Summary: Not for Game Consoles
Review: I'm heading off to college next fall so I purchased this card to do two things, #1 play Xbox and Playstation games on my PC monitor, and #2 to watch TV.

In regards to playing console games, even on my 3Ghz Pentium 4 computer with an ATI Radeon 9800pro that I bought only a week ago, the Picture and Sound were delayed a second. This rendered playing video games impossible since you could only respond to actions a second after they had passed.

In regards to watching TV, the picture quality is decent, but not impressive. However, several of my favorite TV channels didn't even work with the card (USA and Discovery).

Not only is the TV Wonder card hard and lengthy to install, never does ATI tell you to install the drivers for the Remote control or install the program for the TV Guide. Even with the newest drivers from the ATI website, the programs used to watch TV crashed frequently especially when trying to close the program or setting up the TV guide.

Overall, this product is slow and buggy even when used in a brand new top of the line computer with the latest drivers installed. Game playing is impossible, and I didn't even keep the card long enough to test the VCR aspects of the card.

Summary: Do Not Buy
Review: Its box clearly says, compatible with windows-XP, but it freezes my win-XP computer whenever I try to turn off the TV. (I am running it with INTEL 865PERL motherboard, 768MB RAM & P4 2.4Ghz-800Mhz MB, and windows XP prof version with SP1)

Do not buy this card.

The CD installs many unwanted taskbars by default too.

Summary: Not Happy with ATI TV Wonder Pro
Review: Just got an ATI TV Wonder Pro. First problem was that the CD had CRC errors on a lot of files in the root folder so autoplay ended up hanging my system while it tried to read the CD. Basically, "setup" didn't work. However, the driver directory on the CD was ok so I got the drivers and some of the software installed. Then I went to the web site to get and install the latest software.

Now it complains that I don't have the correct version of DirectX or drivers installed. I re-installed DirectX 9b and the drivers but it still complains that I don't have the correct versions installed.

There is a monitoring program that watches the graphics card and it continually complained that my VPU (graphics processor) was not responding and offering to restart my system.

The card does work- sort of - poor quality and jerky video.

Then I realised I didn't have the program guide, but after searching the CD (no help from the manual) I found the software and installed it. This wasn't available for download from their web site.

To cap it all off, when I went to register the card to get support, I had to provide the "102-" part number, which is only available on the card itself. So I had to open up the case again to find that number - not user friendly. Then they only offer 30 days of support for free, after which you have to pay.

All in all, I'm extremely disappointed with the card - it's going back to CompUSA.

Summary: HyperThreading And ATI
Review: Service Pack 2 for Windows XP will fix the HyperThreading issue. A hotfix is available from Microsoft, but it is very very hard to get.

Summary: Good Hardware. Terrible Software.
Review: The Hardware for this device (PCI Capture Card, RF Remote mouse control) works great. The TV watching function works OK, but the PVR (Personal Video Recorder, aka Tivo like feature) is a giant software mess. The original install CD (which is a CD, but FYI - can only be read by a DVD-ROM drive) with MultiMediaCenter 8.2 would not record when I wasn't logged on. WinXP automatically logs you off after 5 minutes idle, so this is a major problem.
Downloading updated MMC 8.8 from ATI was a nightmare. Now everytime a scheduled recording starts, a Popup complains that "EAZYLOOK" can't run because I don't have the latest Radeon display drivers. Well, I'm using an Nvidia card, which was fine with MMC 8.2. The popup is normally a minor annoyance, as the TV still works without "EAZYLOOK", but for PVR recording, it won't record until you click OK (a major problem if you are not sitting at the computer while your scheduled program is supposed to be recording).
In short, Don't buy this product if you are using WinXP and want the PVR function.

Summary: Bad Software Support - But hardware is not bad
Review: The TV Wonder card kept locking up my Gateway P4 3.2 GHz PC. I found out that there is a problem with Windows XP for which Microsoft has a fix (Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 817589) but you have to ask for it and unless you purchased a retail copy of Win XP Microsoft will not deal with you.

With all the latest Win XP patches and drivers downloaded and the hotfix installed, now the card works fine and does all the things that it is supposed to do.

Summary: Just a Question
Review: This is no review but people said that the TV wonder pro shouldn't be used for xbox, what about a ps1? Does anyone know if it will sorta work well fora a ps1. I don't have any intentions to hook up a xbox but i wanted to try and get a ps1 hooked up to it. I was just wondering if it is a bad idea or if it will be as bad as people say it will be. (I just put a rating because it forced me to if i wanted to submit this)

Summary: Um... Okay...
Review: This product is the best video capture/TV product I have ever bought, that's why I'm giving it 2 stars. Why? Because my other products were half stars, and right now, this crappy ATI card isn't doing anything but collecting dust OUTSIDE of my computer! It all started when I installed this beast for the first time. I was surprised at all the features that it had, it was amazing, until ATI had some new drivers. So I thought "Well better download the newer drivers..." That's the last bit of TV I have watched on my computer. DO NOT DOWNLOAD UPDATED ATI DRIVERS! (This happened about 6 months ago, and I have still been trying to get this darn thing to work, and I'm pretty good with computers too) Since downloading the new drivers, I have not been able to use the TV portion of the card. I'm pretty sure that you have to have an ATI graphics card in order to use this, but I have a NVIDIA, and I got it to work until I downloaded new drivers.
CONCLUSION: If you buy this, make sure you either have an ATI video card. OR... DO NOT DOWNLOAD UPDATED ATI DRIVERS, and make sure you know something about computers if you're ready to voyage down this route, and prepare for TOTAL FRUSTRATION!!!!!!!!
