Review: I purchased this after having one of the defective Virgin Pulse models. The MP3 audio quality is excellent and battery life is great. There is no display for the audio tracks or backlighting, but given the high sound quality I find this an acceptable trade off. The headphones produce outstanding sound, but are uncomfortable - I'd recommend replacing them with something else. Most people already have a favorite pair anyway. AM/FM with presets is a nice feature and one that I use occasionally. It is perfect in size and VERY lightweight.

I've had A LOT of CD/MP3 players as they frequently get dropped at the gym. This is the first player I've had (of many makes & models) that I would buy again without hesitation. I would have given it 5 stars, but am marking it down by one for the uncomfortable headphones and lack of display.

Review: I've had it for over six months now.

The sound quality is really good. However, it is quite flimsy. The outer casing seems to be the kind that can easily be opened up. That's not a very good thing.

However, I've had no major problems with the sound. It's great. The bass works good. Radio tuner is great. Has a really long battery life, so that's also a plus point!

Summary: A Great Buy
Review: This is a great discman. Now I am not an expert on discmans, since I have only owned about 4, contacting this one, in my life. They were a Sony, Fishman, Sony and now a Panasonic. Normaly I only buy Sony for my electrics. Now Sony is still a great electric company. But since I just bought a VCR\DVD from Panasonic, and it worked so well, I figured this one would to. And in my opinion and some of my friends' opinion it is great. Ok now more about this discman. No. 1, I feel it is very easy to operate, in you read the directions. Also it is easy to turn it off, just press and hold down 'Stop.' Also after you turn it off or press Stop or Pause, once you press play again, it will start from the exact second, it ended on. No. 2, it runcs on 2 AA batteries. This is not only a discman, but a AM\FM radio. It can up to 20 stations on FM and 10 stations on AM. This discman can play CDs, MP3 CD, audio CD-R, and audio CD-RW, but not ID3 tags. This plays up to 75 hrs of MP3 and up to 33 hrs of CD music. So in this review's opinion, this is a great buy and will work.

is excellent. I've owned a 1/2 dozen earlier models where
you had to wait up to 3 minutes for the unit to find the
song .. and then you couldn't even walk down the street
or they would skip or you had to restart the unit.

This is the second of these units. I didn't learn with the
first one. I would rate this 5 stars if the construction
wasn't so shoddy. It's a joke. Putting this unit down too
fast on a counter or closing the unit too fast will break
the flimsy hinge off of it. Put it in your coat pocket
and if you squeeze too hard (or even gently) on the unit ...
the the LCD readout on the face becomes unreadable.

Panasonic is EVEN AWARE of the problem as they offer a
more expensive unit supposedly with double hinges.
This is a real waste of 59 bucks. I bought mine at J and R
Music in NYC.
Now, my friend bought 5 of these units and returned them
for the same reasons. He lucked out, and bought them at
COSCO which has a liberal return policy. Me ... I'm out
$130 bucks. The second unit I bought, I didn't open for
a week ... but it didn't last for two uses. Panasonic, once
a company who made telephones and consumer products you
could drive a nail into the wall with, and it still will
be functioning ... has opted to produce, cheap crap.
Don't even think of buying this for a kid or even if you
have clumsy fingers ... the closing hinge will break off
in a sneeze. Shame on you Panasonic. This would have been
an Excellent value if you put an extra buck into construction.
Instead .... you've turned off a lifetime customer ... Well...
back to Sony.

Summary: The CD player is good
Review: Well, I was looking around Wal-Mart for a new CD player, that had radio and MP3. They had a few Durabrands, but I was scared to buy one because of their lack of durability and quality in the past. They had a few Maganvoxs (spelling check?), but the look wasn't too appealing. They had some Sonys, but they were kinda pricey, even though the money was worth it. So, on to Target (which had a bigger selection anyway).

They had GPX, but similar to Durabrand. They had the Virgin Pulse and I've read poor reviews about it in the past.

Okay, you're sick of me talking about the selection...alright alright alright already.

Anyway, I found this. It had exactly what I was looking for, and the blue color catches attention. The price kinda turned me off, but I really did want it.

I'm glad I still bought this. The sound quality is excellent, and features not one, not two, but three bass setting. One is no bass excelerator, SXBS, and SXBS+. The headphones are a bit akward to use, but once you put them on, they sound great, and they become quite comfortable.

It took me about 15 minutes to figure it out, but the manual was very clear, and then I got used to it, though the beginners may want to stay away if they can't read the manual.

The durability is quite good, though people often bash it (what do you expect dropping it with the lid open?). It feels lightweight, which makes it feel flimsy, but it really isn't at all and the lightweight features is just another good thing about the player.

The battery life lasts much longer than my old player (RP2472). 72 hours will last you awhile!

Though, there's no remote, and the MP3 option is a pain, which do make minor negatives, that should not force you to not buy this CD player!


P.S. This player is not meant to play WMA. It says so on the bottom of the box. It says "This unit cannot play files if they have a suffix other than mp3 or MP3." Meaning, it only plays mp3 format songs.
