Summary: I love this webcam!!!
Review: This was a gift from a friend in Hawaii,we'd both been using a less expensive webcam to correspond. When this came I was floored! The set-up was a breeze..a little trouble actually getting audio for IM'ing at first, but that was resolved over a few tries. The picture and sound quality has been wonderful for our purposes...so good in fact that I have purchased one for each of my adult children for Christmas gifts! Now when they are Instant Messaging each other and me, we are all seeing each other (not always a pretty sight at 6 AM on a Sunday!!!!) For anyone who wants to step up their ability to be in touch with loved ones or colleagues, this is a great way to start! Thanks.

Summary: These other people are nuts
Review: I don't know what these people are talking about, as far as I'm concerned, this cam is great. Sure, the image quality is lacking...but that's how webcams are. Obviously, ... has never seen one in action before. For a webcam, though, the images quality on this one is awesome. You have to make sure the lighting, of course, is all good or else it'll be kind of washed out. Also, you can adjust the focus, so don't forget that.

Others here are saying that the software sucks. Yeah, they're right. this cam doesn't come with any good software for auto-uploading your pics to your server. They make you sign up with SpotLife and SpotLife is shutting down on Dec 12. However, there are plenty of good (and free) web cam programs on the net. I suggest ChillCAM as thats what I've been using. Get it here: http://www.chillcam.com/index.asp?page=Download

And if you dont want to buy it, you may want to d/l the older version as i don't think it has a evaluation time limit on it.

I'm also runnig XP SP1 and have had no problems with it, whatsoever.

I'd recommend this cam to anyone wanting a good one and that does't mind paying a bit more for better quality and a zoom (which is pretty sweet, as well).

Summary: The image quality is terrible!
Review: I purchased this WebCam a few months ago and it seems the longer I have it the worse the image quality becomes! I wish I had returned it before the 30 days was up but now I'm stuck with it! If this is the best WebCam around WebCam's have a long way to go! Don't waste your money on this piece of junk!

Summary: What else do you want?
Review: This webcam is truly amazing. It's a product of art that offers you both quality and flexibility. Moreover it is the most user friendly webcam I have ever had. If you are looking for quality, this is much worth it...

Summary: Windows XP Pro SP1 problems
Review: As others have noted this is not a quick install if using Windows XP Pro SP1. I work in desktop software support and usually do not hit a deadend. After hours and hours devoted to trying workarounds I gave up. I tried Microsoft and Logitech suggestions, patches and workarounds but nothing suggested or found on web searches worked. I am afraid that the Logitech QuickCam software v5.01 - v8.1.1 is not up to the task.

Summary: Great Cam!
Review: I upgraded from and old intel cmos model and OH MY What a huge difference! My old cam would not work well in low lighting this one works awesome. I no longer need to light up my living room like a movie set for folks to see me. The face tracking feature is also great and the bundled software rocks. I bought mine locally though since Amazon was taking forever to ship it out.

Summary: THE SIMPLE FACTS ON THE LOGITECH PRO 4000
Review: Ok, where do I start... After searching through dozens & dozens of reviews (Not only on this site & not only for the Pro 4000) Did I Come to the choice of the Pro 4000. I've read many negative & many positive reviews for this Webcam, so I thought what the hell & purchased one to find out for myself. here's what I can tell ya.

1. I use windows XP on my home pc and it installed the drivers for the Pro 4000 simply and efficiantly & works great.

2. The picture you get from the webcam is very, very clear, even when lighting is to a minimum. I bought this webcam so i could use it to see family in the UK, my brother purchased a more expensive one and the Picture quality between the two is beyond comparison, the Pro 4000 outshines his phillips and my mothers logitech messenger.

3. I like the auto zoom feature and you can also manualy zoom as well, so you have the best of both worlds.

Here's the negative...

1. Yes the microphone is sensative and does pick up background noise, if your having a party or playing loud music it's gonna pick it up.

2. The USB cable is a little heavy and can move your webcam a little, depends on how much slack you have for the wire. But you dont have to be a rocket scientist to tape a little slack down at the back of your PC so it does'nt move.

3. Reviews have mentioned how flimsy the base is, but I have had no problems with that.

4. It should come with more directions. Installation directions are basic, but ok. Needs to have directions regarding the software that comes with it, the movie maker is fun but it's gonna take you a while to find out what does what, just be patient!

5. If you want this webcam to take quality digital pics then dont bother, pics turn out grainy & not at all good quality.

6. Price, I search various places for the best deal and found some amazing prices, but then read the reviews on the company's that's selling the Pro 4000 and been detered. This is what I can tell you. If you want this webcam then buy it from Amazon, $80.00 is in the middle of the price range, but I know that Amazon has never let me down on delivery time or refunds. If your still not convinced on the Pro 4000 then buy it from Best Buy, your gonna spend $104.00, try it & see for yourself, if you dont like it, return it with no hassles , if you do like it, return it anyway & then order it from Amazon for $20.00 less!!
This saves you time in shipping and returning it, waiting for your money back etc..

Well, that's it. Ive never tried any other webcam's because I didn't need to! This IS the one webcam for me & maybe you....

Summary: I cannot believe the reviews this camera got
Review: I cannot believe the reviews this camera got !

So far my experience with it has been sub-optimal.
Setup was very simple.

I dont see what is so great about it. It performs about the same as my connectix/logitech quickcam vc-which was poor.

The pic is fuzzy and no amout of fooling around with the focus ring gets it sharp.
The camera stand is flimsy-a piece of junk.
The visor falls off.
The camera is too light for the usb cable and you really can't get it to stand up straight-not to mention aiming it.
The cam moves rolls around in the ball socket thing.

PIECE of CRAP

Summary: Built-in microphone is horrible!
Review: The logitech advertises the built-in microphone as one of the major functions of this webcam. However, it does not work at all because it catches too much background noise. I ended up buying a new microphone to work with this webcam. Consider this drawback before you purchase this item. You may consider another cheaper product without built-in microphone because you still need to pay for it.
