Summary: Their products have no warranty
Review: Contrary to their claims, their products have no warranty at all (unless you pay for it). I have a 2 year old gateway router that had a 5 year warranty that stopped working one day so I called their tech support. The tech support person told me that since the product is over 90 days old and they do not manufacture it anymore, then I would have to contact their pay tech support line to get an RMA. If they are able to fix the problem over the phone line, then they will charge me, otherwise they will offer me an RMA number for a return. So basically you have to pay to use their warranty. A friend who is a lawyer is currently handling this situation.

Summary: Nifty little unit - too bad it doesn't seem to work...
Review: I tried placing this unit behind my Microsoft MN700 wireless router (which sits behind my cable modem). I have a single cat5 run to the far side of my house, and I wanted to add this unit to that drop so I could have two devices connected in that end of the house. Well, unfortunately, the unit seems to drop the connections every 2 minutes for abou 10 seconds. It will do this for hours, and I have not been able to resolve the problem with new patch cables or rebooting PCs, power cycling the unit, etc.

Very frustrating...

Summary: Nice Switch
Review: Its a basic but reliable, non-managed switch. Great when you need a simple solution with a good brand name.

Summary: Appliance-like simplicity, reliability
Review: Pros: Simple setup, no configuration necessary--plug it in, and it works. Speedy, stylish, reliable, and cheap. Cons: (minor) no configuration available for tweak-heads (i.e., might not appeal to folk who like control at every level).

Summary: Inefficient power supply
Review: Switch is fine, but power supply is the least efficient I've ever seen, producing 6 watts out with 23 watts in. There's no excuse for 26% power supply efficiency, when an 80% efficient design costs nearly the same. This power supply will add about $3/month to your electric bill.

Summary: Great Buy
Review: The Netgear FS605 is a great 5 port switch. Simply just plug it in and your on your way. I have one at home and have one that we use at work. The unit is sleek and has good quality for the price. I would highly recommend this unit for anyone looking for a basic switch.

Summary: Netgear Equals Superb Service
Review: This holiday season I was a good santa and purchased numerous wireless networking products for my various family members. Sure it was partially a selfish act as I wanted to be able to easily connect when I went to visit, but for the most part it was just an act of giving. I purchased mainly G products and they varied from routers to USB adapters to PC Card adapters. I did also purchase a couple of B products for those in the family that already had some wireless networking products (yes, I know they are backwards compatible but I didn't want to take any chances).

Only two members of the family had installation problems (considering my family is very non-technical I was quite impressed) and those two people both had yet to upgrade to Windows XP SP2. The rest of the family members were up and running within minutes.

As for the couple of family members that did have problems, well they called me first (of course) and I told them to just run back through the installation procedure again. This solved the problem for Uncle Dennis but Grandma Joyce still couldn't get it to work properly. I reluctantly told her to call Netgear's technical support (hey the reviews on Amazon haven't been too pretty for their tech support). I however was quite pleased when an hour later I got an email from Grandma Joyce thanking me for the great gift. I called her back and she told me that after fiddling with the settings with the Netgear people she was up and running within 30 minutes.

Overall, I consider this the ultimate test of product quality and support and I would give Netgear two thumbs up.

I hope this review was helpful to you in putting your mind at ease regarding ease of setup and trust of technical support if needed.

Summary: Great value, great switch
Review: This is a great switch, I use it to share my ADSL, it was just plug an play, no fuss, in three minutes I was running three computers, its also very compact and nice looking, the silver finish is better looking than Lynksys and Dlink. Well worth the price.

Summary: Great!!
Review: This is a great switch, it does the Job, but actually there are some really good offers for wireless routers for around the price of this switch.

Summary: works well, runs a little warm
Review: This switch is as advertised. It works out of the box, without any problems, setups, uplink switches, or anything else. Just plug and play.

Silent, fan-less operation. However, it does get a bit warm to the touch. If fully loaded (using all ports at high volumes of traffic) and running in warmer room, overheating may become an issue. Even so, I'll take that possibility over yet another noisy fan in my office.
