Summary: DONT BUY FOR MINIDISK RECORDING!
Review: Hey, i bought this just for the optical out, and wanted to see if it would skip the tracks for me (since it is optical) on my minidisk dubbing deck. Well, i just put the thing on record and the music sounds great on my home theatre system...unbelieveable for bootlegged mp3s. But sadly, the optical out will not space out the tracks, so when recording to mini disk, it will make all the MP3s one large track. On the other hand...this is one good sounding card to plug up to a home audio system---i just cant stand computer speakers.later

Review: i bought this card to go into a computer i was moving into my home entertainment system, and it replaced a soundblaster live! (due to the digital optical out). setup was a breeze. before hooking it into my entertainment center, i tried it out with some mp3's my computer setup. whoa. i immediately noticed an improvement with my cambridge speakers, made by creative (the same people who make soundblaster). i then tried out the optical out. it performed well unless the volume on the computer was turned all the way up, and then it tended to pop in and out. however, if i set the computer at 3/4 volume and then turned up the volume on my receiver, it performed perfectly at about the same audible volume as my cd player. come to think of it, the problem may have been with overloading the input on the receiver. have been running it without a thought to my soundcard for the past 6 months. highly recommended.

Review: I had a hercules game theater, but it had trouble passing AC3 and did not pass DTS at all. I got this sound card and find it to be great. No more annoying pops, and it passes the DTS signal using PowerDVD

If you have never used a sound card before, and are not at all familiar with how they work, don't purchase this one. After setting everything up, I set it up to play and MP3 file, and heard nothing. I even put a music CD in the drive to hear it play, and heard nothing. This product advertises the hip software "Acid DJ." Upon installing this sofware, you will be asked for a serial number. The installation instructions tell you that the serial number is located inside the manual, but no manual is provided with this package.

Summary: Guille-what? Oh well, they make a great card!
Review: I wanted a sound card which would simply allow me to make some decent MP3 recordings and run my MIDI synth. What I got was a great card with an onboard Yamaha synthesizer and an optical digital out port! For [the money] you're not getting a pro-quality synthesizer, but it sounds great and saves me the hassle of having to set up my external keyboard every time I want to play a MIDI file. One note: if you have a built-in sound card as I did on my HP Pavilion, make sure you disable it first, or you may run into conflicts.

Summary: Great Sound Card !
Review: Not wanting to jump directly into the high - end sound cards which all seem to cost @ $100+ , I researched what was available in the $50 range. I am very pleased with the product ! The fact that this card has an optical digital out makes it worth every penny spent . I can now connect my PC to my high -end home stereo and finally get all my music onto one drive , using optical digital for the transfer. I do agree with others that the documentation is the weak point . There are references to "online" manuals , but they only exist for the software . It took a bit of configuring to get the card set up . It was still worth the extra effort .I think that even those folks who don't enjoy having to "tweak" their hardware/software will be pleased with this product.
