Rating: Summary: Excellent sound card...if it only worked properly... Review: After tiring out from my Santa Cruz Turtle Beach sound card in my 2 year old Dell 8100 puppy... I decided on purchasing a newer card. Now, first off, I doubt anyone reading this actually owns a 7.1 sound speaker setup. I mean, come on, this is becoming ridiculous; in any event, I thought what the hell, can't hurt to prep for the future. Currently, I only have a paltry Yamaha 5.1 setup.Onto the card... Well, I must say that I spent the good part of a day trying to figure out why there was a constant crackling and popping noise emanating from my speakers. My old card sounded better than this hyped up Herculean beast. I even connected a nice 50' optical wire from the output on the card to my Yamaha receiver. What gives tech guys? I started doing some "troubleshooting", like trying to lessen any interference from adjacent wiring or EMF--all to no avail. Ahhhh, but lo and behold, this is a fairly new card and I should've realized that the customer is always the one stuck with patching up holes in the software. After updating the drivers later on in the day, the annoying static/popping/crackling remained. ...I give up. I replaced this piece of garbage with my old card and am returning it asap.

Rating: Summary: DigiFire 7.1 on Fire! Review: Well I give this card a 5 becuase I have gone through an Audigy, Audigy2 and SantaCruz Live! Than I tried this card and fell in love! It cost less than the Audigy2 but it does not skip on features. The card has 2 firewire ports and a optical output (the only soundcard in the market that has this feature)and not only does it support 5.1 speakers it supports 7.1 setup! You dont have to worry about it not running games or apps I have thrown every thing at it and it just keeps pumping out great clear sounds!
Rating: Summary: Best sound ever, better than Adigy (creative) Review: Wow this sound card is way better than creative labs. At first I can connect 7 speakers and sub. Unlike creative 5 or 6. Also Hercules as more plugs for digital outputs, and Comparing the sound to creative Hercules won, no distortions (noices) Happy happy costomer
