Summary: Works well with MSN & Yahoo Messenger
Review: This is a nice webcam for webconferencing use and I was pleased how easy it was to use with MSN and Yahoo messenger. The frame rate with MSN Messenger was pretty high and resolution decent.
For a comparison, I have also tried a webcam approximately in the $ range which didn't seem compatible with these instant messengers.

The camera has a face tracking feature which is nice. As for quality of images, it's good enough quality for a webcam and still photos can be used for a photo Id.

Summary: Absolutely great!
Review: If you're looking for clear images and close to perfect photo clips/videos, this camera is for you. I use it to chat with my family overseas and it works great. Take advantage of the price right now while it lasts. I recommend it 100%.

Summary: Fun & Easy to Use
Review: To give you a little background, I've never had one of these before as I usually just use my digital cam. I received the QuickCam Pro 4000 as a present and I'm in love with it. :) It lives up to its "quick" name: set-up was a breeze. I was up and running within 15 minutes and had my first video conference shortly thereafter. I had heard there are issues between Windows XP and the QuickCam Pro 4000, but if there are, I haven't experienced it yet, so perhaps that deals with earlier editions (I did notice during set-up it installed a Windows XP patch). The picture is clear; still shots and video are high-quality, even in low-light settings or when using MSN Messenger. The only complaint I have as far as performance is one mentioned below -- it is a little tricky to make sure the cam stays on the mount as it comes unscrewed easily. And I'm not thrilled that you need to buy SpotLife in order to broadcast or have live cam action. But I consider those minor details and would highly recommend this fun camera to anyone for its ease of use and high-quality images/video.

Summary: Great Webcam
Review: Bought this product, hooked up to my system and am very satisfied with the features and its reliability (Logitech, of course). My friends report that I am seen and heard very well when online. Don't hesitate, great camera for anything requiring online contact. You must remember that internet traffic, your connection and equipment are factors that influence the end-product, but if all the givens are at peak the camera gives you just what you've been expecting.... quality performance!

Summary: Great Camera, ...
Review: I looked at this camera mainly for long-distance calling over the internet. I find that although the image is smaller than I expected over AIM (and there is no sound), you can use MSN Messenger to get both a bigger image and sound. Be careful--if you're using AOL to get online, it may restrict your ability to send/recieve video and audio. My boyfriend could not send sound over the internet because AOL blocked that aspect. But overall it's a good little camera that serves its purpose well.

Summary: Could NOT get it to work with Windows XP & Yahoo Messenger
Review: I have to give this thing a somewhat poor rating because the documentation and web support are weak. I could not get this device to work with my Windows XP Pro system (I am very computer literate) and Yahoo Messenger 5.5. I'm not sure if it's a Windows/Yahoo/Logitech problem, but after cleaning my computer's registry, searching for tech notes, installing/reinstalling/uninstalling, I could not get this thing to work (I threw away many hours of my life trying)! I gave up on my desktop computer (Win XP machine) and installed on my Windows 2000 Pro laptop...bingo! It worked. For the price, it's not horrible, but I don't love it. The software bundle is a bit cheesy. As far as being "flimsy" as others have written...I'm not sure how rugged it needs to be sitting on your monitor?! I have enjoyed making stupid faces at my brother in-law who lives in San Diego...our kids love it too.

Summary: A Great camera compared to the rest.
Review: I purchased the pro 4000 to be able to see our grand children while traveling in the air force. The camera was very clear and the video could be viewed on full screen. The software interfaced very easly with win XP. Our son bought a logitech messenger which was good. He tried an express and returned it due to very poor video. The mount was solid but I was prepared for replacing it. I would recommend it without a problem.

Summary: Good Deal, Good Quality
Review: This cam was very easy for me -- so easy that I got my dad to buy one. He's 72 and had no problem setting it up and using it either.

The Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 is my first webcam, so I don't have anything to compare it with. But for the price, I think it's a great deal. The quality is what I expected. My picture looks as good (and sometimes better) than many cams I see out there.

The set up is easy -- I have a Dell laptop running Windows XP.

The only drawback I can see is that you must use one cam broadcaster at a time. For instance, you cannot broadcast on Yahoo Messanger at the same time you may be in a webcam chat room on the web.

Otherwise, I'm completely satisfied.

Summary: a new generation of webcam
Review: for the first time, there is a webcam with good optical quality:
1. good exposure control
2. sharp image
3. good color
4. not bad in low-light situation

There is no other reason to buy other webcams (even cheaper models from Logitech)

Summary: Greate Web Cam
Review: This is my first WebCam. I do own still digital cameras. Just installed the Camera and S/W last night. It is a good looking device, not Military hardware, but good quality. Installed on a Dell w/Win XP Pro SP1 2.2GHz. Installation was smooth. Works great with Netmeeting, except that the audio has to be run using the computer's microphone (still have to investigate this). On AIM, once you start the AIM companion, the thing was easy to use, just use the companion to start the IM chat session, the first thing will be other person will see is an invitation link to your video session. On connection the Video comes out. Like very much the animation features of the S/W and Movie support. I purchased it more as a Teleconferencing item. Need to explore more about it. Image quality is very good to be just 640x480. I have not tried the still photography support yet.
