Rating: Summary: Logitech manufacturers rebate Review: Logitech Manufacturers rebate is a farce, you will not get the rebate in most probablity. In spite of sending all the required forms etc for an earlier Logitech product, they say I have not sent the "Original UPC" code. Ha !
Rating: Summary: nice if you have a pc, look close if you've got a Mac Review: It's misleading to say this is compatible with Mac--I had an inkling its Mac abilities were limited but what information I could get from here and the Logitech site and a couple of others I checked was vague enough that I got my hopes up. On a Mac, as far as I can tell from installing the thing and getting a chance to poke around a bit--& I'm not very skilled in this stuff but also not very stupid with it--you get no audio AND no ability to send live video directly over the phone (modem-to-modem)--with the included software, at least--there are workarounds available through the web (last night I got iVisit to work--the only one I've found so far that supports Mac users [!]), but you are not buying quite the same functionality if you buy this for a Mac. As far as I can tell, the zoom doesn't happen on Mac OS either. Strangely (to me anyway) though the camera seems to have no audio abilities with the Logitech-provided software, I happened to try it out with ArcSoft's VideoImpressions (bundled with another product I bought a couple of years ago) and suddenly, with no problem, was monitoring and capturing live sound. Must note also that on my machine the software freezes on launch at least half the time. It still has its uses, especially if you want to play with digital video, in a limited way, without shelling out for a digital camcorder, and seems to have a few more options for tweaking the output than other cams for which I've been able to ferret out the info.
Rating: Summary: Great webcam! Review: I purchased the Logitech Quickcam Express before buying the 4000. The quality of the express is very poor. I was utterly disappointed. So, I decided to dish out a few more bucks for the 4000. It is definitely worth the money! Everyone who sees me online talks about how great the quality is...and the other features are cool too(these don't come with the Express). Try it...it makes a great gift too!
Rating: Summary: Very nice little web cam Review: I have owned and used several web cams and this is one of my favorites. It was very easy to set up - just plug it in and pop the disk in the drive. The image quality is great too.My only complaint with this camera is that the zoom is there, but as you zoom in the picture gets VERY pixely right away. If you are all the way zoomed in the picture is super fuzzy. Overall, I would recommend. I use mine with a tripod which is really handy. The little desk mount just pops off and you can screw the tripod mount in.
Rating: Summary: Flimsy rotating support - poor design Review: What a monster to use ..the eye ball keeps falling off because the rotating support is so week. The power cable is so heavy that the eyeball keeps dropping when you move the eyeball. Quality is reasonable but such poor design.
Rating: Summary: No Audio Review: I can't get the audio to work. It tells me to check that the microphone is connected. We are using netmeeting. I know the microphone works because I am able to send Logitech emails.
Rating: Summary: GOOD Review: Camera works well. The software was fine. The stand is a little [low quality] (pops apart when you adjust). Audio was great. I use it mainly with the Logitech IM messenger companion, which works great. The picture quality on the CCD sensing 4000 Pro did not seem much better than the CMOS sensing QuickCam Express my father has. Great buy from Amazon.com, with rebate was cheaper than most of the basic units without audio.
Rating: Summary: Not a good webcam Review: I bought the quickcam pro 4000 so I could set up a web page camera that would upload hi-res 1 megapixel stills to my web server. Upon installation of the software I discovered that the only way to use this camera for web video and still publishing is to sign up for a service called spotlife even though early versions of logitech software had automatic ftp upload capabilities. The spotlife service makes you fill out a bunch of personal information and agree to share that information with logitech's "partners." The service only allows you to record low-res stills and video instead of the higher resolutions that the camera is perfectly capable of shooting. Its plainly obvious that instead of providing software to benefit the user, logitech has decided to force the user to use it's service. Although the software is pretty "mickey mouse" for a "PRO product," shooting video and stills to your hard drive works well, but most people buy these cameras for use as webcams. If you need a webcam, do not buy this product!
Rating: Summary: Worthless Junk Review: I bought two of these cameras. After installation, the software ran successfully one time, then produced a "Server Busy" error on all later attempts. The software is buggy. Newer software is available on the Logitech site, but the download time is 3+ hours at 56K. Logitech tech support is poor. I got a 3 page list of suggested fixes from the Logitech site, tried them all, and experienced the same problems. Fortunately, I had opened only one of the camera boxes, so I can return the second one to Amazon.[com] The first one is going in the trash.
Rating: Summary: No LCD Mount Review: The camera is great, unfortunately though, the mount is kind of flimsy and unstable. Plus, there's no way to mount it to a LCD, short of modifying the mount that comes with it. Logitech should take a look around and realize that LCD's are more and more, becoming the choice for lots of people and they should at least offer an alternative type mount, even if it's an option you have to pay extra for.
