Rating: Summary: Does it get better? I doubt it. Review: I bought the DI-614+, so I could connect my laptop without having to drag around a cable. I have found that the router features are very extensive, but easy to use. The fact that the DI-614+ has a built-in help system is pretty cool. I not sure that I have seen that on another product in this price range. As for the range and speed of the router it is great! I get pretty darn good throughput and the signal is very strong even at the far end of my house. I would definitely suggest this router to anyone looking to set up a wireless network.
Rating: Summary: So-so product, horrible customer service. Review: First experiences with the product started out OK. (I ordered it along with the 520+). Configuration of the card and the router were relatively simple. Web based interface to the router was nice. Again, simple. Connected easily to my ISP. Allocated IP addresses to the wireless connections and the wired connections with no problems. Howerver, once I started trying to use a VPN connection the trouble started (along with the trouble with customer service). At first the VPN connection did not work at all. I downloaded the firmware upgrade and installed it (without any trouble). The VPN connection started working but would disconnect sporadically. I looked in the FAQs and the manual but found no good help. So, I emailed customer service because their 800 number put me on hold then disconnected me. Their first e-mail respones (other than the automated one) told me to upgrade my firm ware. I had already done that so, I e-mailed back and told them that it looked like the router was dropping packets even though I had configured it to trust the external vpn server. They then told me to enable file and print services for Windows 95. What?! I'm on Win2K. My frustration level rose. Upon e-mailing back and asking them to have a human read my issue, they told me to enable the IP on the DMZ. Since that's already done, that advice didn't help. Now it seems that upon visiting certain websites, the router will reboot itself if I hit refresh. Who knows what will happen now... I think I just want my money back.
Rating: Summary: Work right of the box Review: 15 mins is all it took to get it up & running with my DirecTV DSL. I also updated the firmware to 2.0f.
Rating: Summary: Easy to set-up, easy to use Review: All I had to do was simply plug my cable modem into the WAN port and one of my computers to one of the 4 wired ports and just ran the wizard on the router. The 2 other wireless computers (one desktop with Siemens wireless PCI, and one laptop, with D-Link wireless PC Card) detected the connection and connected with ease. No drops or any problems so far. Have been using the router for about a month now and I am very happy with it.
Rating: Summary: Awesome, Easy to Set-up, Great Features Review: This set-up was so easy, all I had to do was plug the router into my computer, run the wizard, and that set-up everything. I configured the router to only accept my two MAC address (wired, wireless) Speeds were easily as fast as my wired connection, and range was pretty good. I only have a two bedroom apartment, but it reached every room with good signal strength. I would highly recommend this product.
Rating: Summary: Great Product, Great Price Review: I just bought this wireless router and the wireless card (both AirPlus products) I had absolutly no problems setting it up and upgrading the firmware. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a wireless router. I've been transferring at speeds just as fast as my wired connection!
Rating: Summary: Wow - Really means it - IS plug and play and FAST Review: We're using this router with cable modem - when combined with a D Link Air Plus wireless card for the laptop, response time seems like you are wired to the LAN. Very fast. We use with 2 PCs on a wired CAT 5 LAN and one laptop on wireless. Not sure whether you can use more than one wireless connection at a time - the documentation is not clear on that. If that is your desire, check with D-Link first.
Rating: Summary: Anyone can set this up, even my Mom! Review: Pretty funny. I bought the DI-614+ to add wireless to my Mom's house. When I was in the middle of setting it up I got a call and had to leave. My Mom was able to complete the set up without me. I was surprised that she was able to get the wireless portion working also. I think D-Link did a great job on making this router as easy to install as possible. I have to give props to my Mom for completing the installation, as well.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding! Review: I've used both the Linksys products and this D-Link AirPlus w/the AirPlus card. The AirPlus, hands down, blows the others away. I have full signal strength anywhere in the house! The firewall configuration is the most advanced I have seen for a product like this. It will even open up incoming ports based on the time of day from a NTP server! If you're going wireless, the D-Link AirPlus series is definitely the way to go. I'm getting my friends to dump their Linksys's and go with this one.
Rating: Summary: The coolest router made! Stops unwanted "guests" Review: I had no idea I was going to get sooooo many features for the price. This router cost me less than most wireless routers on the market go for. Not only is it faster, but it has the ability to perform MAC authenitcation. See, I used to have a neighbor who was riding off of my last 802.11b router, which wasn' that bad, except when I needed all of my bandwidth for downloading or whatever. I have a felling it was the guy acrossed the alley. Who knows? Doesn't matter. All I had to do was tell the router to "Allow Only" my laptop adapter's MAC to connect. Problem solved! And so easy to do. I would recommend this router to anyone who has a piggy backing neighbor.
