Summary: Great for the beginning home networker!
Review: I bought this a week before Christmas for use with my wireless laptop. It came with a standard HP wireless card @ 11mbps. I have no trouble setting it up from my desktop computer. WEP encryption is just as easy to setup! And better yet, when I set up my web server the router demonstrated it's virtual addressing options to redirect to one computer. I recommend this product for anyone. I have only one complaint and I believe it is my card. The signal stops working sometimes but comes on after a minute. Check it out!

Summary: Worked right out of the box - no problems
Review: I bought the DI-614+ and a dlink PCI adaptor DWL-540+ and both worked like a charm right out of the box. First thing I did was upgrade to the latest firmware. Have two computers sharing an internet connection with a cable modem, one is connected via the ethernet switch, the other is wireless. Although I'm pretty savvy on hooking up these sorts of networks, I followed the instructions in the quick start guide and they worked great. Got 22 Mbps at 100% signal quality and 66% signal strength, although the PCs are only 100 ft apart (two walls). Noticibly faster than using the internet connection sharing feature in Windows.

Summary: Not to bad at all...
Review: This Wireless unit and the Wireless card was a breeze to install. Only pain I suffered was when I was configuring the WEP and couldn't get the 256bit encryption to work. I finally discovered an "undocumented feature" in their software which won't allow the configuration for 256bit so I got stuck with 128bit encryption for now.Other than that, I was thoroughly impressed.

Summary: Good Price, Great Features, A Little Buggy
Review: I purchased this just over a week ago to expand my home network by adding WiFi capability. Running CAT5 wire around the house is not as attractive when it goes beyond 5 drops. My initial intention was to go with the Linksys equivalent, but I was lured by the 22Mbps offered by the D-Link DI-614+. Generally, getting it up and running was easy and the features are impressive. It can synchronize time using an NTP server on the internet or you own internal time server. Web based management makes configuration a breeze. You can save the configuration file to your hard drive and upload later if you lose it (a feature lacking in many such devices, even high end ones). You can even have it e-mail the logfile entries to you. Lots of leds, a sleek looking body and two highly articulating antennas (you can adjust the to almost any polarization) There are a couple of downsides to this model. For example, it's a must that you update the firmware almost as soon as you install it (not unique to D-Link). I was disappointed with the lack of a "router" mode (vs "gateway" mode) that will turn of NAT. Also, you cannot add any static routes manually. It does not support any routing protocols, such as RIP. Lastly, it does not do SNMP. Ok, my last point is perhaps extreme, but what can I say, I believe in network management and MRTG!!! All said, for the price, I'd say you can't go wrong getting at least one of these. You get WiFi at 2x speed, a switch, NAT router, firewall etc....

Summary: You Need A Lotta Luck
Review: I've had a lot of trouble with my d-link wireless system. It's all d-link stuff, including the di-614+, and therefore should work together well. Sure enough, it was easy to get the network running. I disconnected my wired network and had the wireless network up and running in about an hour. Surprisingly easy. However performance is no good, for lack of a more appropriate word. 22 Mbps? Please. Try about 1 Mbps. Remember, that's mega BITS, not BYTES (a byte is usually 8 bits for you non-techies). 1 Mbps is SLOW. I've been on the phone twice with the useless customer support. These guys don't know anything. It actually took two calls for me to realize this. They'd be better off picking a random solution to a random problem out of a hat. I'm still waiting for the promised phone call back from the "higher" tech guys. I'm an experienced software developer, and therefore no slouch with this kind of stuff. If you just want to surf the web, 1Mbps will still feel much faster than a good dial-up, so you can get away with it. But if you're transferring files across the network, or trying to do streaming media stuff, forget it. You're better off copying things by floppy. I've tweaked tons of the settings, updated the "firmware", and nothing. Again, I think the product must just .... You can read all these rave reviews like I did and think wow, but buyer beware!

Summary: Great product and easy to install!
Review: I used this unit with my Toshiba notebook that comes with built-in wireless card. Although it took me couple hours to configure it to work, it's great after it's working. I love the security filters where I can limit my own computers to connect to this D-link router. I only gave it a 4 stars because I found this unit for [less at a department store].

Summary: Unexpectedly Simple Install and Easy Config
Review: The installation went with out a hitch, and I was very surprised to find out how easy it really is. The configuration of this device is fairly straightforward and has an intuitive layout so you will be able to find the setting you want quickly the first time. I recommend this to others who don't want to deal with a complicated and time consuming installation. The performance of this is good enough for me and I think I have pretty average demands from a DSL/Cable router. Plus the wireless is a huge plus.

Summary: I intalled it and then it just started working!
Review: I greatly appreciate it when I am able to install any kind of computer related hardware and have it work the way I want withing 20 minutes of opening the box. That's exactly what this D-Link did for me. I am able to browse the Internet anywhere in my home with my laptop and a DWL-650+ plugged into it. The speeds I get are perfect since I really don't notice a difference in surfing the Internet while on my laptop (wireless) then on my desktop (wired). I am very happy with my purchase.

Summary: Wireless routing in record time!
Review: I can't say enough about how easily this router set up. I downloaded the latest firmware first, then I had the hardwired portion working in half an hour, and the wireless portion in another hour. The only problem I had was with the PCI receiver card in the remote unit, it didn't seem to like one of my PCI slots but as soon as I moved it things went like clockwork. I'm sharing internet via a cable modem now among 3 machines and speeds everywhere are excellent.

Review: Bought the D-Link AirPlus Wireless Laptop Networking Kit .... Contains the DI-614+ wireless router and the DWL-650+ laptop card. The box says Installation in 3 Easy Steps. Yeah right! B.S. It took me 3 hours to get the wireless internet connection to work on my laptop. I then realized I could no longer connect to the internet with my desktop. After waiting one hour on the phone for tech support, the technician was able to fix the problem on my desktop connection. But guess what, the next day it would no longer work. Tried to re-install all over again. Forget it, there is no way I could make it work. No internet connection with the laptop or the desktop. Spent 5 hours trying to fix it, nothing works. I will return this...
