Summary: Does not work for Ipod connectivity on PC's
Review: Bought this card to connect my dell 8100 to my ipod remixed. Installed the card in a snap without incident. Tried connecting my Ipod and it immediately started charging so I thought I was good. However, I opened itunes and nothing. Went to the iogear website thinking i needed to update the driver when I stumbled across the statement on the Tech Support Library, document #10162:

"Why won't my IPod work with the GUF320?

Both the IPod and mini-IPod require a Windows Hardware Quality Lab (WHQL) certified card to connect to the computer. At this time, the GUF320 is not WHQL certified.

We apologize for any inconvenience."

Well that would have been nice to know before I ordered the card and wasted my time and effort.

Summary: DOES work w/ Ipod on PC's
Review: I installed this card in 5 min. in a 3-year-old Dell running Win XP, with the single goal to connect an iPod (4th gen. 20 GB). Contrary to what another rater indicated, the iPod WAS immediately recognized using the firewire cable and continues to connects everytime just fine.

Highly Recommend.

Summary: Install With Caution!
Review: This card is now plugged into my computer and working fine, however, it disconnected me from the internet. I have Windows Me, and an external USB Ethernet between my computer and the modem for my High-Speed Cable service. The Windows Internet Connection Wizard was of no help in getting me back online. I had to remove the circuit board and use scanreg/restore on my boot-up floppy just to get internet access again.

The solution ultimately came from a free, self-install, rollback program created by my ISP, which informed me that 14 internet settings had been changed by the (re)installation of this hardware/software.

I now have the circuit board installed AND internet access. Be careful putting this thing into your computer!

Summary: Works like a charm
Review: This is so much better than an external device. No extra power source to worry about and less clutter. If you're looking for extra USB and Firewire ports, this is the way to go. I only wish the firewire speed was 800 instead of 400, but at $40, who can complain? If you think you're a luddite and can't install a PCI card, I can tell you it's really easy. Not much different than plugging in your USB device, actually. Just open your computer, remove the PCI cover (one screw) and pop this one in! And if you have Mac OSX 10.28 or above, no driver is needed. I was up and running in five minutes.

Summary: Forget Belkin, look no further than the GUF320
Review: This thing was easy to intall. I have a Dual 1.25 G4 Mac. No driver installations under Panther 10.3.3. If you're pre 10.2.X on a Mac you'll have to visit Iogear's website for USB 2.0 drivers. You shouldn't have any problems using this card with a G5 given the bus supports PCI cards either. Apple should just sell this card in their stores. This is my first Iogear product, and this is the best combo firewire/usb PCI card currently on the market.
