Summary: what a joke
Review: A word of caution for everyone looking to buy this (...)..oops, I mean card. Go to the web site and check out the forums. The drivers for this thing were terrible to put it mildly. Any one not experiencing problems with this card soon will be, it takes a while but the bugs catch up to you.

Summary: Hercules Game Theatre XP
Review: As Far as the Actual Hardware Itself, I would rate it at 5 stars easily. If You are a serious gamer who uses voice comm during multiplayer internet gaming, This is the system for You!
Your USB, Headphone amd Microphone jacks sit right there on Your desktop readilly available. Gone are the days of stretching around to the rear of a computer to plug something in or remove it.
I gave 1 star because Hercules Tech support is HORRIBLE.
No 800 toll free number
Techs are NOT Knowledgeable about the product
Return Service is attrocious. You have to submit to an archaic RMA service thru a 3rd party shipper that means 2 weeks before they actually get it and You might see a return 5 weeks down the line. And then there is absolutely NO guarantee it will be fixed. My unit, IN WARRANTY developed USB and Mike jack problems. After sending it in 2 times, The Microphone jack/input is still unrepaired. They will drive You nuts trying to get satisfaction. The Hardware is Fantastic just Hope and Pray nothing goes wrong with it!
A viable alternative is Creative's Extigy USB card. Drawback is Extigy has no built in usb hub :(((

Summary: Dont listen to the other idiot, he doesnt know what he is do
Review: First of all, if you have a VIA chipset, definetly get this card over the creative ones. win2k, go find the leaked 2.0 drivers, they are everywhere and work like a charm. yes you do get forced the crysal drivers in 2k, but just run the setup genious, itll take care of it. definetly worth every penny, only bad thing is no control of spdif volume, but spdif, optical, and analogs can all be used simultaneously, can you say like 30 speakers?!!??!

Summary: The Mis-leading Sound Card
Review: I bought this card expecting the best, but receiving the worst. The external rack included is perfect, everything was easy to install, except for the drivers because of the misprint in the manual. But this card boots me from all of my favorite games! I've never had a problem running any game on my PC (P3, 128 RAM, 20 Gig Drive) until I installed this card. It has horrably disappointed me and I suggest the more reliable Soundblaster cards by Creative.

Summary: The Mis-leading Sound Card
Review: I have been using the Game Theater XP for the past few months now and I have to say that it is by far the best performing sound system you can find. The GTXP takes most of off the sound processing duties from the main CPU, more so than competitive products from Creative Labs. I did have trouble installing on my ME machine, Crystal Drives, but after reading the friendly manual I discovered the error in my ways. They give you that manual for a reason you know!

The thing that I enjoy the most about the GTXP is the large variety of inputs that it has. I no longer have to rut around the back of my CPU to hook up my headset when I use dial pad. I even have my 110disk CD changer running on this system through the optical input, talk about convenience. I can hook up my Joysticks and USB devices in an instant, no fuss no muss. The GTXP makes my ...Labtech speaker set worth keeping. It was a very noticeable upgrade from my Creative Labs Live card’s sound quality and all the extra connections are really ideal for any computer desk. It’s great to see Hercules making Great products again. My last praise of this system is that the remote unit is metal not plastic. This may not matter to most people, but to me it speaks volumes of the quality of this product.

Summary: Works OK under Win2000
Review: I have Windows 2000 and I was reading some of the bad experiences of people using the GameTheaterXP under Win2000.
I have installed it twice under Windows 2000, once after removing my old sound card (sblive) and once with a clean system. I had no problems installing the drivers under Windows 2000. Someone said that it was detected as a CrystalFusion or something. Read the instructions that are included in the box. Most times you are supposed to hit CANCEL and not let windows install any drivers for new hardware that you buy. If you clicked OK and let it install conflicting drivers then you didn't read the simple installation instructions.
Another person said that for some reason his speaker setup was changed from 5.1 to 2-speaker stereo each time he played a game.
I use the 4-speaker setup, and I have never seen it change on its own.
4-speaker sound works good in games under Windows 2000.
When EAX is enabled (like in Diablo2) the sound seems distant and soft and I have to turn the volume up generally. That only seems to happen in some games. Most games the sound volume is fine even with EAX enabled.
This sound card is far superior to even the SB Live for sound quality. Cranking the volume level on my Cambridge Soundworks 4spkr setup all the way up yields a barely audible background hiss. Most sound cards have pretty bad background hiss as you turn up the volume, and I found this sound card to be the best.
EAX is not as good as the SB Live, but I doubt any sound card can do that perfectly.
I play a LOT of games, new and old, and I have not seen it crash under Windows 2000. I am using the latest 2000 drivers for it.
Overall it's a good card but I am looking for something new that has better Windows 2000 compatibility.

Summary: Simply the Best
Review: I just don't have enough words to describe how awesome this sound card is. It beats the Soundblaster Live 5.1 series in every way. The only bad thing about it is the cable that connects the card with the external rack, but once you have it running ... you forget about it quick. Just want to mention also, I have upgraded my Soundblaster Live 5.1 Platinum to Game Theater XP ! I highly recommend this sound "studio".

Summary: You have to love it when you get more than you expect
Review: Immeadiately after receiving this product I was taken aback by all that was included. I knew that from reading the stats, that this product had many features. Once opening the product and installing it into my system, I realized that the stats didn't come close to discribing the full features of this item. I was Amazed! Easy to install (even with Windows 2000...not a small feat), a nice design and easy to use menus make this card a "must have" for anyone wanting good sound on their computer.
