Summary: I love it. =)
Review: My friend convinced me to get a webcam just for general internet broadcasting. After reading a few reviews and seeing a few in action, I settled on the 3com. I was a bit nervous after reading some things about how it might be difficult to set up...I had no problems whatsoever in installing. I currently broadcast to a cam community, and get many, many compliments on the clarity of the image. Really, the comparisons I see make me increadably happy I bought this cam...none of the grainyness of the quickcams or the low light problems...just a really, really clear picture. I use it with WebCam32 software, but have also used WebCam2000, netmeeting, and Real Producer with no problems. I've installed it on two other computers, one a slow old thing using Win95, and then my dad's computer, and had no troubles there, either. My only qualm is that, while amazingly clear and the like, the color saturation isn't /quite/ what it could be, the image is sometimes a little washed out. But, for the price and adaptability and clarity, this cam is amazing.

Summary: The camera by itself is excellent
Review: The camera in itself works excellent and is a technological masterpiece. You aim it into a dark room, but it still manages to soak up enough light to make the picture/video look like as it was taken in broad daylight. However, the software that comes with it feels outdated and unprofessional, and doesn't match that of the installation guide. When I tried to register the product electronically, it tried to register my modem instead. The 3Com website, where I had to go to find additional support when the first installation failed, didn't provide any help and was difficult to navigate.

Summary: Best of the Best
Review: I have one webcam before this ($70 at the time of purchase) for about a year, then I finally got sick of it and bought one of these 3com Home connects because of all the rage I hear about them.

The webcam I had before was all right and it came with a built in mic so I stuck with it for a while, but the 3com blows my old one out of the water! Mainly the light adjustment feature. It will adjust like it is daylight in my room even though there are no lights on, just the sun trying to come through the dark curtains I have.

Next is the fact that it comes with the Webcam32 software. This is the best webcam software I have ever used. Except for maybe the new inetcam IVISTA 3.0, I haven't had enough time to explore all of it's features but it is looking very promising. (As long as it streams video without sucking CPU cycles and crash a lot more than any program should (webcam32 does just that) then I will be happy. -- Webcam32 has the most features and is easiest to use, so far.

Lets just say I am very impressed and I have since bought 3 more to bring my total up to 5 webcams in my home. (The fifth is a Sony Handycam converted.)This marvelous webcam is well worth the money.

The only gripe I have is that it is not very heavy, and USB cables can be heavy pulling the back down and rising the view to look at the ceiling. But if you are like me then the "tape solves everything" method will do just fine.

My recommendation to 3com, if they actually manufacture this product themselves, is to maybe have notches in where the webcam swivels some how so you can lock it into place and the USB cable will not bring the back end down.

Summary: excellent
Review: I don't see what some of you are finding wrong with this camera. This camera is excellent; I have absolute NO complaints. Out of ALL of my online friends, my pictures are always the most crisp and clear, and the color is absolutely amazing. And I, for one, am not overexaggerating. If you have a problem with this camera, outside of any problems you may have with 3com customer service, you're doing something wrong. I have had this camera well over a year and it continues to turn out excellent pictures. The color, light, sharpness, and brightness controls give the EXACT effect I want everytime. You'll believe it when you see it.

Summary: Canada
Review: I tried to purchase this product and some other products. All the products are not available to Canadian buyers. When you want to checkout it refuses the order. This is very stupid and most customer unfriendly. They should warn you immediately that they do not deliver to any other country except the USA.

Summary: Great Resolution and Low Light Performance
Review: This camera is far superior to any of the three I've owned before. I replaced a Winnov, which was MUCH more expensive. The 3Com is very forgiving of poor lighting, resolution is superb, and tint is easily adjusted. My only complaints are that the base is rather flimsy and the adjustment is stiff. This combined with the bulky USB cable sometimes make it difficult to place the camera exactly where you want it. Focusing is easy, but a little more resistance in the lens movement would prevent it from being changed inadvertantly. I found the flickering LED on front of the camera very annoying, but it can fortunately be turned off through the software. Excellent buy, expecially at the current discounts!

Summary: Utilitarian choice
Review: As long as you don't expect too much from a [$] USB camera, you'll be pleased with this one. The picture quality is almost as good as you can get with a webcam. For me, the important features are the autofocus and the low-lighting capability. As far as I am aware, no other camera provides these. (although a necessity, the [$] laptop clip is a rip-off) IMPORTANT: esp. for w2k users: don't use the CD that comes with the camera - all the software on it is incompatible with w2k (won't even install) and the drivers (that do install) are old. Download the new drivers from 3COM (...) they come with a few utilities.

Summary: pc digital camera
Review: it supports usb, which is great because if i need to change to some other device i can. The camera itself looks pretty good.

Summary: Great resolution but is not always practical
Review: The resolution is very good, and it's ability to see in low light settings and add light is really useful. The main downside, though, is the file size of the pictures. If I get a picture to a decent size with good resolution, it's over half a megabyte. Videos can be several megabytes. And printing pictures wouldn't be as good as using a conventional camera and developing the film. While this has some uses and is convenient, it's not a replacement for cameras or video cameras.

Summary: 3COM Support
Review: This camera is a nightmare. Anyone who writes otherwise must work for 3COM. Their support is terrible and they could care less whether you keep the product or not.
