Rating: Summary: Excellent Value!!!!! Review: I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews butdecided to ris... I'm glad I did! I had no problem installing andwas up and running in no time. I hooked up a VCR and cable to theinput and was watching TV and Video tapes right away. The only slowdown came during video capture and editing. But what should youexpect for [this price range]. I'm running mine on an AMD K6-2 550MHzw/384 MB RAM and a 16MB 3D Acc. Video card for your reference.
Rating: Summary: Very Simple Setup, Excellent Quality Review: Following instruction page in manual, I installed this in about 10 minutes. Software installed seemlessly, and all works great! I am watching TV in a window as I type this now. I am happy that I made this purchase.
Rating: Summary: no bad for the price Review: the cable input was ok, the picture not bad at all. the software is buggy. sometimes you get initialization errors and you have to reboot. capture is ok, it works
Rating: Summary: Good value Review: Excellent value. Against my better judgement (after reading the reviews here) I purchased the card. Received the card, within 20 minutes it was up and running without a hitch. Yes, the software they give you is a joke. But the hardware works very good. And is quite surprising the quality. I had a video capture card from Media Vision (out of biz)-- The Pro Movie Studio. By far this is much much better quality! I really recommend this card, however you better be somewhat of a computer geek.sma
Rating: Summary: A Total waste of time Review: Installing the unit was very easy but getting it to work was fruitless. I moved it around, slot to slot with varied results but only once received a picture. Informed there were NO conflicts, but only twice had an OK from the test program. The only time I got video, was constant lock-ups of system, Having to go "SafeMode" and remove software to even get my computer to run, and after each re-do, lock up, again. After 4th card re-shuffle (once necessitating an ISA card move, to make room for a PCI slot). I finally removed the card, and packed it back in box. This was the second card (exchange) after numerous contacts with tech support on 1st card problems, who were of little help.
Rating: Summary: Pretty nice... if you're patient and have a fast computer Review: This card is great for watching TV, but unless you have a fairly nice computer, the video capture program stinks. I had a 233MHz computer with 96MB of RAM when I bought it, and it was constantly crashing my computer, and the video quality wasn't very good. I just bought a 566MHz computer which has 64MB of RAM, and it's working pretty well. It's running well (it doesn't crash the computer anymore), and it's capturing great video. The only problem now is that it's still a little bit slow (it makes you think the computer has frozen, and then just when you get ready to hit the power switch... it starts working again), and it doesn't have an output, so you can't put your edited video back onto a VHS tape.
Rating: Summary: Good Hardware for the money ... Review: I just want to repeat this from the other review: DO NOT UNDER ANY CONDITIONS USE THE SOFTWARE BUNDLED WITH THE CARD (for video capturing ), it's just a piece of junk. Try VirtualDub, it's free and have very good output.
Rating: Summary: Great for the Home User Review: I read all of the reviews about this card, before I bought it. And to say one thing I was a little worried about the use of this product, since so many people had problems with it. But I am not sure if it was either their lack of experience or system problems that gave them so much trouble. It took about 10 minutes to install, which includes the software and hardware. I don't think that they could have made this product any easier. The software is basic, but for $40, what do you expect, Adobe??? For the home user not looking to make Commercial type of capture this product is by far the best priced and has a great ease of use. I would and have recommended this product to several friends, that have also ordered it and love it..
Rating: Summary: Hardware great, software a disgrace Review: This product is without a doubt a great buy. The hardware is of great quality, and can capture at respectale resolutions and frame rates with very little signal loss. The installation is a snap. And then the price... less than 40 bucks to turn your pc into a television and video studio? beautiful. but before you go out and buy this, here are some suggestions: DO NOT UNDER ANY CONDITIONS USE THE SOFTWARE BUNDLED WITH THE CARD: their PCTV Studio is a joke. It refuses you the right to keep your files uncompressed (temporarily) and greatly limits your options. For your video capture and editing needs, check out VirtualDub for capturing (any web search should find it for you) which is freeware and by far the best capturing program out there. For editng, i suggest QuickEditor (prmeiere is better, but costs [more]) it allows very simple trim, cut, and copy editing with great transitions, effects, and soundtracking...For your TV viewing needs, the software bundled with the card is respectable, but still buggy (i have yet been successful in getting it to fullscreen mode without pink screen-itis) i suggest sticking with it, as it provides some good features usch as "channel surf" and is free of charge. So, in conclusion, go out and buy this card....you will have all you need for professional internet and cd-rom video.
Rating: Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS CARD!!! Review: I bought this card and have regretted it ever since. I have installed this card on two machines, and it didn't work properly in either one. I have to manually assign IRQ numbers every time I reboot windows. When I tried to contact Pinnacle, they did not ever respond to my email. I will never buy something with Pinnacle's name on it again.
