Summary: Pulls in FM stations
Review: I bought this based on the reviews that it was good at pulling in stations. I work in a building that is terrible at pulling in radio reception and I'm very satisfied with the FM signals I can pull in and therefore this product provides value to me.

The earbuds and pleather case should be thrown away. Like other reviewers I believe the speaker is also inadequate. My batteries didn't last long, but that's probably a sign that the radio tunes in stations well enough to be used daily! Overall, I think it is a great product.

Summary: Doesn't work well inside
Review: I bought this radio after reading the reviews here on Amazon. I bought it to use while working out indoors (for all of you women who use it outside: every women's magazine will tell you not to wear headphones outside), and the reception was really poor. Very loud hissing noises. Couldn't get any television stations. Further note: this was my second radio. The first arrived defective (although Amazon handled the return very nicely and promptly).

Summary: Near perfect but not quite....
Review: I bought this radio over a year ago and I have certainly gotten an amazing amount of use out of it. The reception is good, if not great. FM reception is good, AM reception is very good, TV reception is about as good as the FM but the weather band is somewhat weak. It's size is great. It can be carried around anywhere you and can be pretty much used anywhere. The perfect radio for those who like being able to listen to quality radio where ever you go.
But it is not quite perfect. There are a few flaws that I hope Sangean can make note of when they redesign the product or when they come out with a new version. First and foremost, the including carrying case is all but useless, and should cover the whole radio and have a real belt clip. Second the buttons are in an odd place, and although you get used to using them, can be a little annoying. The power button's location is poor, the hold button must be on at all times if you do not want the radio going on. Plus the button gets beat up badly. The LCD screen needs somewhat of a backlight so you can see what your doing at night or in a dark area. Finally, like another reviewer mentioned the earjack is somewhat fragile and has taken a beating. To be able to listen in both ears I now must hold the phones in the jack at a certain angle. This has become very annoying.
But overall its great and I have definitley gotten my 70 bucks out of it. It has good reception and is great on batteries. I'm on the verge of purchasing a new one, but I keep on waiting, hoping for Sangean to come out with a new model. If not, I'll be perfectly content purchasing this one again.

Summary: Disapointed in Unit's Weather Reception
Review: I bought this radio primarily because it had the NOAA weather band and other buyers rated it very good. I don't agree with their high ratings.

It is a good unit except its performance on the weather band is confusing and disappointing. I live near a NOAA station and the radio picks up this same station (162.400 MHz) on all channels 1 through 7. And the volume must be turned up much higher on this band than on the other bands. It picks up no other stations, but my wife has a similar Radio Shack portable that picks up additional stations at 162.425, 162.525, and 162.550 MHz with all of them on their appropriate channel.

I was informed by a Sangean service tech that this is normal performance for this model and can't be corrected.

I would certainly return it if I could, but I have unfortunately waited too long.

I have to give this product a one star rating when compared with the similar Radio Shack radio. That unit performs much better on the weather band and equals the performance of the Sangean model in all other respects. It also has a belt clip and power cutoff time can be set while the Sangean unit has a fixed 90 minute cutoff.

Summary: Eats up batteries, stopped working after a couple weeks
Review: I bought this radio thinking I would appreciate the extra bands (weather, tv) and that I would get great fm and am reception. Those things were nice, but this radio ate up batteries very quickly. I had to change batteries every week or so. On my old analog pocket radio (which I use a lot) batteries last at least a couple months.

After a few weeks of use the whole thing kind of crapped out on me. While I was listening to it, it sort of crackled, and then some new station came on. From that point on, every single setting brought in this new station. Weird. I sent it back.

Also, the speaker is too quiet to be of any real use. I've had other mini radios, and this has the worst built in speaker I have heard.

Summary: Needs Ear Piece To Get FM?
Review: I didn't buy the Grundig / Porsche radio because these reviews seemed better. This radio is tiny and though it has a speaker you need the ear piece to get an FM signal - it stinks basically. My girlfriend and I bought them for our Dads, but couldn't get to work. Wasted $ on gift wrap & 2 day air. -Dan

Summary: Best radio I own
Review: I have read a number of bad reviews on this radio. However, I would have to strongly disagree. The FM reception is superb. I live about 60 miles outside of Boston and I get all of the stations in great, even in the car, where reception usually lacks on other radios. AM is ok, but if you are looking for a powerful FM reciever, you found the right radio.

Summary: A very nice little pocket unit
Review: I just bought the Sangeon DT-300. I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews here, but after using it for a couple of weeks, I think it is as good as the positive reviews state. It replaces a 10 year old Walkman that I had dropped on the floor too many times and the earphone jack got a loose connection. It has a mini-jack that accepts regular earplugs like those used on other portables (not a "micro plug"). It has 9 weather channels, but typically, only 2 or 3 will be active in a given area. The reception is very good, but like any radio, it falls off some inside a building - especially steel buildings. But overall, I am very impressed both with the reception, and the sound quality of the earplugs. They have made big improvements in the past ten years. It is surprisingly light, and I worry about dropping it and getting a loose connection again, so I put it in the flimsy little carrying case, and then put that in an old cell phone case, and the combo seems to work well. I especially like it in the gym where they have the TV on, but no sound. With the Sangeon, I now can hear the TV too. For such a small light package it does preetty good.

Summary: Pros and cons
Review: I love radios and have owned over thirty. I am constantly looking for the holy grail - a radio with great reception and plenty of features. I haven't found that yet but I can do comparisons. Here are the pros and cons of this one:Pros:1) This is truly a pocket radio and very light. It feels lighter than a deck of cards.2) Digital tuning - a rarity in pocket radios. You can quickly scan from station to station and from AM to FM to TV.3) Has a speaker built in. You don't need headphones. The sound quality is adequate for talk radio and AM music. The volume is adequate for quiet environments.4) It has TV audio and the reception was ok on the four major stations in my area.Cons:1) There is no built in FM telescoping antenna. You need to insert headphones or the included wire and switch it to speaker in order to get most FM stations. A small telescoping antenna would have been an improvement. I find the hanging wire annoying and I think it is just a matter of time before I lose the wire.2) The reception is not as great as the Amazon review suggests. I found that there was a good deal of static on several AM stations and AM is very dirctional. FM was great on headphones, though.3) The cary case is a joke. It looks like an afterthought. It is a membrane thin piece of vinyl that will not protect the radio.4) The ear buds are also a joke.5) Weather reception was the worst I have ever heard on a modern radio.6) The tuning light is bright and, no doubt, draining the batteries like crazy. If you are looking for a pocket radio that is digital and has a built in speaker, this will do. I see lots of room for improvement, though. I also think it is overpriced. I think it should be 39.99. It would be about right at that price.

Summary: FM didn't work
Review: I must have gotten a lemon because the radio I received had a problem. All the functions worked well except for the FM receiver, which only crackled and spewed white noise no matter what we did to correct it. I am returning the radio for replacing because I had bought this for my husband's birthday present and he wants to try another one. I hope we won't be disapointed.
