Summary: Good but get the latest driver, don't call support
Review: Out of the box I hit a snag, attempting to setup WEP as my first attempt. I called support, and after someone deserving of a night phone job suggested the AP was bad (a DLINK 900AP+), "you should exchange it." I located the updated driver, installed it and all the pain went away. So far so good.

Summary: Stay away from this product...
Review: I had this card for about 24 hours and all it did was give me problems. I got the blue screen of death on a couple laptops I tried and it would happen every time I was in the middle of something (email, online purchase, etc.). Also, the range is really poor and the connection drops for no reason at all. I live in a small one bedroom, and it couldn't even handle staying connected. Sometimes it would just disconnect for no reason, even if I'm sitting right next to the DLink 614+ Router. It would try to reboot and then just freeze up during the Windows 2000 startup screen. It would take 3-4 reboots to get my laptop to come back up. This just kept happening. Technical Support was incredibly incapable and didn't help me at all. Only suggested the obvious things that I already tried and then just told me to call the manufacturer of my laptop. Their suggestions (remover config utility from startup) totally didn't solve the problem. Take my word, stay away from this product. It clearly wasn't thoroughly tested and has many problems. Plus, you won't get anywhere close to the advertised 22MBps. I am already returning this card as I write this. I thought that buying both the DLink 614+ and the 650+ card would make life really plug and play. Sure it worked fine for the first 10 minutes, but after that it was straight downhill from there. Seriously, take my word for it. I'm back to using the DI704 wired router.

Summary: Quality Features, and 256-bit WEP
Review: I have 2 of these, one on each laptop, and they have both been running great since I installed them. Having 256-bit WEP encryption available is a good feeling when there are all of these reports of people using innocent peoples Internet connection. The features this card comes with are very useful, especially the site survey feature. I can scan the area for available access points and connect to any one I can. This is good for traveling and accessing your works WLAN or a friends WLAN. The signal strength is good for a PcBus card and I would recommend these cards to anyone else.

Summary: Very easy to use and Very Compatible
Review: The installation of this PC card is simple, like most PC cards and I don't see why anything would go wrong with it if you are running windows.

I have been able to connect to many other wireless networks when traveling and it is all fairly easy to configure when needed to. I have been lucky about half the time when I boot up and I am able to connect to an available AP without having to do anything. The card will do it's own little site survey and connect to the AP with the strongest signal upon boot up. If it can't find one or needs to have an encryption key it is only a couple clicks away and it will be about 1 minute before you are connected. Everything involved with this PC card is very intuitive and easy to use. I am very pleased.

Summary: I haven't heard one complaint from my Wife
Review: My wife is actually the one who uses this product with her laptop to connect tot he Internet through our wireless enabled router. I haven't heard any complaints from her (believe me she wont hold any complaints back) regarding this CardBus adapter so I'd have to say there haven't been any troubles since we installed it a couple weeks ago.

This CardBus adapter was installed on her Toshiba laptop with very little hassle. The installation was basically an install of a small program and a reboot. Then when it booted back up we stuck the card in and within the next 2 minutes it was connected to the router with no changes at all. I was amazed at how it worked right away. I am very happy with our purchase.

Summary: A great card
Review: I used to own a D-Link DWL-650. I was disappointed with it because it used so much CPU when transfering data so it was impossible to watch movies without stutters.

Now with the new Cardbus 32bit interface the CPU-usage isnt noticeable. I can watch movies on my laptop (1,1GHz) without problems and everything feels much faster (browsing the web or my network). The drivers seems to be improved alot too.

Summary: Trouble-free install with a good amount of features
Review: Reading the quick start guide does wonders. You are supposed to install the drivers and software BEFORE you plug in the card and boot up your laptop. I learned this the hard way and noticed it a couple times on some reviews AFTER I had all the troubles. It really wasn't too bad but it cost me some extra angst and about 10 minutes.

So after reading the instructions first I felt much more comfortable installing the PC card and it took a lot less time getting everything configured correctly this time. It took about two boot ups before everything was just fine and dandy, but after that I was very pleased.

I am very satisfied with this card, the distance in signal, the features, the high security (256-bit), and of course the portability/convenience of it being a laptop card.

Summary: Very Easy and Simple
Review: Very simple installation, and nice and tight security.
Things I like best:
Site Survey feature, 256-bit WEP encryption, Slim and compact feel, trusted brand name, 22Mbps speeds with other D-Link enhanced 802.11b products, faster speeds on existing 802.11b networks, it almost runs itself and you don't have to worry about it. just like a wired NIC.

Summary: I am Enjoying my FAST Wireless Freedom
Review: When this is coupled with the DI-614+ router/access point the speeds are twice as fast as the conventional 802.11b @ 11Mbps and priced well under the 802.11a cards. I was amazed to find that this is even faster than cards rated at 11Mbps even when networked with 11Mbps access points or routers.

I am very excited to be browsing the internet free from all wires and at speeds that don't annoy me. I can even play games over our LAN and not get a bad ping. The setup was super simple and the configuration settings are adequate for what you need to do. I don't think they could have made this any better than it already is. This wireless card is definitely "top shelf" in my book and I'd recommend it to everyone.

Summary: Do not buy this if you are running Windows 2000.
Review: If you are confident in your ability to install this device in a computer running Windows 98SE on down, then it is a great product. D Link's current drivers for Win2K DO NOT WORK. I have been in frequent contact with their "customer support" (the "" are due to the lack of support I received), and they keep telling me to do the same thing (it's a form letter). I have followed their instructions EXACTLY without success. I have Win98SE on the same laptop, and it works beautifully. My problem with this, is I intended to remove 98SE from my computer, but now I'm stuck with it. Good luck, and buy Linksys.
