Rating: Summary: Can't turn it off. Review: The Midland WR-300 is a nice looking radio that is easy to program. However, I was unable to turn off the weather radio broadcast even when the weather hazard on/off button was off. This makes it impossibe to have the radio in standby mode in the bedroom unless you want to listen to the weather all night. Tech Support at Midland found the same problem with a radio they tested at Midland and said I could maybe put a towel over it so I wouldn't hear it (I'm serious)
Rating: Summary: Very good weather radio for the price Review: The SAME function is a somewhat annoying to get started but it is well worth it. No getting woken up for thunderstorms two counties away. It could be easier to use. Whe you set it up, you need to read the manual to get all the features going so relax and make the time to do it. All in all, it does what it says it does and I have had mine for 3 months now with no problems.
The one thing I would really like would be a way to clear the expired alerts.
I really like having an intelligent clock radio that can alert me to hazards.
Rating: Summary: Great Buy Review: This is a wonderful radio. Most of the problems discussed by prior people are not problems at all. Just read the directions carefully and you will have a great experience with this radio. The only downside is that this radio does not allow you to adjust the backlight length. The four seconds or so that it stays lit is not enough sometimes. Overall, this is the best weather radio I have ever owned.
Rating: Summary: Poor reception Review: This small radio has virtually no reception in this area without an external antenna. It is expensive to find this out and pay freight both ways + additional return charges.
Rating: Summary: Works fine. Review: We have an earlier radio and wanted this new model, but were almost afraid to buy it because of the "Can't turn it off, towel" review. Actually it works fine. The programming is not difficult, but also is not intuitive, so don't lose the booklet and be sure to get batteries to avoid losing your efforts. We wish it had a "sleep" feature, and the AM and FM volumes are different, but we bought three more for gifts.
