Rating: Summary: quality cam Review: This is my first webcam. The picture quality is excellent, it took less than 1/2 hour to install camera and all software and set up for use with Yahoo Messenger. (I have Windows 98). Very easy to make video clips and photos and has many great features.
Rating: Summary: A very decent webcam for the money Review: With the $...gift certificate that I applied toward buying this webcam, I ended up paying ONLY $... for one of the best webcams in the market. Thanks Amazon.com. Here are the pro's and con's about this webcam. Pro's: 1. Excellent low light capability. 2. High quality picture. 3. Easy to install.Con's: 1. Unstable (cheesy) tripod (stand). 2. Very inadequate operating manual. 3. Unfriendly manual focus ring.
Rating: Summary: good image but do not say megapixel ! Review: The QuickCam pro4000 from Logitech delivers a good 640 x 480 image, with good detail and good colors. Great photo can be taken, as well as timelapse and short videos. But when it comes to the 'megapixel' (1280) mode the camera does not deliver (I have a 1 megapixel dig camera, the image is much sharper. I can zoom and crop a lot). It seems Logitech has done software tricks (2x resize of a 640 and then apply a gauss filter) to fake a megapixel image. Logitech disappoints on this one, and should legally write on the box that the megapixel mode is obtained by SOFTWARE INTERPOLATION This is the first time Logitech disappoints and I still adore the many other logitech products I have. I will still keep this camera for its good 640 image, much better than my old QC traveller Under low light I see vertical lines, but this is normal for a [$$] class product About packaging the camera always comes off its futuristic mount because the pivot attachement is not well designed and the cable is pretty thick. Focusing is also very hard, the focus ring is hard to catch Software: my vaio with xp gets gets stuck sometimes after recording a sequence. The soft MGI photosuite 4.0 SE is okay but my old MGI v8.1 has many more image processing functions Conclusion: this camera will make you happy, but do not buy it if you are attracted mostly by the megapixel feature
Rating: Summary: Good Review: Great image quality over other webcams i tried. However software didnt work well with my XP and I tried to uninstall and install over adozen times with tech help from the company. I cant take stills or videos with it from its own software. SO instead I opted to keep the cam for its image quality and use the xp digital video software to make up for what this cam/s software did not allow me to do.
Rating: Summary: Worst webcam ever Review: The webcam shows pictures only intermittently. The short waranty period and no 1800 tech support number have made installing and getting this camera to work the single most frustrating experience in past 6 months. The tech support in addition has been distinctly unhelpful. The camera built is also flimsy with the round portion popping out of the stand every now and then. I have been using computers for past 10 years (programming) and have not experienced any problems with hardware till date. It is the first time I have written a review for any product and the only reason is that I have felt compelled by the poor standard of the equipment.
Rating: Summary: A lot of noises Review: This is a fine webcam. Installation was smooth, the software that came with it was pretty good for windows 98 to xp. The image quality was Okay, but that's all that I can say about it. At resolution of 640X480, there are a lot of noticable noises which does happen to my FAR VEO webcam which works under a lower resolution though. The overall bulid seems not quite solid but it's okay if you don't always carry it around. At this price, I would like to say the overall picture quality is a little bit disappointing, but you probably won't be able to find anything much better than this one on the current market.
Rating: Summary: No Problems with XP Review: Had this camera up and running in minutes on an XP machine with SP1 and all the latest updates. Reboots fine too, others have reported XP computers locking-up during reboot with the camera connected. Had no problems with Yahoo Messenger 5.5 either, in fact, the super cam option is really good. Recommended.
Rating: Summary: Logitech Pro 4000 Simply The Best. Review: Well after contemplating for a while on which web cam to buy I ended up buying the Logitech Pro 4000. Main reason I brought this camera was because of the features that it has and the fact that it has a CCD lens over the standard CMOS lens that other webcams use. Prior to purchasing this cam I was using a Creative Webcam 3 which I guess did the job for most of the time. But it was always a problem under low lighting and also suffered from very grainy images or videos. However none of these problems occur with the Logitech Pro 4000 even under very low lighting! I am completly happy with this webcam and I have to say that it is one of the best things I have ever brought for my computer. I highly recommend this webcam to anyone who is contemplating on which cam to buy. It was so easy to setup right out of the box! The zoom, pan and tilt functions of the camera is such a nice bonus as well. But what made it best of the best in my book was its ability to out perform my Webcam 3 and no doubt others under very low lighting. In fact even under the very lowest of lighting conditions the Logitech Pro 4000 still out performed my Webcam 3 under the best lighting conditions possible in my computer room. This camera is worth every penny and I cannot say enough good things about it. So as I said before if you want the best webcam on the market in my opinion look no further than the Logitech Pro 4000 and I wish to say a Big Thank You to Logitech for creating such a fantastic webcam!
Rating: Summary: better than i thought Review: After reading all the bad reviews i was hesitant to buy this camera. But now i'm glad i bought it, the stand is not that great but the quality of the picture out does that. For the price its the best you can buy.
Rating: Summary: worth the money Review: I got this camera for my wife so she and I could video conference. She and I are in different countries for a little while and talking via phone is very expensive. We've been using Netmeeting to talk via highspeed internet and the picture from the QuickCam Pro 4000 is really good. On her side the colors (from her own cam) are crystal clear. On my side I see a fairly clear picture. It's not perfect, but that is due to the connection. The signal is travelling more than 2000 miles..so I don't expect a perfect picture. I work in Technology so I wasn't worried about setting up the cam. My wife on the other hand is an average computer user, that is to say, she knows how to turn it on and surf the web. She was able to plug this camera in and have it work within 5 minutes. I am impressed. This cam is a bit more expensive than most, but the ease of setup and the quality of the product make it worth it to us.
