Summary: the Zen solution for better PC sound quality
Review: My Dell PC has an integrated soundcard, which provided mediocre-at-best sound quality whenever I tried to listen to Internet radio stations through my compact stereo system. I researched a whole slew of internal sound cards but read too many complaints about software glitches/slowdowns which made me balk at forking out $80 and up for them. This USB external card does what I need perfectly: at a very reasonable price, I now get CD-quality sound from online music radio stations (the corporate FM stations here in Houston are just too pathetic for words) and without ever having to install any additional software on my PC, so zero noticeable resource drain. Sure if I ever decide to do surround sound (unlikely in my already-cramped home office) or do some cross-medium recording (unlikely due to my lack of time) I may regret not buying a more expensive card---but in the meantime I'm VERY happy with this sleek little baby. Simplicity, functionality, and cost-effectiveness...I couldn't ask for more! And yeah, the sleek silver casing and flashing blue light are pretty cool too. BTW, some awesome Net stations with zero commercials, awesome playlists, and free too: di.fm (the classical and modern jazz channels), kexp.org, radioparadise.com

Summary: hi-fi...but only when it worked
Review: My Windows XP box wanted to want to configure this device every time I plugged it into a USB port as if it were the first time...very annoying. Also, it has stopped working all together, 4 months after purchase.

Summary: Horrible nightmare
Review: The included software crashed my computer, and technical support is a joke. Another product that I bought from Creative also has horrible software included; I vow to NEVER again buy anything from Creative. Dilbert's boss obviously works at this company. I bought the Sound Blaster from Amazon based someone's good review, but boy was I deceived. Sound Blaster doesn't even work with my (computer) speakers -- it will not physically connect to them!!!

Review: the thing sound's ok - when it works. you'll be reinstalling drivers for 9 out of 10 times you use it. if you want good sound and trouble free operation look somewhere else.

Summary: Perfect for those looking for an external sound card.
Review: This sound card is good for both laptops and desktops. If your desktop has AC97 Onboard Audio, like mine does, this sound card is a BIG improvement. The Bass Boost function does its job great. It can make 30 Watt speakers sound like 50 Watt speakers. The Creative MediaSource software is very nice-looking and easy to use and the EAX Environment settings are a nice feature. It can also connect your computer to a home-theater system with an optical digital audio cable, although I haven't tried it yet. Overall, this is a nice little toy to have if you wan't high quality sound at an affordable price.
