio, and batteries for both. But before he gave it to us he tested the equipment. Well the flashlight only ran for 24 continuous hours, but the radio went for three months on one set of batteries, and he stopped because he had to give us the radio not because the batteries gave. For eight years I have counted on this radio to deliver all my baseball games that I can't watch on TV. It has never failed. It has more range than any other radio in my house and I have only changed the batteries twice in the time I have had it. The only shortcoming of the radio is that it has no digital tuner, but I'll give that up any day for the reliability that this product provides.
Rating: Summary: This radio really works as advertised Review: For a low end radio, the reception is remarkable. I own 10 radios and the GE is the best yet for long range AM reception.
Rating: Summary: Good Radio Review: The radio gets excellent reception. Packaged in a layout that's simple to understand and operate, the radio is perfect for the office or trips. It's worth buying if you are looking for good reception with good sound. Don't expect the quality of music you would get from a Bose or similar radio. It's perfect for news, sports and talk radio -- even music in the background or played low.
