Rating: Summary: Keep track of whats going on with CNN Review: I purchased this card and installed it into a Emachines T1220 system (Celeron 1.2 Ghz, 256 Meg RAM, WIN XP) and it works fantastic. I have a home office and use a HP Laptop but have my kids Emachines desktop about 5 feet away. I just pop up CNN and keep track of whats going on in the world all day. This was a much cheaper solution to buying a TV. Graphic quality is great when the display size is kept small but is even acceptable at full screen. My daughter even watches cartoons on her PC now. When I asked her why she didn't go upstairs and watch it on TV she said this is cooler! It even came with a remote that works with no problems. Overall I'm very happy with it. I even used it to tape one of my favorite bands playing on the Late Late show and it worked great. For what it costs you can't go wrong! By the way when you install the drivers you are told they haven't been approved by Microsoft for Win XP but thy worked fine for me.
Rating: Summary: Cheap, but you get what you pay for. Review: It works, but if you expect much more you may be disappointed. The PCTV features no deinterlacing at all, leaving image quality in the poor bin. Even on slower moving video it can become annoying. For basic functionality it works. It features RF tuner, s-video, and composite inputs all which work fine. If you're strapped for cash it will work, but if you can stand to spend a bit extra, the money may be better spent on an ATI TV Wonder or competing product. It's hard to rate it too low despite the image quality for the...price, so I'll leave a Three behind with a word of warning.
Rating: Summary: IVE QUIT! Review: ive tried to install this piece of ... for a week on 3 diferent computers (my p3 with win2000, and a friends p2 with win98, and another frieds p3 with winXP) None, i repeat NONE was able to put this thing playing image, ive download everything for every hardware situation but it was worthless. After beeing really beaving like an obseesed maniac, ive quit! My actually concerned right now is that ive bought it in Portugal and ime right now in italy and cant return it, and the support offered by pinnacle is like the board. Luky u guys that were able to install it!
Rating: Summary: Studio PCTV Review: I've had this card for slightly over a year and it has stopped working. Before it broke, it was great for editing with Adobe Premiere, and especially for making online and CD films. I have used it a great deal, and while temperamental and irritating, it was a great value for a video editor and filmmaker. While my skill has far surpassed the quality of PCTV, it has excellent quality for the price. But, if you are looking to store your films on video after computer editing them, or you need something very reliable, don't get this. However, if you are a start-up filmmaker or just want to watch TV on your computer, this is an excellent product.
Rating: Summary: Useless support Review: Farily nice picture, but you better hope it works for you because you will get no support at all. And you better be using Windows 98, because anything more recent isn't supported at all. The sound is extremely noisy and there is a lot of voodoo involved in making it work.
Rating: Summary: Impressive quality for your buck... Review: I have owned this card for over six months, and not only does it work perfectly, but you get quite good video editing. I haven't tried Win2k, but Windows 98 and Millenium both work ok. The Studio software lacks documentation, but is quite powerful and more than adequate for a normal household use. I've used it with the RealProducer bundled with the card with optimal results. Unless you want professional video editing, this is a great choice.
Rating: Summary: Stay away from this TV card if you use Win2K Review: I have had nothing but problems with this card. The only piece of hardware in my machine that DOES NOT WORK. It will randomly lock up your machine. As for support, good luck. You might as well ask a monkey to help you. Don't believe me? Check out Pinnacle's forum for yourself.
Rating: Summary: Bad Hardware, Bad Support, Bad Value! Review: I bought this card a few months ago from Amazon, and it's now collecting dust in my closet. Pinnacle's support is useless, and their web site offers no real help. The software locks up Windows every time I run it, and I have tried it on several different PC's (Compaq and Gateway), with different versions of Windows (2000 and 98SE), all with no luck. Uninstalling and reinstalling has no effect, and Windows device manager reports no hardware conflicts. Too bad it doesn't report poorly designed hardware and software drivers. In this case, you get what you pay for. Spend a little more money and get a decent video capture card, don't make the same mistake I did.
Rating: Summary: HEY GREAT VALUE!!! Review: Hey everyone listen to me! I recently bought this card and I like it veeeeery much. I can't say anything about instalation problems... It changes for every system. Mine I got instaled in 10 minutes. Now for the performance. Look... The software is not that good... PCTV studio is just too heavy and it is too slow (Got 392ram and pIII 600) Try Ulead VideoStudio. If you want to watch TV on your pc then this card is defenetly for you... If you plan to capture video, mind that this board captures up to 320x240.... (Near VHS) But why should I care for more resolution? a 640x480 movie wont fit on a cd... SO, finishing I think that for that price... It worths every $$ I'm VERY satisfied!! Thanks Pinnacle for the Great product
Rating: Summary: The Pinnacle PCTV is GREAT!! Review: This card is one of the best TV cards out there. Why? I was thinking of getting either this card or one of the other hot consumer level TV cards out there: the Voodoo TV/200. The choice came down to these two after searching through all the other cards out there. What is the difference? They both use the same chip base, the BT878A. But the Voodoo doesn't have drivers for Windows 2000 and the voodoo is twice as expensive with a retail price of $99. Since I use Windows 2000 and the voodoo is not Win2K compatible, I decided to get the PCTV. The card installed without any trouble, and after installing drivers and rebooting I was watching my favorite TV channels. It took only 15 minutes total. For only $41, the card has amazing performance. It is inexpensive, but it's definately not a cheap piece of hardware! What else would you expect from Pinnacle? After all, they make professional level video editing hardware. This is their field. However, the video editing software that comes with the card is not too amazing, imho it is best to only install the drivers and the PCTV Vision from the CD. The rest of the software that comes on the CD is pretty crippled compared to other video editing software you can find out there.
