Summary: I was wrong.....
Review: When I first received this I was very pleased with it's ease of setup and configuration. I hastily gave it a 5 star review here on Amazon. But after the first few days I noticed it started to drop the connnection on the WAN side (to the internet) about two or three times a day. Apparently, when the lease expired on the dynamically assigned IP address from my ISP, this router "forgot" to renew it. Resulted in having to reboot the router to get the connection back. Thinking it might be an ISP problem, I hooked up my old SMC non-wireless router to check it out. Problem disappeard so it was definitely the D-Link. Getting through on tech support only took about three minutes but the person on the other end was clueless. Took at least five minutes to convince him that the WAN, and not wireless, connectivity was the problem. He had me change a few settings in the hopes that it might start working. It was obvious he had no clue what the cause might be and was just shotgunning it. The suggested changes had no effect and I was told to return the unit. Got the replacement and it wouldn't get a dynamic IP address at all so it was absolutely worthless. The third time was a charm, but only because I quit messing around with D-link and got a Netgear MR814 instead. Pros:
1. Very good range. Better range than the Netgear I replaced it with.
2. Good configuration interface with lots of options. Port forwarding on this router was easier than any other I've seen and included pre-installed templates for common applications (FTP, HTTP, PPTP, etc...)
3. Better encryption with 256 WEP. Most competitors only have 128 bit. Cons:
1. Didn't work! Twice!
2. Some security features lacking. No ability to turn off broadcast of SSID or permit/deny wireless connectivity by MAC address. Neutral:
1. Tech support calls were answered quickly, but techs seemed to have a flowsheet to follow and if your problem isn't on the flowsheet then they don't have a clue how to help you.
2. The 22 Mbps connection speed. Yeah, my wireless devices said they were connected at 22 Mbps but I didn't notice any greater practical throughput than wireless devices connected at 11 Mbps. If all you're doing is surfing the internet, then you'll max out your internet connection speed long before your wireless connection speed anyways.

Summary: D-Link Wireless Problems
Review: I own both this router and the Netgear MR-814. The Netgear wins hands down. I am quite experienced with both hardware and software, so my problems are not an issue of ignorance on my part. The D-Link simply has inherent problems in their wireless implementation. Hardwire connections worked fine, but when a wireless device was connected the router was plagued with dropped connections. On my cable line, losing my wireless connection was a norm. In a college dorm the situation was even worse - the D-Link often failed to allow wireless at all on the faster LAN connection. To make matters worse, the Netgear clearly demonstrated a stronger signal (60% Netgear to 40% on the Dlink). I recommend the Netgear MR-814 whole heartedly.

Summary: Works like a charm!
Review: The router works great. The first night all was well. The second night my husband, who has the wireless NIC, couldn't get a signal. At this point we downloaded the firmware (just follow the instructions in the Q&A section of D-Link), and we were back in business. BTW, our offices are on two separate floors. Not a problem for this wireless router. We're using this router in unison with a Linksys modem. No troubles with the equipment. The trouble was with our broadband provider, but that's another story.

Summary: Works exactly as advertised
Review: Did a swap-out with an SMC Barricade non-wireless router. Change was fast and painless. Default configuration of the D-Link and the built in wizard was enough to get me back online in less that five minutes. Web interface is very easy to use and full of options. Wireless connectivity with a D-Link card in my laptop was very good with high transfer rates and strong signals.

Summary: integrates seamlessly and yet very easy to install
Review: Installed it almost without even reading the instructions. Also bought the 520+ for the PC and 650+ plus for the laptop. Also upgraded to the latest firmware 2.18 seamlessly to get to 4X(did not bench mark though).
Just one note, I had to reset the router for the first two days because of lost sync with the elements in the network. (Probably due to my hastiness for without even completely reading the instructions.) But since then no problems and dropped connections. I can also connect to VPN connection of my work. Remote configuration of the router through a browser is very convenient. Perfect. Quality and even esthetics are good.

Summary: Great Backbone to my Network.
Review: I have this router as mu backbone of my home network and it has been running smoothly since the first install. I can always count on my 614+ to be up and running, and when there is a new firmware update it takes it with no problems and new features are added. I love this product. I bought one for my brother in texas also, and he says it never gives him any problems. I also have a wireless repeater (DWL-800AP+) that repeats this signal so my basement has connectivity to the Internet via a DWL-810+ hooked up to a switch. The setup was painless, it has been working since, and every little tweak, or setting I change I've never had this router ... out on me. I've had this for about 6 months now. A++

Review: I bought this router and could not get it to work. Then the Hardware failure light M2 came on and I requested a replacement. The replacement unit had the same problems and I returned that one too.

Summary: The Perfect 802.11b Wireless Router for the Home.
Review: Seriously, this product has it all.
The router's configuration is perfectly easy to use, simple to understand, and robust enough to please almost every user. Security Features:
256-bit WEP - everyone else is only up to 128-bit
MAC filtering - Allow only the PCs you want by their MAC address onto your network. (very easy to setup as well)
Disable SSID Broadcast - It's like not listing yourself in the phone book.
You can turn the wireless signal power way down to only cover your house with access, or just that room, or pump it up as high as it goes so it covers your backyard too. The wireless speed this router provides is amazing. All my friends are jealous that I can get 10Mbps of real throughput. Everyone knows that 11Mbps rating will only get you about 5Mbps max of real throughput. This 22Mbps stuff from D-Link gets me 10Mbps real throughput. That's twice as fast! The range on this is perfect as well. It travels from one room to another through walls just fine. I get signal in my basement first floor AND second floor when I place this router on the first floor with the antennas in a horizontal position. This is one of the least expensive 802.11b wireless routers out there, it goes the fastest, is very secure, and works great out of the box.

Review: The wireless part of this router is really bad. At first, I didn't know what to make of it.. I had a the D-Link DI-614+ wireless router, a D-Link DWL-650+ PCMCIA wireless card for a notebook, and a D-Link DWL-520 PCI wireless card for a desktop. Initially starting up, it was promising. However, it turns out that the router gets messed up internally if you leave it on for about week or so, you'd have to keep rebooting it..(when you log on to administer the router, it gives you a messed up screen with mis-aligned text -- fixed after rebooting the router) No idea how to explain this eloquently. The DWL-650+ PCMCIA card: when I assign a WEP encryption to my wireless network, the router would not accept the WEP code from this card. I've since installed a different wireless router, and the WEP works fine. The DWL-520 card: Once in a while, the router somehow "looses" track of this card. None of my computers on the wired network could see or ping the computer running on this card. Mystery... The router also does not transmit very well. I moved my computer about 50 feet away from the router, and the signal becomes really bad. I've spent a lot of money trying to set up a wireless network. After I've replaced the D-Link wireless router with a different brand wireless router, everything works much better. I recommend the Netgear router. Cheers.

Summary: Another D-Link Product
Review: I had this setup for a total of 2 days before I was ready to throw it out the window (fortunately, I was able to send it back to Amazon.com). Setup is the pits, range is terrible since you have to be right next to it for the card to have a connection, and there are better, more affordable productions on the market (Netgear!!) Good luck to you if you are brave enough to try this.
