Rating: Summary: 3com review Review: Easy install in windows XP. Good picture quality. Jammin
Rating: Summary: Best by far Review: I've been looking for a good webcam for quite some time now, unfortunately, all the top reviews went to the 3com homeconnect which was discontinued. Next best seemed to be a bit of a toss up and I pumped for a Logitech 4000. This cam is pretty good but was still a bit of a letdown in some areas. Focussing, stand, low light ability etc. Not as good as I was hoping for so I decided to look harder for a 3com. I struck lucky! They are not in fact hard to get. Brand new and spectacular performers. The cam is available from many places on-line and varies wildly in price, so search around.Performance and installation: I'm running WinXP sp1 and theinstallation was simple, fast and faultless... took about 3 minutes in total and I was broadcasting. Good so-far. I took a look at the picture quality and was quite taken aback by how sharp and clear the picture was. Auto White balance is very good, something the Logitech is bad at. Low light capability is stunning for a webcam. Build quality looks good, far more robust than most others I've looked at and although the cable is quite cumbersome for a light camera, it's not too big of a problem. The tripod screw base is a good point too if you want to mount it somewhere uneven. It comes with an array of comprehensive image controlls via software and is very easy to set up and tweak. The default settings, apart from the default resolution setting, is good though. Excellent performer and worth every penny.
Rating: Summary: BEST WEBCAM EVER Review: The best webcam up to this date. I have tried Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000, and still until today..March 2003, this it the best webcam....also works under Windows XP Service Pack 1
Rating: Summary: Great Camera Review: I bought three of these cameras, so my family and I can stay in touch. I upgraded to XP, and was shocked when I went to install it, and it would not work. I was already to buy a new camera, when I by chance, looked at some of these reviews. Thanks to those who provided a link to the XP Driver. I really like this camera, and I am looking forward to using it on my XP machine.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic--- so sorry that it is no longer made. Review: this was the first PC Camera that I bought, and it is by far the best. I've tried to find a second camera that I'm happy with, and returned them all. This camera has a great image and a great tolerance for low candle power. I have it running perfectly smoothly on my XP machine, so for you folks out there who haven't gotten it up and running, drop me a line. I'll gladly buy your camera from you!
Rating: Summary: Don't ever buy this cam because there are no drivers for xp Review: I got this cam a year ago, very good picture quality but when i upgraded to windows xp pro and go to the site of 3com to look for a driver for this cam, they got not a single driver available......they didn't support the cam anymore,to old ........so....... no more driverupdates, so i wasted my money on that thing, i have a major company that made software for conferencing ..... so i will never buy a single product anymore from 3com
Rating: Summary: OK, but watch out! Review: As expected with any CCD, mine got a hospot burned into the image where the sun hit the camera at the same point every afternoon (I have it watching my front pasture). I have since adjusted the position. ALSO: A lot of the software included is actually DEMO versions and if you want to use them for more than just play you either have to go buy the full version or hack around your setup to work aroung the limits of the demo version (this seems to be a common, but still misleading, way all the cam manufactures bundle the software with their webcams.
Rating: Summary: Be Careful Review: Great camera. In fact if it weren't for the following problem I would give it 6 stars. The problem is the driver won't work with Windows XP and 3 Com is dicontinuing this camera so they aren't going to develop a driver that works with XP. Low blow 3 Com.
Rating: Summary: You Can Use It on XP Review: Yes, 3Com dose not provide XP driver for it. But you can go to [http://www.vistaimaging.com/download.htm] to download ViCAM6858.EXE. Actually, This product was manufactured by 3Com under license by Vista Imaging. Vista Imaging provides the driver usable on XP. I tried it, it works well on XP. This is a very good PC camera, you may use it on XP. Because 3Com discontinued it, I rate it 4 starts.
Rating: Summary: good camera kinda pricey Review: i have had this cam since they first came out with this model. and i love it, works great.........really your internet connection is going to play a bigger factor in what it looks like then what camera you buy. but i've been very happy with how it looks and the speed..........it's one of the best if u ask me.
