Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: ...My iBook's speakers don't maintain their quality at louder volumes and that has deterred me from listening to CD's and MP3's while using it. This candy-bar sized contraption (not including the cables) worked its magic and now I listen to CDs and MP3 files through my stereo. I am using it with OSX and I set it up in literally 30 seconds without reading the instructions. All cables (two in all) are in the box, including a 30' audio cable. I'm impressed!
Rating: Summary: If you've got a decent sound card... Review: ...you probably don't need one of these. I'm feeling like an idiot right now because I bought this thing BEFORE I tried plugging my computer straight into my stereo. D'oh!!! A 1/8" stereo plug-RCA adapter and RCA cable from Radio Shack do the same job as this thing. Just plug it into your computer's headphone jack, and you're all set. I did a side-by-side comparison between this thing and the stuff I bought at the Shack and there's NO discernible difference. I guess there are some situations where interference inside your computer and/or a weak sound card will make this not work so well, and in this case I'm sure this product would be perfect; it definitely works as advertised. But I would HIGHLY recommend you try the Radio Shack version for $12 before you buy one of these.

Rating: Summary: A 200% IMPROVEMENT!!!! Review: ALright, this thing definately does work. I tested it by hooking up the audio cable directly to my sound card, and the volume was soo low. Then i plugged the hifi link in and it was twice as loud, a HUGE improvement. Only thing is i had to ass the ground loop isolator to get rid of the annoying hum at loud volumes. Buy one at radio shack like 15 bucks and your audio will sound PROFESSIONAL. Total cost..hifi link 40 bucks, ground loop isolator 15 bucks, adapter 5 bucks, so it was like 60 bucks all together, so worth it.
Rating: Summary: Eric Review: Fantastic product. Sound quality (MP3 @ 160 MBPS)is almost indistinguishable from my CD player, and I have a pretty high-end stereo system (Nakamichi amp, B&W speakers). Setup was a snap on Windows XP. Hands-down the easiest, cheapest way to play your MP3 files onto your home stereo with near-audiophile quality.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: For the price, you cant lose. If the quality of your mp3s are good, this will make them sound better. I am using mac os 10.2.4 and it works great...
Rating: Summary: so small, yet so cool! Review: Got the HiFi-Link so I could hook up my computer to my Harman Kardon amp. Have got to say the audio quality through this little device is amazing! Was also really impressed with the quality of the cable that came with it. Don't really get into rating products, but this one is just such good value!
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC PRODUCT FOR PEOPLE WHO LOVE MUSIC Review: Hey, if you want to get great quality sound from your MP3s and other music files, use this great device called the HiFi-Link from Xitel. I get terrific quality sound using this little DAC device...Great value. I travel with it also. I can plug it into my stereo speakers at home or my boombox when I'm on the road and hear my MP3s with crystal clear sound.
Rating: Summary: Sound quality is deplorable. Review: I beg to differ with other positive reviews here. I'm using a 700mhz iBook with OS X. The operating system saw the device right away, and it worked flawlessly. The sound quality, however, was much, much worse than my home CD Player/NAD amp/B & W speakers. The sound quality out of the Xitel unit was very close to the sound quality coming straight off the analog headphone jack of the iBook. My thought when I heard the unit was, "[a few of my hard earned bucks]something that boosts my levels a little, but sounds no better..." I'm sorry Xitel, you'll have to do better than this. Try at least to sound as good as a $50 portable CD player, and then I'll be interested.
Rating: Summary: This really works... Review: I got the Xitel HiFi-Link a number of months ago after seeing it on CNN. I love good music on as I work. I have a laptop and the quality of sound I got from my sound card when I tried to hook it to my stereo was terrible. The sound I get out of my stereo now that I am using this is extraordinary. Most of what I listen to are MP3's and Internet radio stations. I did not know they could sound this good. Frankly, at the price I was expecting much less. Even more impressive is that I just plugged it into my USB port and it worked...no software, no setup. I highly recommend the HiFi-Link.
