Summary: Great Camera....but so much for compatibility
Review: Works great on everything except 95/98 and it seems to work best on ME. If you have a VIA chipset especially (like me) you can just forget about it installing right. Heres what happened:

With my first mobo I used the software on the cd rom and the camera never recognized right, after it said to plug the camera in, the Plug and Play Window would come up and say USB Device and then all of a sudden change to an unknown device I [messed]around with the software on the disc 3 or 4 times removing it and reinstalling it. Downloaded hardware patches from VIA's site and it did not work. Fast forward one year, bought a new mobo after lsat one stopped working right after a failed attempt to rewrite the BIOS (never bother with flashing your BIOS btw too much at risk) downloaded NEWER version of software from Logitech site, installed hardware patches from manufactuers site, then installed Quickcrap, and SAME problem, re-recognized as Unknown device, there have been moments where it has recognized correctly, however, it goes back to being an unknown device after a few reboots of my pc.

There is OBVIOUSLY a problem with logitech's software since many other ppl I have talked to with the same problem at the VIA Technologies website on the support BBS said that the 4-in-1 VIA patch and USB Filter patch worked like a wonder to make their webcam work; however, it is not been that simple for me. ANd I have had tried to get this to install on my breothers pc (he has a Intel chipset) and it does the same thing, after I install it with the newest version of Quickcrap.

Logitech should be more concerned about writing proper code rather than catering to newbies.

Fast forward yet another year, now it just sits in my box it came in, I have long since given up on making it work and I am still debating whether or not to cave in and spend [more] to get a Lucent USB upgrade card and hopefully itll work then.

It handles streaming media better than the camera I borrowed from a friend since then. It records videos VERY smoothly, problem is getting the goddamn thing to be recognized properly by windows.

Pay attention to what reviewer alex j. avriette said, as well it pales in comparison to my problem.

This will NOT work if you have a SIS, ALI or (espeically) a VIA Chipset. According to VIA and Logitech getting a lucent usb upgrade card is your only option to get this damn thing working if your having the same trouble as my problems, and have a VIA chipset.

But if I was you I would not bother with buying this if you have one of the three trouble chipset brands listed about, its not worth the grief...
