Summary: It started out ok...
Review: Although it may seem expensive at first for a webcam, that is far from its only feature. It can also be used as a portable digital camera and voice annotation recorder. The 8MB internal memory is enough for more than 90 pictures at 640x480 resolution. Yes, the images can be a bit blurry and require you to hold the camera steady for a couple seconds, but don't expect miracles from something so inexpensive. The other drawback is that there is no video display, only a very basic three-character LCD. Fortunately there is enough memory to take more than enough shots for most occasions. It also comes with a carrying case which, while protecting the lens, shows off its rather odd profile by leaving the top two corners exposed. The included software is adequate but not extraordinary.

Pros: lots of memory, versatile, folding hinge and rubber strips make desktop use easy and steady, voice recorder, 640x480 resolution which is rare for many webcams

Cons: strange shape, feels too big and too flimsy, expensive

Bottom Line: This fills the gap between a dirt cheap webcam and an entry level digital camera, so you get some features from both. However, you may want to spend a little extra and get one of each instead of trying to use this beyond its capacity. The best alternative I have found while shopping is the Aiptek Pen Cam (may cost anywhere from US 60-90), which I still may get later because it is much more portable and looks to have better software. Nevermind the inherent cool factor of having a pen cam, just like James Bond!

Review: I bought this cam from Wal-Mart, brought it home, installed it, and everything was fine. A few weeks later, I was trying to get it online for my family to watch me on cam, and the output was just a green screen. At first I thought it was te free program I was using for the online web community. But I was checking out the cam and the batteries were corroded!! They were brand new batteries too! So it wasn't the batteries fault. I paid way too much for this camera. I bought it when they were $... and I took it back to Wal-Mart and only got $... of my money back because Creative had limited refund requirements. Overall a bad buy. I will never buy from this company again!!
