Summary: poor documentation, but works great
Review: I spent the past few weeks going crazy with a d-link series of devices. I live in an old home with thick walls, but there would be a great signal and then crash. One computer, 2 rooms away from the AP could keep a signal for no more than 3 minutes. It drove me crazy. Today I returned the d-link and picked up the netgear router/ap with a USB wireless card. I actually meant to buy the Linksys, but there were no USB devices in the store. The documentation was not good, but I was a pro from hours of working with the d-link. To make a long story short, there was one problem, a knowledgable customer service person who was on the phone after 2 minutes on hold and now my network works.

Summary: Netgear Is What You're Looking For
Review: Ahh yes. After fumbling with a Linksys router and the Speedstream by Siemens (CNET Editor's Choice), I have finally settled with a REAL quality unit. Netgear makes great stuff. I am using a wireless card for my laptop and the USB wireless device for my desktop, both Netgear. Setup was all of 5 minutes - not a second longer. But most importantly, the Netgear device is dependable and has great range. My router is on the second floor of my 70 year old brick house (with 4x floor joists). Yet, I regularly use my laptop in the basement. The Linksys couldn't hang in terms of range, and the Siemens kept dropping connection randomly. The Netgear is bulletproof. Don't waste your time with anything else. And for that matter, stick with Netgear cards especially if you're running Win XP.

Summary: worthless investment
Review: The router portion of this device works great, and setup on a LAN is easy. However, the wireless feature fails at least 5 times per day and must be rebooted by unplugging the unit (there is no power switch). I called their technical support, and they told me to return it to the place I bought it. At least they were honest: this is a worthless investment if you want wireless capability.

Summary: Easiest configuration I've seen
Review: When I put this piece of equipment into my network and ran through the setup wizard web application and BAM! it was working. Later I decided to set up a bunch of port forwarding and once I found the page in the web set up application it was straight forward. For 'rents, they have content filtering which is also easy to set up; but being a libertarian, I turned that feature off ;-) All in all I've been quite happy with the product and would reccommend it to anyone. The only thing I was kind of dissapointed in was the range. I can only get connection within 100 feet of the unit which is kind of a drag because it doesn't quite encompass the neighborhood pool! -Runz

Summary: The best switch yet
Review: I bought this switch (on the advice of the alpha geeks in our networking group) to replace my two year old Linksys box, and I'll tell you I was not disappointed. Performance is excellent, and setup is idiot simple -I have yet to crack open the instructions. Highly recommended if you want a mixed wired/wireless network. (And if you just want a wired network, check out the similar FR314).

Summary: Easy to setup. But no real firewall features
Review: It's very easy to setup if you get all the required info up front (as described in the manual). It only took me one shot to set it up with NO hiccup at all with my DirectTV DSL service. After that, works perfectly. I connect to my Toshiba laptop (XP) via wireless and to my HP PC (Win98) via wire. No complains so far. One thing to note is that there is no advanced firewall feature for this product if that's what you need.

Summary: very easy to set up
Review: this router worked right off the bat. It took about 20 minutes to set up and the pdf manual on the CD covered everything. Just use the wizard in the browser window and it was done. Excellent

Summary: Perfect Router for the Home or Office
Review: The best thing about this router is that it supports VPN over wireless... Can easily kick back at the pool and connect to my work's VPN... I do not even have to go into the office [anymore]... It is a great choice for any computer professional who wants to work from home. Anyone can set it up in under 10 minutes... In addition, very hard to hack into... +++

Summary: Easy Setup, No Interference
Review: I was experimenting with wireless products and was sceptical. But the Netgear wireless cable router is amazing. All of my peripherals work, even down in the basement where I have my laptop. Range is amazing, and I have not experienced any interference from cell phones or cordless phones. Works like a charm and is super easy to setup.

Summary: Wonderful, It is very easy to install and configuration.
Review: I am so impressed by this product. I use JVC cable modem, Netgear MR314 Wireless Cable/DSL Router , and SMC wireless PC cards. They are working very well for each other. I just took half an hour to set up all of them. This product is good for people who want to have a network at home in both wired and wireless environment.
