Summary: Worked for a while (3 weeks)
Review: I was impressed for about three weeks until this card stopped working. Worked fine, now about every 10-15 minutes the little systray icon goes red and the message is that it can't communicate with the driver... strange. If I pop the PCMCIA card out and put it back in it will work for another 10-15 minutes. What a pain. Tech support at Netgear is useless. The driver update for XP didn't solve the problem. Could be a hardware problem or a defective card. I doubt I'll buy another one. You get what you pay for...

Summary: It works great! Had problems at first. Wrong driver loaded.
Review: It works Great! Installed on my Sony Vaio laptop running ME.
Had a problem getting it to work at first.
Support tried hard to help me but could not figure out what was wrong. I decided to take out the driver then reinstall the ME driver. Work flawless after that. It works in the home, and great in the back yard. The front yard not great. (The problem was the 2000 driver loaded first, then the ME driver second.)
If the ME driver would have loaded up first? Seconds to get working.

Summary: Work fine but not-so-far range
Review: I use it for my college wireless network. It works just fine without any trouble on my WinXP laptop. However, I can't use it somewhere Orinoco card could work. The advertised range is not reliable since the spot that I can't get it to work is definitely not far over the advertised indoor range.

Summary: Card does not work
Review: I had a lot of trouble with my Netgear wireless card. The drivers did not install on two laptops and the configuration utility says it cannot communicate with the driver, even though the driver seems to be properly installed and working.

So back goes the product to [store](if I can figure that out). The technical support was responsive but were not able to help out with the problem (hence the two stars)

Summary: installation easy
Review: using windows XP home, the installation was very easy for this. Unlike the Lynksys product that I have used with other operating systems, but for some reason could never install on 2 out of three of my XP computers....

Summary: Had trouble but they fixed it.
Review: I set up the router and the card into my laptop and it worked for a moment. Success. But when I turned it back on, I got nowhere. The guys at Tech. Support came on right away and helped. If you get an error 12 in the Hardware device manager and your yellow exclamation point is next to the wireless device you have too many things going on. I disabled the infared and the 56K modem and suddenly the exclamation point was gone. So far the system is working great. Oh yeah, if you disconnect from a docking station you might have to set new "disable" again in the device manager.

Summary: Works Great!!!
Review: Normally, I like to buy all components from the same manufacturer, but the reviews on the Netgear wireless network card convinced me to buy it even though I was also purchasing a Linksys 4 port wireless cable/dsl router. The set up for the Netgear MA401 was straight-forward and quick. The router is on the second floor of my condo and I'm writing this review on the first floor. The Netgear utility program shows the signal and link strength as being Excellent at 100%.

I enabled WEP security on the router and it only took a few seconds to configure it for the Netgear card.

Lastly, the PCMCIA card has a small profile due to its built-in antenna compared to other alternatives.

I highly recommend this product due to its easy set up and compatibility with the Linksys router.

Summary: Buy This Card!
Review: This is a great 802.11b card. Works out of the box. Didn't even bother with the instructions. Plugged it in and put the driver CD in and had 100% signal two floors away! Encryption was a breeze to set up. Put in the passphrase from your WAP and you have 128-bit encryption. Buy this card with the Linksys WAP11(version 2.2) and you can't go wrong. Once you go wireless you will never go back!

Summary: Easy, Excellent, Compatible
Review: This card worked on my windows 2000 laptop with no issues.
I have a linkysys wireless router at home and a cisco wireless router at work. Both of them work flawlessly. Not only is this the best priced card, I would have to agree with everybody on this page that it's also the best.
