Summary: Performs as Stated and Easy to Install
Review: This PCMCIA card was very easy to install and I was able to configure it in about 5-10 minutes. It Performs just as well as it is supposed to and I am happy to have found that it is truely 802.11b compliant.A friend of mine has a wireless network at his home also and with a little settings change and a reboot I was able to connect to his computers. Recommended to anyone who has a laptop and access to a Wireless network, or will soon have access to a wireless netowrk.

Summary: UNuseable range in my average-size house!
Review: I also can ONLY get about 40 foot range (thru walls) in my house. Not enough, so I returned it. Looks like TONS of these (and Access Points) get returned (at Fry's). Does ANYONE know IF any brand of these cards will work 100+ feet INSIDE a HOUSE???

Summary: Quick and easy Install and Performs Great!
Review: I Installed this card by D-Link in barely anytime at all. It comes with quick install guides which i am sure would be great for people who haven't done this before. That is shows that D-Link knows that everyone is buying this and not just the techie nerds like myself. That's Good. Also the Speed is quite impressive. Works Better than other Cards I have had the ability to try out. I keep the D-Link card in my laptop and I use it as a standard when I try out other products. I can recommend this product knowing it is 802.11b compatable because I have seen it in action personally. Some other companies claim their products do the same but D-Link has proven it to me many times with all of their wireless products. Works Best with the D-Link Access Point (DWL-1000AP)

Summary: Easy to Install and Works great with the Access Point
Review: I bought this card along with some other wireless D-Link products and everything works Great! The Installation was easy because of the quick installation guides provided by D-Link. They came in all the products I purchased from them. And as for connectivity, I can't remember anything that went wrong. This and the USB adapter I bought recognized the Access Point right away and the speed was just fine. I can transfer files from either of my computers just fine where ever I am in my house.

Summary: I'm truly impressed!
Review: I admit, I'm an engineer by heart, a web/app developer by trade, and a network hobbist (no MCSE's in my plans). However, I do own a small business. I develop web/app solutions for my customers. So when one of them wanted to install their LAN using wireless, I was a bit skeptical. I was leaning toward CAT-5, but he insisted on wireless because he thouht it would be cool. HE WAS RIGHT! He has a small office with only a few workstations, but plans are for more users with laptops. The range is suprising good and installation was a snap. Using Win2k Server and Win98 Clients. Now that the price has dropped, I'm thinking about re(un)wiring my office!!!

Summary: bad range
Review: I recently bought two dlink cards; the pc card version and the pci version to create a point-point wireless LAN. I was very disappointed with the short range; much below the advertised 50-100m. I had a lot of trouble getting the PCI card to work in my PC. Eventually I had to use a different motherboard since win2000 would freeze right after bootup if the PCI card was installed. Even when I got everything up and running I found that the range inside the house was very bad. I was getting absolutely no connectivity at 100 feet (33m) through walls. The advertised range is upto 100m (330 feet) indoors. I ended up returning both cards. Wasted time and effort... do not recommend a purchase unless all you want is connectivity within a 70 foot area.

Summary: Poor connection/signal quality
Review: I bought this card off a yahoo.com store. It does not always connect to the available wireless network. It is not even compatible with Windows XP - the installation says so, it is not digitally verified by XP. While it is able to detect the network, it just won't get connected. I use it on my campus' wireless network. While people around me can connect to the network using their wireless card, mine just refuse to do it. Although sometimes it does connect, this is not a very reliable card.

Summary: 108 Mbps is NOT working
Review: I use DI-624 and DWL-650 with Dell 600m. The 108 Mbps or Super G just doesn't work, the wireless connection drops every 10-20 min. Make sure you visit http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum and search for paeDISCONNECTED and you will meet many unhappy users there. I have tried both 2.42 and 2.50 firmware and many things suggested in http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum. The only way to make DI-624 and DWL-650 work for me is to disable Super G. DI-624 also works with my 802.11b came with Dell 600m.

Summary: Check your bus speed!
Review: Be absolutley sure that you have a 16-bit bus or this card will not be compatable with your computer. If you do not have a 16-bit bus you will have a 32-bit bus. You will need to find a wireless card that uses 32-bit bus speed.

Summary: D-Link DWL-650 very poor range
Review: I have a Belkin wireless router/modem which works well with a Belkin PC card. I also allows me to work with an HP5550 hand-held all over my house. However, only about half of the house is usable with this D-Link card and my laptop. I am very disappointed in the range although in other respects it is OK.
