Rating: Summary: Excellent value, works great Review: After purchasing a similar hub at Best Buy (Dynex) and having it fail to run any device plugged into it, I turned to Amazon for a PCMCIA USB hub.
This product is cheaper than the Dynex one and actually works. Plugged it into my Dell Inspiron 8600 and had Windows automatically install all the drivers. Plugged a keyboard and mouse into each of the ports and both devices were recognized instantly and work flawlessly. The included power adapter is handy though I'm not sure I'll need it; the power supplied by the laptop is plenty for at least a keyboard and mouse simultaneously.
Rating: Summary: Didn't work for me Review: Could not get the card to work trying several times to install drivers etc.
My Dell Inspiron laptop running XP did not recognnize the card when plugged into the card slot.
Returned it
Rating: Summary: Good for the price, and it works! Review: I have a Dell Latitude c400, which only has 1 USB port. I have a lot of USB "stuff" and I guess it must have been all that wear and tear of un/plugging things everyday. The port started to wiggle, and then one day, it just stopped working. I called Dell, which helped me run all these diagnostics and they said the port was "working." Um, no, it wasn't. So, I decided to go AROUND the problem. I also had the PCcard slot which I wasn't using, so I bought this "Addonics Cardbus To USB 2.0 Controllerwith 2 USB 2.0 ports." I literally put the card in, and once my laptop said "found new hardware," within seconds I could use my USB printer again. I don't need the power adaptor for most things like my printer which is separately powered, or the USB mouse, which requires very little power. But it's good to have anyways. Great product.

Rating: Summary: Great so far Review: I inserted the card into one of the Cardbus slots of my "Toshiba Satellite PRO 4300 Series" and Windows 2000 recongnized the card and installed the drivers without asking for anything. Copying a 150 MB file to a "256MB USB 2.0 Sandisk" takes 3-4 minutes on my old USB 1.1 port and with this card it takes 35-45 seconds... So far so Good! I'll write another review when I try it with an external CDRW I've got....

Rating: Summary: A Huge Speed Increase Over USB1.1 Review: I installed this on my Dell laptop running Win2k to speed up the awful performance of my external CD burner when running through the built in USB1.1 port. The max transfer rate went from 6.9x using USB1.1 to 49x with the Addonics adapter (it's only a 48x burner). A read followed by a burn for an 80 minute audio disc went from over 24 minutes to under 4 minutes. That's pretty much the best performance my burner can offer. And my CPU usage went way down as well. I also like the fact that this is one of the cards that comes with an external power supply you can use if you need to supply more power to the peripherals. I haven't had to use it yet, since my USB2.0 peripherals do not draw power from the USB port. But I'm sure it will come in handy some day.
Rating: Summary: Great, after Dell Driver Update Review: I received this yesterday. Initially it caused system freezes. I emailed the company that evening (Friday), and the same evening received their email response with new driver updates. That helped a little. However, after installing Dell Inspiron 2650 driver updates (O2Micro OZ6912 PCMCIA Card Controller, A01),
this is fantastic. The included power supply is not necessary, and external USB 2.0 DVD burning is as fast as with my Desktop USB 2.0.
Rating: Summary: Never let me down! Review: I've used few Addonic's products and none of them turns me down! I got the card, slided it in the slot, and it worked almost instantly (IBM ThinkPad and WinXP pro), no driver needed. The speed is up to max 480Mbps. No external power needed for mouse, webcam and external CD burner, even I plug them in together... those I have tried so far. The adaptor for external supply comes in the box though, I don't think you need it anyway.
What I really like is its size, I've been looking for few cards in the store and seems like Addonics is the slimmest among those no-power-need 2-port cardbuses. What else can I say? It is really great for the price. I love it!!
Rating: Summary: Perfect, even for un-savvy users Review: Let me preface this by saying I am a computer idiot... I do only the basics on my computer and generally expect problems to occur at any time, especially when I install or add something.
So, I got an iPod this Christmas but needed to do some upgrading for my older Toshiba laptop before I could get it going. Since I was running Windows Me, I first needed to get XP before I could do anything. The upgrade went beautifully, and as soon as I finished, I popped the Addonics CardBus USB 2.0 Adapter into the PC Card slot. XP alerted me that it found new hardware, and instantly recognized the product, and within seconds it was operational.
I wasn't exactly sure whether or not I would need the external power source for the iPod, so I was happy that it was included. However, it's wholly unneccesary, as the iPod recieved a charge through the USB 2.0 CardBus as soon as I hooked it up. We'll see if I ever use it... but it's nice to know I have it.
I totally recommend this product. It's super-fast compared to the standard USB and was easier than I ever imagined. If you have XP, it should literally come out of the box and be ready for use.
